The "Monday Night Football" showdown between the NFC South rivals Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints has national pundits taking sides, and players taking offense, already.

ESPN TV analyst Trent Dilfer said in a report by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas that the Saints not only could beat the Falcons on Monday night but could come back in the playoffs and beat them again - at the Georgia Dome.

Falcons receiver Roddy White took to his verified Twitter account, @roddywhiteTV, to write, "No chance in hell the Aints come into the dome and win once trent dilfer."

Saints defensive end Will Smith, @iwillsmith, took exception: "Wondering how @roddywhitetv has the audacity to call us AINTS" with this picture attached. http://twitpic.com/3i9cif

Offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin, @jgoody76, followed up with, "Just got even more excited for Monday!"
Sounds like some good locker room materialI respect Roddy White as a player but the man must be off his rocker. Downgrade White and Matt Ryan, Heck down grade all Falcons.

edit: Tracy Porter has responded via his Tweet:

"I've heard about it, but I'm past responding to ignorance. #MNF will settle it!" RT @Eman5805: @T_Porter22 I hope to GOD you've seen what Roddy White said about you.
I hope Greer is healthy for the game but Porter will be cover White more than likely.

Phew.Dumb.

Some coaches must want to rip the blackberries right out the players' hands sometimes.

Someone should remind White that those Saints are 7-2 vs the Falcons in the last 9, and they are purely lucky it's not 8-1.

I'm wondering how Will Smith has the audacity to question Roddy White's audacity.

1-0 wit these teams. :goodposting: and u gotta come to tha durty... Bring Your :whoosh: 's, you're gonna need em. especially with no running game...

WTH is he supposed to say, "We'll be lucky to even make it close."?
He probably shouldn't have said anything and do his talking on the field Monday Night.
Historically he's played pretty well against the Saints.....so his play on the field already does plenty of talking. This "bulletin board material" junk is just that....junk. If you really need the best player on the other team to say something like this to get you jacked up about a MNF game vs. your division rivals who happen to be standing firmly between you and a division title, then maybe you are an Aint.

Did you watch the game? Saints gift wrapped it for the Falcons. The Saints are going to run just fine this game. Bump me if I'm wrong but I expect a heaping Dose of all 3 backs this game. Ivory, PT and Bush. The Saints are not going to lose two in a row. They were a lock before Roddy ever opened his big mouth.

But nearly all of them are from the time where the word "Aints" was made irrelevant.

The Falcons won game 1 on a 29 yard shank after the Saints lost Reggie Bush and trotted out Ivory for his first game. The running game will be better this go round.

Actually Bush never played he was lost in week 2. You must be thinking of PT who got hurt during the Falcons game.

Right, they were without Bush, and PT went down. Ivory fumbled.

Yeah that Hartley guy is horrible under big game pressure.

http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/wee...atlanta/1734488Well the Falcons still got swept last year by the Saints and before you give me the it wouldnt have happened if Matt would have played remember the Saints beat, Farve, Warner who was on Fire, Payton Manning, Eli Manning and Tom Brady. All Superbowl winning QB's.
Not sure what your link proves, but thanks?Anyway, the 19-1 still stands and it wasn't the Saints that beat him. HTH.

Is he gonna install turbo boosters to PT/Ivory, teach Bush how to play RB, the O-line how to run block, and erase Hartley's memory of the shank? Because I could've sworn he was just a defensive coordinator.

It proves that the flaw in your theory is that Matt didnt play the Super bowl winning Saints at home last year or he would be 19-2 at home. It also proves that there were valuable players out for both teams. Not metioned of coarse is Reggie Bush who wouldn't get back until the playoffs in the Arizona game. Matt Ryan is a good QB, dont get me wrong but I hardly think he would have made a difference in the outcome.

Well, yeah, actually, judging by what he's done to some pretty damn good HOF QB's in the last 2 years he can compensate for a lot of things.

hey He has to be fishing any way. Dude is a Bengal fan. Surley he must remember the 58 yard Chris Ivory TD run against his beloved Bengals? The Saints had one of the best running games in football last year. They were balanced. All of the same players are back on offense this year and I agree the Saints have been missing a step in the running game this year but they are perfectly capable and will find their running game. They are getting healthier as time goes on so it will improve.

You don't think a starting quarterback would have made a difference? Saints won by 3 points in a game where the Falcons were missing Ryan AND Turner. Turner only went for 151 on the ground in the other contest last year.

Second guessing doesnt mean squat. Lets see if he makes a difference this Sunday and leave it at that.

This is Ryan's game log at home.

How many of these games were vs. winning teams?

Now, if I'm not mistaken, and I could be, it looks like three this year, Baltimore and Green Bay. [Edit, ok, add in TB]

But you could also say that Ryan is 1-1 vs Gregg Williams. The 2nd game as we know was a near win for Ryan. The first game was a disaster for Ryan:

Rk Year G# Date Age Tm Opp Result Cmp Att Cmp% Yds 6 TD Int Rate Y/A AY/A Att Yds Y/A TD TD 2PM Pts

23 2009 7 2009-11-02 24-169 ATL @ NOR L 27-35 19 42 45.2% 289 1 3 46.6 6.88 4.14 3 9 3.00 0 0 0

If you want another example, look at what the Eagles did earlier this year - 2 turnovers by Ryan on a 31-17 loss - while facing the amazing Kevin Kolb, albeit in Philly.

Hardly daunting stuff here for the reigning NFL Champs.

The two things I will give the Falcons credit for this year are turnovers and penalties or lack thereof. They have been decent at the give away take away game. The Saints were much better at this last season that they are this year. There was a bunch of turnovers by Brees earlier in the year and I think he had a few against Atlanta. He had a couple against the Ravens last week. The Saints must play smart ball against Atlanta and I think they will.

Some serious stubbornness and homer-ness, especially by the OP. It should be a great game. I doubt that because Roddy White is pumped up, he is a downgrade. He can raise above any match up. I see his desire and motivation as only good. He'll probably have a big game. The real concern is which mis match works out better. After getting shredded by Ray Rice, teams are starting to realize the Saints weakness vs the run. The Falcons will try to control the clock and pound it with turner, mixing in passes to white, gonzo, etc. The saints plan is the opposite. The falcons pass D is bad, and obviously the saints strength is their passing game. They will be passing more, mixing in some runs to try to keep some balance as well. should be a great game, however it breaks down.

Denver....his rookie year.

ETA: He's 1-0 vs. the Saints at home in his career.
http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/wee...atlanta/1734488Well the Falcons still got swept last year by the Saints and before you give me the it wouldnt have happened if Matt would have played remember the Saints beat, Farve, Warner who was on Fire, Payton Manning, Eli Manning and Tom Brady. All Superbowl winning QB's.
Not sure what your link proves, but thanks?Anyway, the 19-1 still stands and it wasn't the Saints that beat him. HTH.
Matty Ice is incredible....how many big games has he played in? oh thats right......ZERO......HOW MANY PLAYOFF WINS? ZERO.....Who are the defending Super Bowl champions.....The Saints.....Roddy White needs to get a clue and Matt Ryan needs to get a new nickname because he hasn't done anything in the NFL to earn that name. Its called respect and the Saints deserve some, but don't worry we love the Falcons acting like they have won something.

I agree. - Aside from the Ivory fumble and the Hartley miss, Brees basically cost the game with that boneheaded underhanded toss right to a Falcons DB when things had been on cruise control.

Ha Ha good thing I got my objective post in above this or you would have really made me look stupid

I have my FF Championship and my opponent, a fellow Orleanian has Drew Brees starting.May Drew throw 7 TD's and send my team down in a blaze of glory.

By the way - this is one of the NFL's great rivalries (often unrecognized) and after having been dormant for a few year because either or both teams were doing poorly, but it is truly awesome to have it back as a big time meaningful game.

Shoulda woulda coulda.....And I'm sure the Falcons are shakin' in their booties with the images of Ivory, PT, and Bush running through their heads.
First year watching football? Also, did a Lion fan really make a :hifive: joke?

WTH is he supposed to say, "We'll be lucky to even make it close."?
He probably shouldn't have said anything and do his talking on the field Monday Night.
Historically he's played pretty well against the Saints.....so his play on the field already does plenty of talking. This "bulletin board material" junk is just that....junk. If you really need the best player on the other team to say something like this to get you jacked up about a MNF game vs. your division rivals who happen to be standing firmly between you and a division title, then maybe you are an Aint.
Exactly right. Although this stuff does provide good entertainment when fans on message boards start posting about how such and such team disrespected them and NOW it's GAME ON!

ROFLMAO! Nah, Ryan wouldn't have made any difference. QB's playing at a high level rarely do. :hot: Also, best not to use the absence of Reggie Bush as an excuse for anything. He is an overrated piece of glass.

As a White and Ryan owner playing in the championship game, I'm not sure if this helps my cause or hurts it. Nonetheless, I'll roll with these two and hope that they both have a game similar to Week 10 vs. BAL.

I expect Brees to have a good game and force ATL to play from behind. I doubt ATL will have the opportunity to control the clock with the running game after the first quarter. I could be wrong, but this could have the making of a shootout.

New Orleans has lost to Arizona (LOL), Cleveland (LOL), Baltimore, and Atlanta

Atlanta lost to Pittsburgh and Philly

we're all scared of the big bad saints rolling in
