Rodgers Owners (1 Viewer)

With the Packers being stacked with weapons and such a high flying passing offense I decided to pick up Flynn just in case of injury, my other QB is Young. I'm not sure how good Flynn is but I don't see them trying to be a running offense if Rodgers were to go down.

Any other Rodgers owners due this?

if you have a roster spot then why not. someone in my league actually drafted Flynn just to exploit the rodgers owner if he goes down.

Rodgers is the most important player on the team. Would you roster Curtis Painter if you own Manning? If your superstar ends up hurt you are sunk. Hopefully that doesn't happen but that is reality for most owners that own the top7-8 QBs preseason rankings. The best back up of the top tier QBs IMO is Jon Kitna, he has the most experience and if thrust into a game could actually produce. The others who back up Rodgers, Manning, Schaub, Brees...those back ups IMO are worthless.

not necessarily worthless. Green Bay wouldn't all of a sudden become a running team. Neither would Indy or New Orleans either IMO. They would be as efficient or effective, but I can see those guys putting up passable fantasy numbers for sure, especially in 2 QB or flex QB leagues.

In deep leagues, I usually add Flynn and Hoyer to my roster for obvious reasons. (See Matt Cassel stats circa 2008)

There have been some back up QB's that have come in for an injured starter and put up big numbers in the past- Scott Mitchell, Mat Cassell and others. More often than not these guys put up numbers within their current system but not so much when moving on. I think this shows that the system may be greater than the talent in many of these situations.

The important aspect is the system, I would not consider cuffing many QB's but this is one that may be worth it. Let's face it if Rodgers were to go down Flynn would be a top WW pick up for the week and may be tough to get in a blind did or a WW priority system.

Flynn is actually a great backup that has a legit chance of becoming a starter down the road(somewhere else) . during the pack's preseason games it was mentioned that a few teams had inquired about his availability and the packers weren't listening. Flynn doesn't have rodgers gamebreaking decision making and accuracy but he does have alot of similar attributes. Flynn would perform very respectably if pressed into action

My team isn't good enough to think about handcuffing Rodgers. My season is done if he goes down . . . Flynn isn't going to save me. I need all of the bench spots I can get to mine for RBs. I'd probably roll with my man Josh Freeman if Rodgers gets hurt.
