Romo Done? (1 Viewer)

Not to sound ignorant but why cant QBs who injure their non throwing shoulder (like Alex Smith & now Romo) play with the injury?

Can't take snaps properly with one shoulder. Probably can't rotate your shoulders to get the proper torque on the ball either.

Medical Treatment (clavicle = collarbone)

The vast majority of collarbone fractures can be treated with a simple sling. Sometimes a swath is wrapped around the sling to hold it to the body. Occasionally a figure-of-eight splint is used. This wraps around both shoulders and the neck to hold the shoulders back and up. Either method is appropriate treatment for the broken collarbone. You will be instructed to wear the sling at all times until there is no further pain with movement. This is usually 2-4 weeks for children and 4-8 weeks for adults.

Expected Duration

If your fracture is treated without surgery, you probably will be able to return to your normal level of physical activity once the ends of your collarbone have healed back together, and the healed area is firm. This usually means waiting for at least six weeks after your shoulder strength and range of motion have returned to normal. In some cases, X-rays may be necessary to confirm that your collarbone has healed completely.

If you need surgery to repair your fractured collarbone, it may take four to six months before you can return to strenuous activities at work or on the playing field. :ptts:

Even if it were just a couple weeks and then a pain tolerance thing...based on Kitna's performance thus far...I'm pretty concerned they wouldnt allow him to hurry back just to lower their draft pick anyways.

That is how long you wear a sling but it takes longer than that to fully heal. I think he's done.

can they go out of the shotgun every snap? I know its not ideal just wondering. I have no dog in this fight.

Unless the Cowboys miraculously start winning games, Romo is done for the year. No reason to rush him back to play 2 or 3 meaningless regular season games.

he's gonna be done for the year (or very close to it for fantasy purposes). What a disaster of a season for the cowboys.

From WikiThe immobilization(sling) is followed by a theraputic regimen of passive exercises, and later of active exercises. Full radiological union is typically achieved in 16 weeks for adult surgical patients, and shorter times are achieved by teenagers and young children. In patients who participated in prescribed physical therapy, 85-100% mobility returned in 6–9 months, with full strength returning in 9–12 months. So it takes about 4 months for the bone to fully heal. Even if it is his non-throwing shoulder it could easily get re-broken if not fully allowed to heal. Got to believe he is done this year but should be OK to start next year.

No, he won't be able to throw the ball properly. Throwing a football is not just using your right hand and slinging it forward. Also, after he takes the first hit to a broken shoulder, he'd wish he were dead.

Plus, based on JJs resounding vote of confidence for Phillips..."He's the right coach, for now..." I see a cleaning of the house here. I know things. :lmao: I also see dead people.

How long until we see Stephen McGee? I figure Kitna will get a few games before he's pulled.

Why isn't this in this in the Game Thread or the Injury Thread? This thread is just wasting precious space that could otherwise be dedicated to speculation about James Davis and BenJarvis Green-Ellis.
