Guy will be the #1 for a team with a QB who though is young likes to air it out.

Well worth the risk being that he is like the 50th receiver in early mocks i have seen

any reasons why he cant be real solid?

He's got the Athletic ability, but he was inconsistent a year ago. Bring in Russell, and that doesn't really figure to improve. Add that to the fact that Javon Walker just got PAID. Curry doesn't present any real risk where he's going, so he's not a terrible pick later in drafts, still as it stands the reward doesn't seem the highest either.

He will likely outperform his draft position, but he's not likely to carry anybody's fantasy team.

You can likely draft him as your WR5, but he has WR3 upside. Not a bad late round guy to pick up.

Walker is a health risk and i think of him as their 2

But i guess Walker is 1 and Curry is 2 on second thought

Did you really change your mind that quickly? :hot:
 I do agree though that I think Curry is underrated slightly. He's been moving up boards. Walker is a relative steal right now, but Curry has the potential to be an above average possession receiver. Problem with Curry is he has problems making the easy catch, but he blows you away with some of his circus grabs. Curry's a wildcard with Russell at the helm, but I would be taking him in the mid WR40s.

Dropped some balls last year.

No idea what we'll get from JaMarcus, but we can assume they will be a run first team. They also had a tendency last year to spread the ball around. Not sure I see a lot of starter-worthy games from Curry.

If there is a sleeper on that offense, I might go with Zach Miller. If JaMarcus uses him as a security blanket, might be a top 15 TE or so. I don't think I'd want him as a starter, but I am definitely targeting him as a backup.

Curry will be 29 when the season starts and has yet to 'break out.' I would expect him to be a serviceable WR4, but no more.

He's had 62 and 55 catches each of the last two years, each for over 700 yards. He also went from 1 to 4 TDs last year.

He definitely has value in a PPR league.

I think with a good qb he can do some things. The question is whether Russell is that qb. This guy was the pg of the UNC basketball team as well as the only player in history to win both the high school player of the year in basketball and football. His athletic ability is off the charts. He just needs someone to throw him the ball.

Bye week filler at best. He has no QB. I cut him as my #6 WR in favor of Drew Bennett who will no doubt be cut to make room for a rookie WR sometime during the year. He would be a weekly starter on a good team.

He has the top player taken in last year's draft. We have no idea how well or how fast Russell will develop in his 2nd year, and his first year with a training camp as starter under his belt. "He has no QB" is a very narrow minded comment IMO.

I agree with the Miller call. Look who had 8 catches in week 17 - Russell's first game? Zach Miller. He's definitely the best candidate to turn into that security blanket.

Curry should be commended for coming back from tearing the same Achilles twice, and he shows some great courage and grit on the field. Too bad he'll never be the guy we thought he could be after his breakout in 04. I would also watch out for Drew Carter and Johnnie Lee Higgins - both have the speed to run under Russell's bombs.

Not sure if that matters a lot in this situation. Curry was a QB in college and was expected to take a few years before he was a true threat at the WR position. Throw in a couple of injuries, and an absolutely miserable team around him, and you should be able to see that he'd have to be the second coming of Rice to post great numbers. In fact, when you consider what he DID accomplish given all of his circumstances, I think that his potential upside is MUCH MUCH higher then currently being touted. He may finally have a QB, he's over his injuries, and he now has the experiance.

60ish catches on a miserable team is nothing to sneeze at........the op is right..he's beeing under-rated and over-looked.

Interesting take. I definitely haven't looked at his situation from that angle.I agree with a couple of the previous comments:*Walker will play the roll of WR1 on the field*Curry's value is higher in PPR leagues*Miller will be the threat to steal a lot of balls on throwing downsOverall I think his value will be higher then the 50th WR taken, but I wouldn't put him any higher then the WR3 in a 12 team league on any given week.

His catches dropped from 62 in 2006 to 55 last season. He's part of a miserable offense that should continue to have growing pains.

Walker, Miller and Drew Carter will steal the minimal

number of catches that are out there

Worthy of a late round flier, but a Bye week filler at best, imo.

a low end WR3 seems about right to me for this season, but his upside may be as high as a solid WR2. Because of that, I'm a little bit higher on him for dynasty, as it may take a season or two to reach that upside due to his very young QB.

Agreed what others have said. I love Curry, but as of now he's nothing more than a potential WR3, most likely a bye week filler. Again as others have mentioned the sleeper here is Zach Miller. He can block, so he'll never get off the field, and he has good receiving skills.

In 2006, Moss played 13 games and had 42 catches. Curry had 62 in the same year.

Fast forward to 2008 - it is difficult to predict how good or bad the Raiders will be with Russel at QB. However, it wouldn't shock me if Curry is again their leading receiver even with Walker on the team.

has a ton of potential, but thats another way of saying 'never having done it'he is wildly inconsistent, and plays in an offense with a 2nd year player/first time starter (Russell) at QB. That usually means time of possession will be WAY down as the 'new guy' learns the ropes, makes mistakes, etc.. With fewer opportunities how can you expect Curry to do more than he has in the past? Even Peyton Manning was error-prone his first full season as a starter. Curry isn't the #1 WR in Oakland, Walker is...It would be hard to imagine Walker catching just 70 balls in '08, let alone Curry ( 50-60?)Realistically, would you rather have Anthony Gonzalez as a #2 WR in Indy , or Curry as a #2 in Oakland?Would you rather have Amani Toomer or Curry?I'd put Curry way below Toomer and Gonzalez.

Curry ranked 40th and 45th the past two years and now the Raiders have Walker and Russell (which IMO won't help his cause). Curry has struggled to stay healthy to boot, so I think he's going about where he should be draft wise.
