Ronnie Brown....... (1 Viewer)

I don't think anybody is likely to have anything firm for you prior to tomorrow. It's entirely possible that he wasn't hurt all that badly and they just pulled him out of an abundance of precaution. He tried to plant and it didn't take. They seemed to be looking at both legs. He walked off under his own power. It could be anything from the most minor of injuries all the way to a ligament strain or probably even a ligament tear.

I know it sucks. I'm a Dolphins fan, and he is at the head of the "what's right with the Dolphins" category. That's a really short category, too.

Saw the replay on NFL.com. Doesn't look good. His foot caught in the ground as he was falling. Looks like he twisted his knee a bit. If I had to guess I'd say best case is a sprained ankle. Worst case is torn knee ligaments.

if he was in a lot of pain that's great news, torn ligaments usually doesn't cause as much as the nerves tear with the ligament. A sprain stretches and puts stress on the nerves and it hurts a lot more. Can't remember where I read that but it was from a medical site when I hurt my knee and was trying to figure out if there were tears in the knee.

He was clearly in a lot of pain. You can see the replay for yourself here:http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d803772ed

The injury happens at 3:02.

Just heard the post game locker room interview with Ronnie; Ronnie said after the game he felt pretty good but that he'll wait for the MRI and go from there.

I'm a Brown owner and I'm scared. It didn't look good.

I have Brown in one league, I also have lost a number of RBs over the years. I would say Brown is done.

Any chance Lorenzo Booker could emerge as the starting RB if Ronnie is out for an extended period?
If Chatman is healthy, I'd say no.If Chatman is out of the picture as well, I think it's possible they might go Booker over Cobbs.
Chatman did look fine and played at the end of the game, correct?
Chatman scored a TD so his injury was not serious enough
Yeah, that's my understanding as well. I only brought Chatman hurting up because it seems to me that the backup RB gets hurt right after the starter a healthy percentage of the time. Consider Carnell Williams and Michael Pittman, for instance. If Brown is out for some period of time, Chatman starts next week. If he goes down, I think maybe the team goes to Booker over Cobbs because I think Cobbs is probably the next guy and the one who isn't inactive because of special teams considerations.

I hate this hobby.
:goodposting: He'd pretty much been the best thing I had going on one of my miserable dynasty teams. :wall:
Me too. I am not too worried yet as he did walk off the field and I didn't think the injury looked that bad, although he was clearly in pain immediately after.
I own RB in every league. I am worried, as I watched Miami post game show and Cam stated that he will find out more later, but he wasn't sounding too optimistic in my opinion. Someone said above that Ronnie himself said he think he is OK, but then I hear reports that he was seen leaving in an air cast and crutches. I can just hope he is OK, but man, it isn't sounding great

Link? I have not seen this anywhere. If this is true, that is much more positive than I am hearing.

Ricky Williams might be next in line.
Sure, if he's reinstated and is in shape. Too many ifs in my book. I have a feeling he's not going to get word on his reinstatement until the offseason.

Glazer just reported on the OT that Ronnie Brown said he's hoping it's not his worst fear an ACL, the doctors said it could be anything an ACL, cartilage, they won't know more til the MRI. Xrays were inconclusive. He said Brown was hoping it was cartilage and not the dreaded ACL.

If they are talking about the ACL, it probably is something to do with a ligament.

Glazer just added a little to the Ronnie Brown postgame quote. Brown said it could be anything from cartilage to the ACL... and he's worried it's the ACL...

*sigh*

If they fear it isn't the ACL, I fear it's going to come out being the ACL. It's going to be a really bitter pill to see the one thing going really right with the Dolphins have such a career threatening injury while attempting to make a tackle on a pick.

If that's what they're talking, my guess is that ligament strain is the best case scenario.

Yeah, Glazer said they were "hoping" that it was only cartilage. As if torn cartilage was good news. :moneybag:

I just watched this again and it's not pretty. RB is a tough guy and he looked in a lot of pain. I'm not a doc but that doesn't look good. :scared:

For what it's worth (nothing), my hats off to Ronnie Brown and all his owners. There was nobody in the preseason I disliked more, and I could not have been more wrong about him. He deserves to come out of this OK. I am real interested to see how he playes out the rest of the year.

Chatman looked real good on that one run...real good.

Booker has been talked about playing WR as they like Cobbs too. Cobbs is one of those mr. preseason types that we never (or almost never)have seen in the regular season

Even if it's a 4-6 week injury, what's the point of coming back?

He was the only bright spot on a horrible 0-7 season. I don't see why they rush him back, let him rehab, and see you next June RB.

It's never a good combination when a FF stud gets hurt, and he's on an awful awful team.

From RotoWorld:

The Dolphins are initially calling Ronnie Brown's knee injury a sprain. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the injury's exact extent.Brown, who was injured in the third quarter Sunday while trying to make a tackle on an interception return, left Dolphins Stadium on crutches with his right leg in an air cast. He says X-rays came back negative, but more will be known on Monday. Knee sprains can be multiple-week injuries. Jesse Chatman will start vs. the Giants in Week 8 if Brown can't play.

It could just need rest. Way too early to talk about career threatening injury. Even an ACL tear is not career threatening these days, but it would be season ending.

Ronnie sounds optimistic, but reserved. He was on his way to a pro bowl, I hope this is something he can come back after the bye week from! Here's another....

Ronnie Brown told FOX's Jay Glazer after Sunday's game that his worst fear is that he tore his ACL.

Brown won't know the full extent of his injury until he gets an MRI Monday, and since initial X-rays were negative, it seems unlikely that his ACL is torn. But Jesse Chatman should be owned in all leagues at this point, and Brown owners shouldn't be counting on him to play vs. the Giants in Week 8.

Xrays don't show ACL tears. Mine were negative when I tore my acl. Doctors can usually tell when they physically examine your knee. The MRI will confirm the examination and show the extent of the tear.

john clayton said at about 10:30 eastern that they dont think its that serious (not ACL serious) for RB when talking about today's injuries

For whatever that is worth.

This makes me feel a little better. Anyone know when to expect official MRI results?

OK. so in my Dynasty league I started the year with SJax, Ronnie, Deuce and Chester Taylor. Then I added Brandon Jackson and Lorenzo Booker in the rookie/FA draft (for insurance). hmmm...the hits just keep on coming
