Rookie SHOWDOWN ** SLATON -versus- C.JOHNSON ** (1 Viewer)

What we know-

CJ3 splits time with Lendale although he is the MAIN carrier.

Slaton pretty much is fulltime, but he plays against a top run def.

Slaton also has pretty much produced against so called good def.

CJ3 is real real fast.

Slaton was compared to .......BARRY SANDERS this past sunday, he did make a ankle breakin move in the hole though.

Who you FBG'ers rolling with for the most FANTASY production this weekend?

Let me see ... one of them faces one of the top rush defense, while the other does not ... seems like an easy call :wall:

I'd start Johnson. White is really just a change of pace/short yardage back. Please see mine.

And yet, the one who faced that top rush defense back in September ran eighteen times for a buck sixteen and a touch while the other one ran sixteen times for seventy four yards. At Possum Holler, no less. Go figure.

I'm still starting CJ

I probably would, too, but this one's not as simple as posternutbag thinks it is.

Well this is interesting. I have CJ3, my opponent has Slaton. I feel it will be close. If I'm not mistaken, Slaton outperformed Johnson the last time. Who knows?

I'm in the same boat as you.. I think they both will do fine. The thing about Slaton is that he catches so many passes that he will get yards via the pass if running it tough..

Barry Sanders? Come on.Maybe Tiki or Warrick Dunn.
 I don't remember Barry playing behind a zone blocking scheme or having the supporting cast Slaton has on offense. But to answer the OP's question, I'm hoping it's CJ3 that has the better numbers.

Well it wasnt me saying it, it was the broadcaster, but HONESTLY, he really did look like Barry, I was SOOOOO wrong about Mr.Slaton, i got him in 2 trades during the year but i just wanted a warm body, i told most on here that asked me about him since im a homer and i said at the most he would just be a COP rb, but watching him NOW......he is as close to a WESTY clone as ive seen, i hear some say Dom Davis but thats way off.... Only thing they have in common is that they both played for the Texans. Slaton has that "nack" of finding the hole and then bursting through it. Doesnt always go down easy either. One negative i did notice about him is that in the past game where he has had his most carried to date, it seem he wore down a bit after 15-18 rushes. He had way more touches than that being involved in the passing game but on his rushes he seemed to lose some of the burst, and he fumbled too late. That might keep him from being an everydown rb like WESTY. As for this weeked, im gonna roll with SLATON on this one. I think the Texans O will open up alot of room for him to produce via air/ground.

I'm starting them both and hoping for 100 yards and a TD from both.
Actually im starting BOTH of them 2 in different leagues, and i hope they BOTH go off, but aside from that, I wondered which of these SUPER ROOKS will have a better game. You gots to think they both wanna out play each other as along with them and Forte, all of them are in the hunt for rookie of the year sorta. (M.Ryan)

Sanders was surrounded by a pretty good offense. Moore was a stud for years, Perriman and Morton were excellent receivers and the O line had a few pro bowlers. Id take the mid 90s Lions offense over the modern day Texans in a heartbeat.

Barry had one Pro Bowler OL on (Lomas Brown?) 3 seperate occasions I believe.... he played 10 years. The OL then was hardly better than now overall.Perriman and Morton were excellent receivers... what? Maybe decent receivers, with 9 in the box.

My "problem"? I have Westbrook, Johnson, LenDale, AND Slaton ... but can only start three.

LenDale's guaranteed to get the TDs, so I'm leaning toward benching Slaton.

Looks like Slaton had more yards again agaisnt a TUFF run def. One of the best i seen all year.

There was like no, and i mean NO running lanes at all, and im wondering why the coach doesnt call for a toss or sweep type plays, there was nothing up the middle.

But anyone that thinks Slaton isnt tuff need to watch this game how he fought for extra yards. How he made cuts in traffic although he didnt get any big gains from it, cause the titans run def was swarming like bees. Still he eventually stayed at it and had a decent day.

CJ3 if they ran him more probably would have had more yards, he had 2 very good runs to start the game.

Both of the rb's looks like some nice ones though.
