ROS Kicker Recommendation (1 Viewer)

I think I'm done chasing Kickers. I've tried everything, including Herman's rankings. Thinking I'm just going to stick out Novak now due to weather/matchups. He should get chances.

Hartley and Novak for me.

Hartley has missed some field goals lately, but he makes up for it with extra extra points in that high flying offense.

They worked out like 3 guys today. He might be losing his job lol

Ouch, guess I should pay attention to that for this week.

Glad I commented in this thread, as I may not have looked, although I assume someone would have started a thread about it if they do make the switch.

I'm assuming a lot of sharkpool members have Hartley rostered.

Hartley's last three games:

0 for 2 on FGs in week 8

2 for 3 on FGs in week 9

0 for 1 on FGs in week 10

He leads the league the last three weeks in PATs, however, with 14. For the season he's 2nd, with 31, behind Prater's 47 PATs.

Hartley has been on the verge of losing his job a few times the last few years with stretches of inaccuracy. He has six misses for the season (16/22, 73%).

I generally don't try to stream kickers since it doesn't work very well in my experience, unlike with D/STs. But with difficult match ups coming up, plenty of FG misses lately, and with the Saints trying out Shayne Graham, Neil Rackers, and Derek Demke (who?), it might be time to reexamine his place on your FF team's roster.

For the rest of you who are Hartley owners - I recommend (if you have a roster spot) snagging Folk or Novak if available. Folk is on fire but may have to deal with weather...Novak has a balmier outlook. Either way I'll ride Hartley until they pull the plug but it would be nice to have options before they are all gone.

Well Akers sucked, so I guess I'm shifting to the hot hand in Phil Dawson for a week.
Yep. Getting no FGs is always a possibility when your kicker plays on a high-powered offense. But of more concern is that Akers missed a FG and the Lions passed on a 49 yard FG attempt on 4th and 1 (I'm not saying it was a bad decision NFL-wise, but I want my kicker to get all the attempts).

I'm sticking with him for at least one more week due to his week 15 and 16 being in the dome.

I have Hartley, but I hope they replace him so I can immediately pickup whoever takes his spot. Getting the New Orleans kicker is always a good option.

Random question.

Why can't FG kickers do punts and kickoffs? What's the need of paying another person to handle punts?

Different skills, different training involved. I could imagine training for punts could mess with your accuracy on field goals.

You do see more punters that do kickoffs. Morstead - NO, McAfee - IND, Martin - DET, Bosher - ATL, Koenen - TB, etc

Money where my mouth is... got Folk in three leagues.

Leading the league in FGA having already gone through his bye. I know NY weather could potentially be an issue, but he's been money. Kickers earn their keep through FGs, not XPs. I think Geno, Ivory, and the D create a good scenario for his attempts to stay strong, and he hasn't missed once all year.

All in.

I just dropped Hartley after reading the news of the Saints auditioning kickers. I picked up Akers although Succop was available. Whoever takes over Hartley will probably be my next target

Long time ago the Saints drafted a guy out of UT in the 1st round who they thought could kick, kick long FGs, kickoff and punt, and even serve as a 3rd/4th string QB in a pinch or even throw on 4th downs.

Total disaster.

I just used my first ever (low priority) waiver position on a kicker to get Folk, because I'm just as bullish on him as you are. My roster is set for the playoffs, and kicker was the final piece.

Waived Novak and passed on Succop for him. The numbers don't lie; I'll risk bitter weather for that kind of opportunity.

So I picked up Folk after he was dropped due to the bye week.

It's expected to be a monsoon up in New York

:( wat do?

Dropped Crosby for Gosotki today and pretty happy. Crosby defitnally taking a hit with rodgers out.
He actually hasn't taken a hit since Rodgers has been out. He is still getting the opportunities, he just has missed on some FGs. Last week he missed two out of four FGs.

Was that Thunderfoot Erxleben? He had a couple of huge misses (Rams/Niners) that he just mentally never recovered from.

Flavor of the week for me:

Jay Feeley. Multiple FGs in 4 straight games, and multiple FGs in all of his games this year in which he kicked one (only had 1 and 2 XP respectively at the Saints & Niners...tough games for the team.)

We'll see.

Yep, the Saints only carried one kicking specialist, him.

Living example of how the kicking game is 80% mental.

I've ended up holding on Crosby. I was worried but he could have had a great game if he had hit on those two long FGs.

Where are you seeing it's expected to be a monsoon in NY? The weather reports look positive. I was thinking of picking up Josh Brown.

The Jets play in Buffalo and rain is expected. The Giants are playing at home and only very slight chance of rain during the game.

Folk

Succop

Hartley

Suisham

Tucker

Who you rather have during playoffs?
I've been rolling with Hartley in all leagues all season. For some reason I like to field the same kicker if I can.

The saints can move the ball and he gets a couple of field goals and a bunch of extra points. When they don't move the ball as well he seems to make up for it with field goals.

His misses haven't affected me in any games, or I might be singing a different tune.

Came up clutch for me last week.

Thank you sir!

What about the Saints facing Carolina twice during Fantasy Playoffs? Not sure if thats a good thing (stopping them for getting TDs and settling for FGs)

or a bad thing (keeping them from scoring all together)

That's a good point. I usually over-analyze and make a lot of shifts in the playoffs. I will come to that road when I cross it though. I don't usually roster kickers more than a week, because I'm of the belief that kickers are a crapshoot for the most part.

Gostkowski scored 8 points against Carolina on Monday, which is solid. (more if you get some bonus for 40-49 yarders).

I will never complain with 8 from a kicker on any given night, and Hartley has the upside of being in the red zone more often than other even if the Saints aren't scoring on the Panthers at will.

But again, I haven't really looked at the rest of the options for the playoff weeks. Still trying to secure my playoff spot, which is what I'm focused on and Hartley needs to get me there before I worry too much.

Strength of schedule for a K is a complete statistical crapshoot. Almost no correlation exists and predictions can be thrown out.

Go with who has been producing this year... someone ... Tucker, Folk, Crosby etc.

Hoping for a bounceback from Folk, though I swapped him out in one league for Vinatierri who someone dropped, and in a second for Crosby, who's producing despite the lack of Rogers, has an excellent matchup this week, and should get Rogers back for the playoffs.

I'm trying not to panic on Folk though. Replays of that kick showed it on-line from 50+ until the wind moved it 20 yards right. if you add a 50-yarder to the two extra points... well, could be worse for a down week.

I'm gonna give him another week to show me something. I also think the Jets are growing impatient with Geno, and I doubt he gets 3/4 of the game to suck against the Ravens before they pull him for Simms. That may not help much, but it could also lead to a mini boost for the offense like we've seen with other backup QBs this season.

If Folk sucks this week, though... I may go back to chasing. Henery could be out there given the bye; Carpenter has put together a solid season for BUF and the offense is coming together, etc.

I had just committed to Folk and decided to ride him the rest of the way, and last week didn't really shake my confidence, but I am getting a little nervous about him playing all those late-season games in the swirling winds of the Meadowlands, especially since Novak is still out there.

Had considered dumping Crosby these past couple of weeks, but he's managed to keep trundling along with reasonable scores. Holding firm for the good schedule and Rodgers coming back. He will have the chance to accrue some more monsters scores in the decisive weeks I reckon.

There's always the "hope someone cuts Hauschka on his bye" approach. Just happened in one of my leagues.

I'll be putting in a claim.

Me too.

Agreed. I dropped him for Folk after Rodgers went down, but am switching back. Folk's been pretty good, but I trust his offense a lot less than GB's, especially in weeks 15/16. Rodgers should be back and the GB schedule is great: @DAL, vs. PIT--both are looking like shootouts, and if the weather looks bad in week 16, at least there won't be many other owners on the waiver wire.

and how accurate is Herman's Kickermania thing? I've never used it before. I picked up Dan Bailey after someone dropped him....but I see that he's only ranked like 10th and Feely is all the way up at 3rd ..that I might switch to

I'm going to roll with Folk ROS, no matter what last weekend indicated. Surely, the Jets won't be behind to that extent another week for the rest of the season.
