Rothlisberger's Comments on Letterman (1 Viewer)

After the game, Cowher said that they were going for it if the call was overturned.  A lot of people seem to be forgetting it would have been 4 & inches and are just deducting 7 points from the Steelers.
You're right - but let's not forget how the steelers did on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and short assuming the refs called it down at the inch line. The fact is we just don't know, and can't assume either way.
They scored on 3rd down :football:
Try reading next time. ;)
I loathe reading :wall:

You guys are STILL arguing this play??

:loco:

#1 - This was not the only play that mattered in the game

#2 - Seattle had MANY opportunites to put this game away

#3 - IT WAS OVER ALMOST 5 DAYS AGO! Let it go Johnny...

Seriously. The Championship will have an asterick, let it go already!

*Good. As long as it's not an asterisk*

Hey Onion,I know you're all distraught and all, but can you watch this and tell me with a straight face you don't see the obvious?

Rothlisberger said on Letterman that he was not in the endzone, and sort of chuckled about it. This is yet another reason to hate this quarterback.
How the hell can you hate him for this? An athlete admitting that the refs blew a call in his advantage is amazing to me, and I have gained a ton of respect for him because of it.

:lmao: RE: Holmgren Addressing Seattle fans

I have no problem with this as he simply addressing the Seattle fans. If this was a post game address intended for a National audience, I would feel differently.

RE: Jackson pass interference

This one killed me as the guy goes right to the NFL rule book and proceeds to read the rule book word for word. As he reads the first sentence that says a 'a wide receiver who initiates contact' and the video in the background clearly shows the Steeler initiating the contact.

RE: Holding

Darn right comical that he reference Locklear as 'clearly' holding when we cannot even see Locklear's right arm in the video.

RE: Roethlisberger touchdown

The guy shows the video and stops it right when the football apparently crosses the pain. At which point he says, anything that happens after this moment does not matter but fails to point out the referee did not signal touchdown and did not signal touchdown for a few minutes later.

I am not going to make a statement that these calls were good calls or not. In regards to the video and the moron doing the telecast, that man has no idea what he is doing.

In closing, I was able to speak to a good friend of mine today who is a Steeler fan and not the typical whinney fans I hear so much from here. He put it best,

"The Superbowl win was like any plane landing you can walk away from, it was a successful one."

That actually doesnt sum it up at all.

I really thought Holmgren's comments were lame ("beneath him" - as Cris Collinsworth put it correctly on Inside the NFL) and it's a credit to Seahawk fans that a lot of them were booing that remark after he uttered it.
I did not get the impression at all the Seahawk fans were booing Holmgren -- I thought they were booing the refs.
Yeah, maybe. I heard some initial cheering and then it turned to boos - they probably were booing the refs, now that you mention it. I was hoping maybe some of the fans were booing him for making excuses, but you're right, that's probably not the case at all.
Oh come on--he was talking to his partisans. What did they want to hear? Give him a break. Holmgren's comments were absolutely fine, for the surroundings in which they were presented. To say anything else about his remarks is just sour grapes (only from the anti-Seattle variety).

This is a perfect example of "You see what you WANT to see". This is my last post regarding all the belly-aching.First, I agree the Seahawks got hosed on the chop-block call on Hasselbeck and the holding call on the punt return. I cannot find any merit in those calls. I have the ability to view things objectively AND understand that calls like this are a part of the game.

The Roeth TD is absolutely the correct call... Why would I try and distort what is obvious? The game is over, I am not the one looking for something to help me accept what happened. The ball broke the plane, there's no question.

The other calls are subjective...or...open to interpretation.

The video shows why the refs made the calls.

The push off - is DJax's arm EXTENDED into the defender? YES. Did this arm extension into the defender create space? YES. The interpretation was Offensive PI. Don't extend your arm to create separation and it doesn't get called. Blame Djax not the ref who was 2 feet away from the play.

Holding - Haggans is completely around the Locklear...yet he's got Haggans by the shoulderpad. Locklear is looking at Haggans BACK yet he's impeding his progress...how does he do this? Easy...HE'S HOLDING HIM.

Were these calls absolutely obvious, I'd say no. But aftter being able to watch the video, it's EASY to see how the actions on the field were interpreted as penatlies.

A wise man once said, "Losers blame refs for losses" (Let alone concession stands) but I digress...

That is all, good luck next year Seattle, hope to see you in the big game again.

Sour grapes? Whatever, he can say what he wants. I just thought he was above that sort of thing, but I was wrong.
