Roy Williams outlook week 7? (1 Viewer)

How much playing time can Roy get with just signing up with the team? ST Louis would be a good matchup, but how much will he actually play?

I would think that WR would be easier to transition...Roy just run a post... run a slant...

The biggest problem I see is timing. He will have no rapport with Johnson and that will be difficult to say: Run a slant, run a deep in, etc.

Williams will have just about the same rapport with Johnson that TO does. Johnson will be practicing with the 1st team full time for the first time this week... so... Roy will be there too.

I think that is a crap shoot. Who knows, really nobody. I think you have to start him but look for the updates through the week.

When Chambers was traded to the Chargers last season he had an extra week of practice with Rivers due to their week 7 bye. Here were his numbers for his first three games as a Charger:

vs Hou 2 rec 35 yds 1 td

vs MIN 5 rec 59 yds 0 td

vs IND 2 rec 17 yds 0 td

I would be surpised if RW perfomed much better given the circumstances.

.....they're playing the Rams at home.

Brad Johnson's a pro. If RW runs the routes he's told to, he'll have a fine day. nothing spectacular, but I'd say 4-5 catches, 55-65 yards, with a good shot at a TD.

I'd say Roy will not show much until Romo is back.
I was thinking the same, but even when Romo comes back they will be starting from scratch in terms of getting used to each other. Hopefully Romo will be paying close attention at practice the next few weeks. For this weekend, I'll say 3 grabs for 32.

WRs signing w/new team mid-season typically do little initially - not to mention Romo out and sharing with Witten, Owens, and (I guess) Crayton. Expect a token catch or 2 at most.

I've been trying to decide between RW and Colsten for this week as my wr3. It's always hard to tell what a receiver may do after a trade to a new system, or in Colsten's case, a long absence. Both receivers will be hungry to perform, but with the uncertanties at QB for the Cowboys it's a tough call to start them.

Who did you pick?

He probably couldn't go wrong with either . . .

Yeah, he's on my bench this week for C.Benson. I just can't see him catching more that 3-4 balls. I'm keeping him there until he shows me a good solid game.
