Rule Changes/Updates (1 Viewer)

I wish Yards after Catch were tracked...then adjust reception yards and pass yards according to the work the person actually did.

For instance...a 99 yard bomb to Berrian from Frerotte. 30 yards of it through the air...69 yards YAC. Give the 30 yard points to Frerotte...and 69 yard points to Berrian.

This would make throws like screens/smoke routes less for QBs that really didn't do much. For instance...the smoke route Delhomme to Smith uses so much. 1 yard pass out...Smith runs the rest on his own. Only Smith gets the total-1 yards for the reception.

This is very intriguing. How would you assign a TD reception? Only to the WR if he ran it in after the catch? Both QB and WR if it is caught in the endzone? Or split the TD? (3 for WR, 3 for QB)This could lead to QB scoring 1pt/10yds passing since the "passing" yardage would greatly decrease. Add in the possibility of removing some TD's from QBs and you could have scoring more on par with RB's and WR's.This would be very difficult to score automatically. And I don't want to manually compute scores every week. But I like the idea.

I'd like to see plays (either run or pass reception) for first downs be worth more then the standard/ppr scoring.

Moving the chains should be worth something extra IMO.

Pasquino wrote an excellent article titled "Points per Deception" some time ago that addresses this. The point was to more fairly improve WR/TE scoring relative to RB so adding in a point for a first down run would basically nullify it.

I've seen leagues that give a crazy amount of points for rare things like missed XP attempts.

I've always kicked around the idea of a league that tied your passing numbers together -- If your QB throws for 200 yards and 2 TDs, then that's all the receiving stats you can get that week from your WRs/RBs/TE. Anything above that threshold is ignored.

In one of the leagues that I play in (on CBS) we use 1 pt per 1st down reception in lieu of 1 PPR as it rewards the real NFL value in "moving the chains" and eliminates tallying points for catches that generate little or no gain.

Very cool idea...I see that there are first down point options @ MFL. Now to see if owners will go for a change like this.People generally don't like change.

Yes, why do people suck so much? Except us of course!

I added one IDP to the weekly lineup just to get a taste of what it is like. Players seemed to like it. I found it interesting and challenging. Even the FBG rankings seemed to struggle who would come up big. Watching the intensity of linebacker play was often a barometer of overall team defensive effort. FYI, Starting Eric Barton over Kirk Morrisson cost me a playoff game this past week.

Does anyone award money each week to the owner who has the most points for that given week? I always thought that that may be fun to do.

When the XFL had their one season of glory, me and some friends did an XFL fantasy league. I can't remember which site sponsored it, but we used three IDP guys broken up over three categories -- DL, LB and DB. The big wrinkle was in how the IDP players affected the other teams offensive performance. You could load up vs. the run and play multiple DLs (and your opponent's rushing stats were penalized like 25% but their passing stats were incread 10%), or youy could sell out vs. the pass with multiple DBs and get the reverse (-25% on opponents' assing stats but +10% on their rushing totals). We never used it much, but I thought it would make an interesting wrinkle, especially in larger leagues.

ETA: As far as sheer craziness goes, you could always try an AFL fantasy league (assuming it's still in business), or even a college football fantasy league.

Yes, very easy and fun addition to a league. Sucks when you miss it by single digit points multiple times. My main money league also used to do the CBS pick'em where you pick the weekly winners in your league. You could do a weekly payout on that, but we just did 1 payout at the end of the season. It just got too time consuming so we all gave up on it.
