Rumor: Takeo Spikes Trade CLose? (1 Viewer)

If this move gets done, McNabb is back at at least 85% AND the Eagles get Bunkley's head on straight, I can't see how they can't be the favorite in the NFC.
:bs:
He might be a homer, however the NFC is rather weak, so it comes down to Eagles, Saints and Bears...oh my
I'd put Seattle up there too, they should return to form after a disappointing year. Never mind there's always 1 surprise team, so to say that Philly is the favorite is far from the truth.
:) Of all teams, why SEA? They're in a serious regression. At least relative to other teams in NFC and their own division.

I'm not sold that Seattle will even win their division. In the NFC I think Chicago, Philly and NO are the cream of the crop. Than a decent gap, followed by Dallas ( :goodposting: ). After that, well, maybe the Giants, Carolina and Seattle. All those teams have serious holes though. Not saying the top 3 teams I mentioned don't have holes (Grossman, McNabb, suspect run defenses for all of them) but that's the nature of the beast in the NFC.

I don't see any major flaws with Seattle. Kerney acquisition should provide a decent pass rush again.

Not win the NFC West, who's going to step up, the 49ers? They might have improved on defense, but regressed on offense. Rams haven't done much to impress me this offseason and AZ, well AZ is AZ.

I think the Rams will surprise some people this year. If you stuck a gun to my head and said choose one, I'd take Seattle, but I think it'll be close. I do agree the 49ers are a year away though.

WIP/Eagles boards are saying Spikes is due in town for a physical this afternoon or tomorrow morning....(giddy like school-girl...)
I've always been a Spikes fan, even when he cried his way out of Cincinnati. Hopefully, he won't turn into another Shawn Barber -- talented three down backer who can't stay healthy in his later years. Be interesting to see where they slot him. He could fit in all three roles. SLB if Gocong can't go. MLB if Trotter is done and they want a bigger body than Gaither in the middle. Or WLB with either Trotter or Gaither in the middle.
Completely agree. His versatility would be a big reason he ends up here. The achilles doesn't concern me at all. The ankle/hammy stuff from last year kind of does. But I know he's a tough SOB and even 1 or 2 years would be worth it while a long term answer is cultivated.
he is definitely versatle if you like LBs that can't move anymore. :thanks: His legs shot- but he has a big name - so he must be good.
IF Spikes and Trotter are on the field together the Eagles might as well just blitz them each play because neither guy can cover anyone anymore. If I see both of them on the field, I am audibling to pass every time.

:own3d: I love Takeo, but the TKO I saw last year shuffling around the field was such a shell of his former self. It's like watching Sam Cowart all over again.

The deal is done according to the Eagles website. Spikes and QB Kelly Holcomb to the Eagles for DT Darwin Walker and a conditional 2008 draft pick.

It's fun to read fan forums. I was checking out the Bills forum and a fan is saying "I know who we should trade Spikes for, great idea". So you click the link and I'm expecting a 2nd tier RB or something, but when I open it I see the name Lance Briggs. Gotta love it.
Our Bills forum is loaded with teenagers. Dont go there
It's not just the Bills fans, after Schaub signed in Houston, I went over the the Houston forums and they were convinced that the Raiders would give up their 2nd round pick for Carr, It is fun to read any homers opinion on their own team, pure entertainment.
There is a Webzone 49er forum that is worse. Much, much, much worse.

Eagles forum isn't much better. Must do a lot of sifting for useful threads.
