Yep. I heard the Jets GM talking about Ainge during the pre-season game this week, and the Jets are VERY high on Ainge. And who backs up Favre? Ainge?Interesting Rumor though
Brett Ratliff (sp?) has played very well in pre-season. Ratliff is one of the players that i was hoping would be wavied.Edit to add that Booty and Bollinger did not play well in preseason. And who backs up Favre? Ainge?Interesting Rumor though
My thoughts exactly. This won't be happening. And I hope I'm not proven wrong about this. You would think they could do better than Clemons.
For a team with big questions at QB, and potentially the best RB in the NFL:Young QB with NFL experience and potential for aging (30ish) RB who might get 8-10 touches a game. Not sure that is such a bad deal. The Jets were awful last year when Clemons got his shot - but they have always been very high on his abilities. He could be an upgrade to TJ - who also may have knee issues that could linger. I dont think this sounds like such a bad deal personally. But, if ADP misses time, I will take my crow medium well.My thoughts exactly. This won't be happening. And I hope I'm not proven wrong about this. You would think they could do better than Clemons.
Mabye it's because they have Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. Why would the Jets want Chester Taylor? The Have Thomas Jones and Leon Wahington plus they just let Chatman go because presumably because they have a solid #3
Chester would be an upgrade over both those guys.Mabye it's because they have Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. Why would the Jets want Chester Taylor? The Have Thomas Jones and Leon Wahington plus they just let Chatman go because presumably because they have a solid #3
Jesse Chatman? Ced Benson? Shaun Alexander? Rudi? There are capale guys out there.Who would be backing up ADP? Maurice Hicks? With ADP's injury history? Not really sure I'm buying this, particularly with the Vikings already getting Frerotte in the offseason specifically to be the backup.
Furthermore, not really sure that the Jets would already be giving up on Clemons as the future replacement to Favre.
They figure that's what they'd be looking at until August, when Favre unretires again.Favre just seems like a one year guy. Why trade Clemons unless he just isn't that good? Do the Jets really want to be looking at 09 with Ratliff and Ainge running the show?
I think Ryan Grant was traded in September last year.Neither player would likely make any kind of mark in week 1. Maybe week 2 or 3 though.Isn't this a bit late for a trade like this?
probably not, but Ratliff has certainly looked better than Clemens during the preseason.Favre just seems like a one year guy. Why trade Clemons unless he just isn't that good?

Thomas Jones has been and always will be, the running back being replaced somewhere.they can't just stick thomas jones on the bench, can they? guy needs a shot in real games to prove whether he has lost a step or he can go for another 1000 yards. seems like it would be a bad message to do that to jones. leon washington would prob be the big loser, which is too bad since he seems like a good fit with favre, as you mentioned.
Orton, Croyle, Rodgers, O'Sullivan, Young, Edwards, Leinart, Russell, Boller/Smith/Flacco...those are just the starters I can think of off the top of my head...This would be a great move for all involved. Taylor is better than Thomas Jones. Taylor and Washington fit nicely with Favre.
Clemons is an upgrade over Jackson...but then who isn't?
Oh yeah, Ratliff is better than Clemens and better than you think.
Trade Taylor and Booty to Arizona for Leinart and Hightower. lolpsif this trade goes through I smell another pms-a-gram from culpepper."dear national football league, ok, now this really hurts --- I have feelings, too, you know!!"Why would the Jets want Chester Taylor? I don't think he is an upgrade at all. If this happens it will only be because of Jackson's injury. This would be a great move for all involved. Taylor is better than Thomas Jones. Taylor and Washington fit nicely with Favre.

So I assume the Jets think Clemons isn't much better (if at all) than the other two and they want to gage trade value before the cuts? The Jets pushed back their "final cuts" presser from 1pm to 6pm, and area pundits suspect it's because a trade is in the works. The Jets now have only two RB's, aside from FB's.... and one too many QB prospects. This might have legs....
I don't know about that...if he can't get it done throwing to one of the best WR duos of our time, I seriously doubt he could get it done with the options in the Vikes passing gameLeinart isn't the starter in Arizona, but he would be in MN.Orton, Croyle, Rodgers, O'Sullivan, Young, Edwards, Leinart, Russell, Boller/Smith/Flacco...those are just the starters I can think of off the top of my head...This would be a great move for all involved. he'd be running behind richardson again, though. seems odd to me, but tannenbaum did say something about needing to get creative (paraphrasing here)when asked about keeping four quarterbacks.I don't believe it. Taylor is almost 29 years old, and he won't be running behind that Minny o-line. There would have to me more in it to sweeten the deal, if Minny wants a QB.
It's CLEMENS btw.... frankly, I think the Jets do indeed have Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge very evenly ranked as prospects. We'll know more after the cuts presser at 6pmSo I assume the Jets think Clemons isn't much better (if at all) than the other two and they want to gage trade value before the cuts? The Jets pushed back their "final cuts" presser from 1pm to 6pm, and area pundits suspect it's because a trade is in the works. I disagree, it makes a lot of sense. Both teams are highly motivated to win this year... Jets have quite likely a 1 year shot with Favre and an upgrade at RB would help a lot.Vikes are picked by many for the SB... and now have an injured QB, who was very inexperienced to begin with. This is an interesting rumor.I'm calling this rumor bunk....it doesn't make sense for either team.

I can never remember "e" or "o". I blame Clarence![it's CLEMENS btw.... frankly, I think the Jets do indeed have Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge very evenly ranked as prospects. We'll know more after the cuts presser at 6pmmy bad. Thats what I though, but was just rolling with the Title.
I hope the Jets are looking to bring in Benson to fill that backup role. He does make T.Jones play better![]()
