Running Backs and Vertical Leap (1 Viewer)

According to reports Maroney did 35.5 Vertical and 10' 3" on the broad. Puts him in nice company.

One of these days I'm going to gather all the data I can like this going as far back as I can and put it somewhere on the web.

I thought this was an insightful article by Pat Kirwan from last year on basically the same subject

http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/8322692

there's also this one on concerning speed

Some pretty good analysis by a guy who used to do this for a living.

When you combine the two some guys really jump out at you.
Nice finds.I found an article last year that referred to the DBs and talked about COD.

In that article, the focus was on whether the player was "stiff" or "fluid" . Same idea. Bigger deltas mean better change of direction and fluid hips.

In that case, the author quoted a delta of 0.4 as being "fluid." but in that case we're talking about the athletes with the "better" 40-times. It's very hard for a guy with a 4.32 to post a 3.92 SS time. But if you can find a 4.45 guy who can get under 4 seconds in the SS, you've got a good athlete.
