10/09 10:00 Dolphins: Quarterback controversy brewing The NewsThe announcement wasn't made officially until Sunday, but it appears Daunte Culpepper and Nick Saban were at odds most of last week, that Joey Harrington was pronounced the starter on Saturday, and that Culpepper's shoulder injury was not the sole reason he sat out. Saban told the media Sunday that he's concerned that Culpepper's lack of mobility is putting him at risk of being severely injured, and that he won't play Daunte until the quarterback's mobility improves. "Don't ask me when that's going to be because I don't know," Saban told the Miami Herald. "So if you ask me and I get [peeved], you got it coming." Our ViewThe Dolphins went to a different style of offense featuring more short drops with quick reads and throws to help Harrington avoid pressure on Sunday, and it worked – to a certain extent. Harrington was only sacked once, but he also threw two back-breaking interceptions. Culpepper's shoulder injury – he hurt his right arm back in week two – contributed to his benching in week five, but only in that the coaching staff feared he could hurt the arm even worse because he still can't move very well as a result of his knee surgery a year ago. We'll keep you posted on this situation as we hear more, but at this point neither quarterback should be in your fantasy plans.

I wonder how badly Miami wishes they had that pick back, Culpepper was someone else's headache, and they had pushed Brees through his physical.

It is a definite thought around here. However, Hindsight is 20/20If you relly want to go back, Wanny had the option of taking Brees when he came out, but took a crappy CB instead. he said later that he didn't take brees b/c he didn't want to fuel a QB issue with Fiedler.GO figure.

They have just started the season with Harrington holding down the fort until C-Pep was 100%. Whether it's 4 weeks or 6 weeks or most of the year. They had to know that he was recovering from a devastating injury -- 3 knee ligaments? He rushed himself back and wasn't/isn't ready. He doesn't look like he uses his legs enough, etc. Bench him for a couple/few weeks to let him continue to get healthy. Unfortunately, they already screwed themselves by thinking he'd be good to go week -- and in turn it made C-Pep and the Dolphins look bad.

Got to give Jason Whitlock his credit. He was roasted by a lot of people for saying in a column before the season started Culpepper would be benched for Harrington.

Harrington looked better than I expected, all things considered. I think they're an improved team with him at the helm. This also seems to be good news for McMichael and Welker; I'd bump both of them up. I think this is also positive news for Ronnie Brown in no PPR leagues; while he didn't have a good game today, the Patriots were able to take some liberties by playing with a lead and against a QB in his first start. In the long run, I'd expect Brown to have a little more room and some better opportunities.

Here is what I have a problem with, they let the guy who is coming off a iinjury get battered then THEN they go to shorter quicker offense for Harrington???Stupid

Fine, then why did they set him up to fail? If Culpepper wasn't ready then they should have started Harrington at the beginning of the season.

C-Pep also can't make reads quick enough to run a short drop offense, unless it is one read and dump off to the RB.
