Saints WILL take Bush (1 Viewer)

The Saints should still take da brick to protect da investment.
Jamaal Brown is going to move to LT and they can get a great RT in the 2nd.
I like this line of thinking a lot ... and would be :headbang: if Sand's scenario happened. The OT I'd be targeting after the first round is hometown boy Andrew Whitworth from LSU ... dude will be a stud NFL RT for someone. I think Jamaal can handle LT.

For what its worth the JEts boards are reporting serious negotiations between NO and JEts:

JEts offered #4 and #29 -

NO wants them to throw in #71 (3rd rder) - JEts hedging
LMAO @ Aints if they pass on that deal.

Why? 4 and 29 aren't enough for the 2. Do the Jets want Bush or not?

NO will not take Bush.
Then who?
You know what guys, Tenessee needs a RB even more then the Jets .The Titans will move up 1 for Bush , they dont need a Qb they select Bush they have Volek for this year .

They are a much better tema with Bush and Volek then with Mcnair and Brown.

They are probably thinking that drafting Bush would be nice, but if they stay put they get one of: Bush, Leinart/Young, Ferguson. , and can still get a damn good Rb at the end of the first. Staying put seems like the better move. NO is on the hot seat b/c Bush isn't really a need for them- just like Houst. Just sack up and draft DBrick and let Bush lose a few more million $$.

Yes ... but D'Brick plus another draft pick is better than D'Brick alone....

I wonder if the Colts can put together enough ammo to move up to #2. Probably highly unlikely ... the virtually untradeable Freeney would be their biggest carrot after the untradeable Manning.

Due to Katrina, the Saints are in a difficult position. They need to re-energize their fan base and sell tickets. Ferguson doesn't sell tickets. AJ Hawk doesn't sell tickets. Reggie Bush makes people sign up for season tickets.

The best football move is to trade down for multiple picks, which I think they will ultimately do. If they can trade down twice (like a previous poster said), that would be great...and line them up to get one of the secondary RB's later in the draft (Lendale White?) as well as a top flight player like Ferguson at #7.

Gonna be an interesting draft for sure.

Agree 100%, but I wouldn't push it too much with the Jets. NY probably realizes that they have a chance to land Bush by standing pat too.

No way ... I think Bush is higher on the Titans draft board than any of the QBs. That's what people are forgetting ... the Jets have to get ahead of Tennessee for either:a) Reggie Bush

b) their pick of QB

c) D'Brick

The thing is ... at #4, who they draft is dictated to them.

I just want to add...

Something everyone seems to be losing sight of is just how good Reggie Bush is.

Think of it this way. If LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers was somehow available for this draft, do you think the Saints would take him at #2? I do. Bush is more Gayle Sayers than Tomlinson, but you get the idea. Bush is a superstar in the making, and the Saints better think twice about just giving him away. They better really pick well with the other picks if they make a deal, or they'll never live this one down.

I guess I am saying that the Jets might be happy with whomever lands in their lap. ANY of those 4 players would improve the team a bit, so is it really worth the price the trade up would cost?

I have a bad feeling about Bush ... can't put my finger on it. Seems that he might have character issues popping out of nowhere down the road ... especially after the inevitable holdout into October.I don't view Bush as 100% can't-miss. Can't bring myself around to that.

Yeah, but a good way to hurt your team is to have about $80-$90M tied up in your backfield. Would be different if Duece could be moved today.People keep bringing up exciting the fan base. Is that going to happen by taking somebody that's already pulling an Eli? I could see a loooooong holdout for Bush if the Saints take him and can't trade him right away too.

Not just long, but nasty. Deuce held out through mid-August, but then kept his head down and let Ricky Williams take all the bad press and fan flack. By 2002, Saints fans were ready for a hero to get them over the Ricky Williams mistake. With Bush, it would be different. His holdout would put him in stark contrast with good-guy Deuce, and Reggie would soon be a pariah among the fans (and I think he'd react negatively in return, and start with the character issues that are so well-hidden right now). Woe be unto him should he report in early October, then get hurt early. His whole stay in N.O. would be miserable.

ZERO CHANCE NO takes Brick at #2

The Jets already offered #4 and #29

If they want brick they would accept that trade and take Brick at #4
Ding!Ding! We have a winner! :goodposting:

If NO takes Bush instead of trading for #4 and #29 (if it's true) they should burn down what's left of the town.
That's uncalled for
I didn't quite mean it that way.I just meant it in a "get the torches and pitchforks, there's gonna be a rebellion" sort of way.

Sorry for any offense.

Well, Andy was a prisoner, has the mind of a criminal.

investing that much $ at the RB spot is a great recipe for future team success :sarcasm:
Sure. And Indy's really crying over taking Edge in the top-5. So is San Diego. Caddy has totally ruined TB. Marshall Faulk was horrible for the Rams, and Eddie George did nothing for the Titans. Stephen Davis was a terrible signing for Carolina, and the Redskins are really struggling with Clinton Portis in the picture. None of the Ravens' success owes to Jamal Lewis. There's more than one way to win in the NFL.
none had another starter fresh off a mint 50mill deal for 6 or 7 years.read between the lines
