Day I of mini-camp2

Well it's been a long time since I've written anything on this blog. It's not really for lack of desire but more a lack of knowing how my own website works. I had to call my high school coach to figure out how this website forum operates.

I just purchased one of the Apple MacBook Pro's about two weeks ago and I'm still figuring out how to use it. See a picture of it - here . I love it though and, it is true what they say - "Once you go Mac, you never go back."

Today was the first day of the second mini-camp. It went well, but i felt like it wasn't as good as the first day of the first mini-camp. It wasn't as intense as the first. I would say it was because we made a lot of errors this minicamp (beginning with me), but I think we made just as many errors last minicamp but our intensity made up for it.

I haven't been doing as well as I would have liked. I thought I would get this system much easier than I am now since I did run a very similiar offense in college, but it's not translating as well as I would've like. I should have expected it to be a little different since I'm running it against the cream of the crop, but I still would have expected a little more out of myself.

I can understand the frustrations from the new coaching staff and even Coach Bennett. I think Coach Bennett's frustrations are more that he's seen me play better and expects me to play at that level. He pulled me aside today and was encouraging me to keep pushing.

I don't think it's so much that I'm not improving but I believe that I haven't crossed that learning curve yet. I am having some trouble picking up the reads but I think it's only a matter of time before I do get the hang of it, and hopefully that will translate into better performance. We'll have to wait and see tomorrow.

Day II of Mini-camp
Well today wasn't as great a day as I would have hoped for. Once again it wasn't so much about mistakes but missed reads. I came in early today and watched film of yesterday's practice before anyone came in, hoping to get a better grasp of how these plays are to be run. I thought I had it but we had another day of installation so the plays that I spent looking over we didn't even run today. Oh well, you live and you learn.

The first practice of the day seemed very similiar to yesterday's. A lot of mistakes and moderate intensity, but thankfully the second practice picked up considerably. We seemed to be hitting on more cylinders than before. Aaron Rodgers especially looked good to me. It's been amazing to see him develop. I don't think people really understand how good he can be.

Tomorrow is the last day of minicamp and I think many of us are already for it to be done with. We were sitting around the lunch table today asking ourselves how in the world we make it through six weeks of training camp but have a hard time making it through a three day minicamp, with no contact.

Ahman came today, and though he didn't practice, it was still good to see him there. William Henderson showed up as well and it's always good to have him up front. It made me feel a little better about my misreads because even a vet like Henderson is still working out the kinks of this new offense.

I'm going home (to South Carolina) tomorrow and can't wait. I'm sure my trainer back home has conjured up some interesting stuff for us to do already. He has a knack for coming up with the craziest, intense workouts. I'll have to tell hiim to give me a couple of days off, because though we haven't had any contact, my body is hurting.

Seems pretty high on Aaron Rogers and seems like he's not content with his own play so far.. Lets hope he keeps working hard, good to hear that the offense is similar to his college offense (although I can't imagine Liberty University's offense can be all that similar to the Packers)not so happy to hear that after 2 days of non-contact the little pudge-ball is already beat.. but I'm sure that come training camp he'll be ready to go

pretty interesting forum, hope he keeps it up

We just finished our second week of installation and things seem to picking up. While we looked pretty sloppy at first, I see us picking up the intensity and cleaning up our play on the offensive side of the ball. I personally thought this week was our best week of practice. As far as I'm concerned it's been an up and down OTA's. Some good days and then some where I wish I could have done better. I'm beginning to realize that this frustration with wanting to pick up this system quickly is the norm. Last year was an incredible year because it wasn't ordinary. As Coach Sherman told me, the honeymoon is over, and this is what the normal rookie experience is. I guess it decided to hit me up a year after I'd been in the league. Today was the first day of OTA's and once again it was back to work. We had last week off, and I think it was much needed. We'd been going for 10 weeks straight without a break. We practiced outside and that's a definite plus. It provided a nice change of scenery. Since I came we've been practicing indoors.

Today was definitely a day we had to dust off some rust from the week off. I see us getting better but I think the signs of learning this new system are showing. More with me than with anyone else. I think today was a positive day for me. I would say I needed that because I didn't do as well as I would have liked last minicamp. I came up two days early to have time to myself to look at film and prepare myself for the upcoming OTA's. I kept having issues with my reads in this new running scheme and after watching film of all my reps during the first two minicamps, I came away with the conclusion that I needed to deepen up and slow down before the qb hands the ball of to get that read.

It's natural instinct to go full speed when the ball is snapped but in cases like mine it's not the best thing. I also found myself lining up too close to the line of scrimmage at 6 1/2 -7yds instead of the required 7 1/2. These two factors were causing me to not get clear reads which ended up making me guess. Deepening up and slowing down helped today. I'm not there yet but, now I have a road map. I thought I did much better today. As these reads become more natural then will it be safe to go full speed before I get the ball.

Another thing I came away with is I need to lose about 5lbs. I bulked up to 230 during the off season thinking it would help but it's taking it's toll. I've been 230 before going into training camp and the natural schedule of training camp causes me to lose up to 10lbs, but right now, I think this weight is slowing me down. I don't feel as explosive as I use to, and I find myself getting winded quicker. I think I'm going to try to get down to 225 during this month and see how my body responds to it.

honesty is hard to find in todays world, so is humilty and reality

this guy is all that, give him his props for being open, honest and true to how his workouts are going if nothing else

hope he keeps it up during training camp and the season.. would make for an interesting read to see how a young RB handles his 2nd year in the league (and his first year as a guy that people are paying attention to)

I'd like to see some responses from some reporters who saw him during the camps. Gado is his own worst critic, and I think he may be doing a bit better than he lets on, but that's only speculation.

I had the privilege of being asked to the Rookie Symposium as a veteran guest. I was asked to speak on life as a rookie. Braylan Edwards, Shawn Merriman, Lofa Totupu were some of the rookies on the panel that discussed the joys and perils of life in the first year of the League. It was truly honoring because I didn't even go to the symposium last year. Being on stage with all those guys who were in the first round and went to the Super Bowl, opened my eyes to how far God had really brought me. I got to spend some time with an old friend of mine while it was there. I don't think I'd ever gotten first class treatment like I got the whole week. After that was done, I drove up to L.A. with my agent to the NFL Network studios to tape a show with William Henderson. It was really cool to be on a set like that. I felt so uncomfortable and nervous knowing so many people were going to be seeing it. It will be airing this Monday. It should be interesting to see whether I made a fool out of myself or not. I've got my fingers crossed. Samkon

As you already have heard, we are sure, Samkon was traded in a 1 for 1 deal to the Houston

Texans.

Coach Kubiak has already been impressed with Samkon and he will definitely be playing some on

Sunday!!!

We have just finished reskinning the website, and we created a new "Texans" logo for, as Coach

Sherman called him, "Sammy the Bull."

Thanks,

and GO TEXANS!!!

Sleeping with da stinkin' fishes?I don't stink so.

What's he gotta do? Beat out lard butt & some rookie flake named Wali freakin' Lundy? Consider it a done deal.

Now we know why Kubiak passed on Bush.

He knew he was gonna get "Sammy the Bull". :excited:

Sorry to inform you all, but the SamkonGado.com message boards have been spammed by all sorts of

internet scammers.

So we have taken the boards down.

They should be back up and active by the start of training camp.

You may need to sign back in and re-register at that time.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause
