Sammy Morris & Tony Hunt - RB Flyers (1 Viewer)

Drafted both Sammy Morris (NE) and Tony Hunt (PHI) very late in my draft on Monday.

Have a feeling one of these guys pans out either due to injury to Maroney or Westbrook, or just by getting goalline carries.

My concern is that it might not make sense to roster both these guys all season. I think I need to choose one and drop the other.

Curious if people think they're both worth holding onto. If not, which has bigger upside and better prospects?

The good news is a) they come super cheap and b) their team's leading rushers have a higher-than-normal perceived injury risk. Westbrook misses at least a game a season, if not more (I live it each and every week as an Eagles fan) while Maroney's shoulder is a huge question mark. Presuming things go as the team's planned, I don't think either Hunt or Morris do much to help you win a weekly matchup unless you're in 14- or 16-team leagues. But, since injuries are a reality, I could see them both having value as a fill in.

Working against you, though, are situational concerns. Hunt MAY get the short yardage role in Philly but a) Reid loves to throw, b) Reid loves to throw in the red zone, c) Correll Buckhalter is ahead of Hunt on the depth chart for now. As to Morris, the Patriots have such a diverse set of weapons; it's hard to know what "role" Morris will play with Kevin Faulk definitely getting a ton of catches on 3rd down and Heath Evans seemingly capable of everything Morris is + blocking.

Dillon is retired. For good. According to him.The reason I went out and grabbed Morris, in addition to just the general injury concerns with Maroney, is that I read/heard I think it was John Clayton talking about how aggressively the Pats went after Morris right when the Free Agency period began. The contacted his agent minutes after the period began, and then fended off several teams that were after Morris.That tells me that the Pats have definite plans for Morris - even if initially in the backup, short yardage role. I think they went after him knowing that Dillon was done and Morris would be that type of player for them if needed.
