Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams (1 Viewer)

Honestly nobody should argue otherwise. Year 3 was not good but largely (entirely?) Due to injuries.

But why are they perceived so differently by their original team? There's literally no chance the falcons would have traded Julio for a 2nd after year 3.
Could it partially be because Atlanta traded 5 picks to move up and get Julio, so management couldn't really back out of the commitment to him?

There's also no chance Buffalo's old regime would have traded Watkins for that price for this exact same reason.  But the dynamic of a new management team exists here.

Probably has more to do with the fact that Julio played a full 16 game season his 2nd year and made the Pro Bowl. And was on pace for a 1800 yard season before breaking his foot late in game 5 of his 3rd year and landing on IR. Watkins still has a lot of potential but comparing him to Julio is a bit of reach.

That there's still enough of a concern about future injury to his foot that they need to make a new shoe to protect it? That doesn't seem like a good thing to me at all.
Wait the news that he had foot injuries in the past is something you're just learning about now?

Seems to me that these special shoes aren't intended to prevent past injuries.

If you can't see why this should be a concern about his future health, I don't know what to tell you.

I think it's been well known the issues he's had/has. This is meant to help. That seems like a good thing.

I agree I dropped Tom Brady in 2009 when I saw him wearing a knee brace.  Can't have guys that need preventative measures!  I haven't regretted it one bit.

I guess we're down to the point of protective measures clearly reflecting bad signs.

Turning back to Sammy's situation, it sure doesn't look like Tyrod Taylor would be doing Sammy any favors this year. It remains to be seen whether Goff takes the next step, but it just may be a better scenario for Watkins after all with the Rams.
