BUMPIs there a good app for group texting yet?
Care to expand on this? Also, anyone can chime in on this...why should I buy this S III rather than the S II Skyrocket for a much lower price? ($199 vs $99 or $49 for refurb)I am loving this phone!!!
S3 is a bigger faster S2 and comes with ICS. If you can live with Gingerbread (or custom ROMs) over ICS then I think the S2 would suit anyone fine.Care to expand on this? Also, anyone can chime in on this...why should I buy this S III rather than the S II Skyrocket for a much lower price? I believe it recently came out and it depends on your carrier. Best to check out a retail store if you can.Can you upgrade the S2 to ICS?
I was told last night that ICS should be pushed to my SII in the next day or two. I'm on Sprint. Is anyone else a little upset that the SIII comes out less than a year after the SII? Closer to 9 months, I think.'Polish Hammer said:Can you upgrade the S2 to ICS?

I've been looking and haven't found any for AT&T yet. I'm NOT pulling the trigger as long as it's $199. When it drops to $99 I'll do it. Believe me, I really want the SIII and have had to resist the urge to say "screw it" and pay full price. What's the likely ETA on deals for this phone, from those of you who tend to follow this kind of thing?

Verizon. And I just saw Amazon added it for them. $150. I'll likely go that route, though I may hit one of the Verizon stores and see if they can match it. I want someone who knows what they're doing to intro me to the cool stuff I'm likely to be too lazy to find on my own. And if it's not someone in one of their stores, I'm going to come in here and bug the hell out of you people.I've been looking and haven't found any for AT&T yet. Full price is $600 I believe, so they're all somewhat of a discount.Rumor has it that US Cellular will have it for $100 ($300 with $100 rebate and $100 bill credit) later in July.I got a text from at&t about a week ago with a URL for upgrading to ICS. I haven't done it yet, I wanna read some reviews and see how buggy it is first.I was told last night that ICS should be pushed to my SII in the next day or two. Why I love the S III ~ By DexterNote: I am coming from a droid X. My phone prior to that was a BB tour.First off when you turn it on the for the first time the screen looks amazing. The color is bright and the apps are crisp and clear.Cycling between apps and different screens is flawless. Like cutting butter with a hot knife.4G (Verizon) As fast and in a lot of cases faster than wifi. browsing the web with blazing fast speed and the beautiful big screen is a pleasure instead of a chore. There are times where I would say screw this and go to my computer but now unless I'm doing a lot of typing I'll just use my phone.Other thoughtsS Voice - Meh, I never understood siri it's just not a option that I will use.Design of the phone - I don't like the nature theme. But the great thing about android is I can customize it anyway I want.Battery life - Is okay and is expected for the features I have active and the battery size in the phone. If you're going to listen to the Slacker Radio or Pandora you're going to need a charger.IMHO it's the best phone on the market.Care to expand on this? Also, anyone can chime in on this...why should I buy this S III rather than the S II Skyrocket for a much lower price? Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Luckily I can connect to our WiFi at work so 4G doesn't drain my battery. That's the real battery killer. I was on my phone almost constantly this afternoon and got home with about 40%. I still have nearly 30% 18 hours after charging.US Cellular 4G is underrated. I imagine it competes with Verizon, with much less market share obviously. I got 20MB down and 9MB up on a few speed tests on Thursday. Ringtones and notifications suck balls. I agree the nature theme went a bit too far. It's like a freaking jungle but that's easy to fix.I never had work email on my phone but I did put it on this one. The stock app seems limited. Any suggestions?I keep finding little things to make the phone even better. Not sure if this is common knowledge but it helped me...if you want to change the apps on the lock screen go to Settings > Security > Lock screen options > Shortcuts and you can change the apps on the lock screen. All you need to do is swipe the lock screen app up and it automatically opens. I've always just turned off the stock email client and just use the GMail app (not the website interface.) I find it works quite well, and I prefer it to both the Samsung app on my Captivate 1 and the HTC app on my One X.Pretty much sums up my thoughts. There is some lag on the home button, the biggest deal ever. The home button lag worried me a bit when I checked one out at the store. Im not a fan of it, I much prefer the capacitive ones on my S2. Gonna revisit it in person and decide at that time if Im gonna upgrade.
Have had my EVO for 2 years...never cussed it yet.Wife's has a 4s....I would not trade her straight up....ever.Lag on a new android device. Nothing new here. It only gets worse. Two years ( if you make it ) you will be cursing your phone everyday.

I've had my S2 since November, its never had lag of any kind and I've never cursed it, its a fantastic phone. I make sweet love to it daily.Lag on a new android device. Nothing new here. It only gets worse. Two years ( if you make it ) you will be cursing your phone everyday.

I switched from evo.No comparison. Also.. Sprint doesnt even have LTE in most markets. I was able to switch ATT which was an extra bonus.Have an EVO with an extended life battery (awesome by the way). I'm eligible to upgrade. Convince me to make the move from the EVO which I'm pretty happy with to either this phone or the new EVO LTE or iPhone on Sprint.
Name of said app?s-voice just a siri like app? There is an assistant app in google play that I have used and it works quite well.Pretty much tested it doing things with it and my wife's siri and it held up well to it.

Droid X owner and just ordered the SG3. While looking for online tutorials and reviews, found this video. It is very in depth and the reviewer has a non US accent but it covers every facet of the phone. I found it very helpfull and will be re-visiting it often when the phone arrives.
Thx.-QGMaybe give Juice Defender a try. Also, try to limit the use of widgets - they are battery intensive. Touchwiz usually has quite a few on the stock launcher I believe, so remove the one's she doesn't use often. My wife says her battery is going down quicker than she expected. Any general Android tips to help preserve the life? Any apps that help with it?I've already told her to drop screen brightness to the lowest tolerable level, and turn off WiFi and Network Data when she isn't using them. Anything else?
I keep gps/wifi off unless I am using them. I also reduce my brightness and find that those things greatly extended the battery life in my Droid X. Still waiting to get my SG3 so no experience with it yetMy wife says her battery is going down quicker than she expected. Any general Android tips to help preserve the life? Not one, of course this has more to do with your carrier than your phone id think.Anyone having issues with dropped calls on the SIII?I'm in the Milwaukee area. Literally, 5-6 dropped calls in about a 30 minute span yesterday. I was not in a building, but in my car, on the interstate. Then again this morning, 2 dropped calls in my car on the way to work.

I grew up and went to HS in Oak Creek. My parents still live by St. Matts on Hwy 32. I'm in Bay View now and haven't had any issues so far with dropped calls on US Cellular. When you drop a call go to Settings > About device > Status and check the signal strength. -70dBm or better is great but anything below -110dBm to -120dBm is getting into dropped call territory. If it's low, then it's probably a carrier/tower issue. As for battery life, I went from 9am Sunday to 5pm Monday on a single charge. I would advise to turn ON WiFi whenever possible. 4G is the battery killer, especially if you aren't in a 4G area. Also, cycle the battery a few times until it is completely dead before chargingI've got the S3 for personal use and the iPhone 4S for work. Hands down, the S3. Even with the dropped call issues I've had so far. US Cell for the S3 and AT&T for the iPhone. Dropped calls on the iPhone are the norm. Never, ever had a problem on US Cell regardless of phone, so I'm confident I'll get this sorted out. But the S3 is better in every other facet. Screen size/clarity. Android = customize. Camera on the S3 is amazing fast. I didn't even realize I was taking pictures that fast until I checked the gallery to see that it was taking that many pictures. Plus 4G which Apple doesn't have yet.Is this thing better than the 4s? I see lots of people in the thread liking it but is this when compared to older droid models? I have an iphone 4 and need to buy a new phone.
