I got mine for sprint. Here are a few thoughts:
- the 720p screen is simply beautiful. I know they had to scale back on the processor to get on chip LTE, but it still seems to run graphically intensive apps well.
- battery life is easily lasting all day under moderate use.
- s voice ####### SUCKS, can't pick up what I'm saying very well. I can't call my contact "Erik" because it doesn't match..... "Eric"
- I don't have LTE on sprint so I went from having WIMAX to 3g which sucks. Hopefully that gets here soon.

As to the lag, I've read on the AC forums that some people have experienced it with different settings, namely the power save mode being active. It could just be how the floor model was set up. Everything else I've read is that it is extremely fluid

Yeah, its not a deal breaker or anything like that, as these phones can be tweaked and fine tuned pretty easily. Until I held yhem side by side, I didnt realize how much bigger the screen is compared to my S2 (4.3" vs 4.8"). Just awesome.Mine is shipping next week. I do have a

Depending on reviews I may switch over from the iPhone. Cked out a buddies yesterday, just a quick look and it seemed pretty awesome. Looking forward to reviews and comments and if anyone has switched from the iPhone.

Got mine delivered this morning. Screen is huge and beautiful, very fluid motion. Because of the bigger screen, the buttons are bigger. Very easy to type in a phone number or hammer out a text.
S-Voice seemed to work okay on a first attempt. It successfully scheduled a meeting this week and gave me the answer to longest river in the world. Other times it wouldn't wake up or obey my commands.
It's nice of Samsung to include headphones (I guess this is rare), but the headphones suck. Very UNcomfortable. I don't know what video formats the phone will accept, it didn't want to play many of my videos I loaded on it.

a Droid X.I'm sure I don't know what I'm doing. I tried to transfer an avi,mp4,vog via USB. Windows 7 wanted to convert the files into something the phone could understand. Another thing -- USB transfer seems extremely slow. Maybe I need a special driver?'Wingnut said:

I would like to hear more about this too. Im not unhappy with the my iphone. In fact I am still using the 3gs. But I have heard very good things about Android and specifically the GalaxyS3.Can someone point me to a forum that might discuss some expereinces of switching over?'Billy Bats said:

I've had 2 iphones and 2 android phones now (Evo, S3)... what do you want to know?There is a little bit of a learning curve - iphones are very simplistic, android phones have more features and ways to personalize them... Widgets for example.The only downfall I have experienced with the android phones is compatibility. Everything has a dock for Iphones/pads, everything recognizes iphones. Not a big deal, but a small nuisance.Otherwise, everything about the S3 is equal to or better than the wife's iphone. Bigger, faster, camera trounces hers, all kinds of small gimmicks that are fun - phone to ear calling of person that texted you, it can tell when you are looking at it and wont turn off, opening directly to phone/email/camera on a swipe, etc, etc.I'm not bashing iphones at all, my family has owned every iteration since the original - but at this point, the features of the android phones have caught and surpassed the iphone. Again the only drawback left to conquer (imho) is compatibility convenience.

Thanks for the post. I've actually read that the S3 camera is the only thing that the 4s has an advantage over.
Curious about the size difference. Is it too big? I'm all for a bigger screen but the S3 almost looks like a mini pad, how is it carrying around in pockets and such? Thanks.I'm going to wait to see how the new iPhone compares with the S3 before switching, but it's looking pretty sweet.

Did you get a shipment notification email with a tracking number? Mine is being delivered today. Can't wait to play with it.
Would appreciate a good root guide for the VZN version if anyone has it. Haven't rooted before so I'm worried I'll do something stupid to brick it. I did jailbreak and iPad which was pretty easy (and mostly pointless).

If im not mistaken the iphone camera and the s3 camera have the same megapixels, im sure the pictures are great from both - but the burst shot, and smile recognition shot are freaking sweet. Burst takes rapid fire shots then recommends the best one, the other feature waits until the target smiles to take the pic (happy mode). I haven't played with the pther features yet.

The forums at xda-devlopers.com and androidcentral.com would probably be a good place to look. It is full of Android fanboys but there's a wealth of information.Keep in mind also, that Verizon locked the bootloader (not the case with ATT, Sprint etc). I too, have never rooted but I believe the latest CM9 ROM is unstable because of this if I'm reading those forums correctly.

I agree xda-developers is a good site with lots of info. The forums do take some time to get used to, however. For anyone who lacks experience with rooting/using CWM/Odin, and is nervous about bricking their phone, I'd highly recommend waiting for someone to make a youtube video on rooting your specific phone before trying it out yourself. Stock Touchwiz seems pretty nice on the S3 and very unconstrained so no need to rush things, imo.

-Wow this thing is light. And slim. The pebble blue looks really sharp, but it is a fingerprint magnet so my case and screen protectors can't get here fast enough.
-The screen is awesome. I haven't noticed any lag in transitions etc.
-4G for US Cell is pretty fast
I haven't had a chance to play much with it so that's all I got right now. Gotta go back to work. Stupid work

This may sound like a stupid question, but I have only owned a Blackberry (from my company). Do the screen protectors actually prevent fingerprints or oils from your face from getting on the screen? If not, why bother with it? I thought that this phone was made with Gorilla Glass 2 so the screen should be safe from bumps and such, right?Is there any reason, other than appearance, that one should care if fingerprints get on the back of the phone?Just got mine activated and first impressions are:

Hmmm... Mine is 4. I have co-worker who has a Note, and people give him #### because it looks like he's walking around with his school notebook in his pocket. Not sure I want to go to 4.8.

I guess it comes down to preference. From what I've read the Gorilla Glass isn't foolproof and can still scratch with normal wear and tear. I tend to be a little rougher on my phone so I like the added protection, if only for piece of mind.The screen protector I got has had rave reviews on some Android forums. It's a SPIGEN SGP Steinheil Nano Clear protector that has an oil-resistant coating, helping with fingerprints and clarity. If it doesn't work, I'm out $13.Screen protectors are useless on these phones. I agree. I tried a few and just never really liked the way it felt looked. What I seemed to notice was you would start to get more "nicks and dings" because it's a "soft" material.So basically things that would not scratch the actual phone would start to show on the cover. I did have an Otter box commuter on my phone. Took it off to clean up the phone, over time dust accumulates. Liked the feel and haven't put it back on yet.I guess it comes down to preference. It is supposed to give the time, weather, and recent news. I can't get it to pull in the weather and the news part sucks. Want a little bit more optionality there.

I'm switching from an iPhone 3gs and had been trying to decide between the S3 and One X, and I just checked out both in the store.
Feature wise the S3 dominates. 16gb max storage with no SD slot on the One X hurts, and the gimped multitasking is probably a dealbreaker (this drove me nuts on the iPhone).
That said, the S3 definitely felt a bit inadequate from a build quality perspective when comparing the two side by side. The screen is noticeably better on the One X and the S3 hardware looks kind of "cheap" next to the One X. That said, I don't think either would bother me if I don't have the One X sitting right next to it. The S3 screen is really nice in its own right.
I wish they'd copied the One X design on a couple fronts. I hate the glossy back to the S3. It's slippery and looks cheesy. Also, has anyone else had problems with the phone getting hot? Just playing with it in the store for 10 minutes made my hand start to get sweaty and uncomfortable from the heat.
Who's idea was it to put that stupid hard home button on there? There's definitely a major lag when pressing it. It takes the phone a good second or two to recognize the click whereas the virtual buttons are instant. Not a huge deal, but I like to snap around my phone pretty quickly and little delays like that annoy me.
All in all, I'm probably going to go ahead and get one as it was pretty awesome in general. I just hate when companies make weird design decisions (like the hard home button) that aren't even about saving money, but rather are just about something making a stupid decision.

I prefer having a home button but I agree there is a lag. From what I understand the lag is because to get into the S-Voice app (Siri clone) you double tap the home button so it waits a bit to see if there's a second tap. It can be disabled within the app and it speeds up a little bit, but it isn't quite as instantaneous as the other buttons.I haven't noticed any heat but I haven't had much of a chance to really play with it for an extended period.
