Osgood is primarily special teams, I guess he could be replaced. I believe Moore was inactive the game Patton was injured, but not sure, so they obviously prefer Baldwin/Patton to Moore. And I honestly don't know anything about Harper, I think he's been inactive the entire time.

Well what would be interesting is if Baldwin becomes more productive than KW over the next few games. I don't think they will let go of KW because Manningham still has to work his way into the offense. They'll probably bump off one of those back shelf players if they wanted to trade for Gordon.

The three felony counts stem from a raucous party at his house near San Jose last year during which he was stabbed and two people were shot, Santa Clara County prosecutors said Wednesday.

Smith, 24, is expected to surrender this month to face the charges filed in county Superior Court. If convicted, he could face a sentence ranging from no time in custody to four years and four months behind bars, authorities said.

The criminal case is the result of an investigation into a party at his rented home east of San Jose on June 29, 2012.

More than 100 people showed up, but Smith decided to end it after someone brandished a gun at a bartender, prosecutors said. Smith told a group of guests to leave - and was closing his garage door - when someone fired three shots that lodged in the back of the garage, investigators said.

Smith went to a bedroom, retrieved a .45-caliber handgun and fired a shot into the air, authorities said. He reopened the garage door, believing it was safe, but people were still congregating outside.

Prosecutors said that as Smith walked out of the garage, someone uttered a "gang slur," prompting Smith to tell the group, "This is my house. I'm Aldon Smith." But the visitors still did not leave, and some told Smith that they didn't care who he was, authorities said.

A partygoer, Steven Barba, 27, then allegedly used a knife to stab Smith twice. Barba has been charged with assault, gun possession and gang enhancements.

Delanie Walker, a former 49ers tight end who was also at the party, then fired the same .45-caliber handgun into the air, authorities said. Another person returned fire, striking two guests, Ronndale Esporlas and Aaron Reyes, who suffered serious injuries and are now suing Smith and Walker, who now plays for the Tennessee Titans.

As this was going on, someone went into Smith's bedroom, removed an assault weapon and "carried it around the party," investigators said.

After the party, sheriff's deputies searched the home and found five weapons, including four rifles, as well as "several additional large-capacity magazines strewn about the floor of Smith's bedroom." There was expended and unexpended ammunition in a bedside table, authorities said.

None of the five weapons was registered with the state Department of Justice, investigators said, and three of the five weapons were determined to be illegal assault weapons under California law.

Investigators determined that Smith had purchased the three weapons in Arizona on two separate occasions in 2011.

He bought two of them from a gun dealer in Phoenix on Dec. 10, 2011, the day before the 49ers played the Arizona Cardinals, investigators said, adding that even if the weapons were purchased in Arizona by an Arizona resident, the weapons are illegal to possess in California.

They make sure aldon gets his head right and hope Gordon is his own person, I guess. Have to buy low when you are picking at the end of drafts and capped out.

Maybe Aldon isn't a good guy after all. Sure he has all the talent at the position (with a lot of help from Justin Smith), but he also seems to have a sense of entitlement that creates a behavior for he to think he is invulnerable. Having parties (where he charges at the door and for drinks) with assault weapons at his house is just plain stupid. Living the thug life with thugs at said parties is just a disaster waiting to happen. If you don't want any trouble in your life, then don't get into trouble. Simple as that.

I think the 49ers can live without his troubles IMO. He isn't a victim of the DA or anything of the sort (referring to a post in the Smith DUI thread). He's a reckless young man who needs a reality check. Like I posted in that thread, if he were a scrub, nobody would care.

According to CSN Bay Area, the 49ers "feel good" about finishing the season with Michael Crabtree (Achilles), Anquan Boldin, and Mario Manningham (knee) as their top three wide receivers.
In other words, if the 49ers have interest in Josh Gordon, they're not showing their cards yet. The NFL trade deadline is October 29. Manningham is returning from a multiple-knee ligament tear, while Crabtree is coming off a ruptured Achilles' tendon. Neither is a safe bet to be 100 percent upon return. The Niners believe Crabtree will be "game-ready" by mid to late November.

I would also imagine that Nicks’s stat sheet would look even better if Eli Manning were playing at his best.

Anybody know what's up with the radio broadcast during game day? I forget which station it's on, but the internet streams during the first half were so bad that I tried to tune in via the web on KNBR. The new home of the 49ers is coming with a cost that can’t be accounted for.

According to NBCBayArea.com, a steelworker died when steel rebar fell on him at the stadium construction site.

He’s the second worker to die on the site, as another man was killed when an elevator counterweight fell on him in June, stopping construction for two days. There were no fines or citations from the previous incident.

According to Peter Melton, spokesman for Cal-OSHA, a subcontractor worked for Gerdau Ameristeel, and the accident was reported at 6:45 a.m. (Pacific).

Our thoughts are with the family of the victim, and the people who have to go back to work there in the future, knowing the site has already claimed two lives.

This along with the death of a game attendee at the Stick just recently is pretty crazy.

They don't have the cap flexibility to sign Nicks to half of what he'll be looking for with extensions to Iupati, Kaepernick, Crabtree, and A. Smith coming up (value of the last two has probably taken quite a hit, though).

Crab back at practice, Manningham and Eric Wright activated, Asomugha released.

Michael Crabtree made an encouraging return to the 49ers practice field Tuesday, catching passes alongside teammates for the first time since an Achilles tear May 21.

“It was cool, man,” Crabtree said afterward in the locker room.

Wearing red gloves along with a long-sleeved red shirt under his red No. 15 jersey, more pertinent was the high-top cleat Crabtree wore. But he didn’t pick that model to help support his repaired left Achilles, stating he simply likes to “change it up” between a low- or high-top style.

Aside from those brief comments, Crabtree is expected to fully address the media on Wednesday.

Crabtree’s return started a three-week clock for the 49ers to evaluate him before he must come off the physically-unable-to-perform list.

If the 49ers wait that whole window before activating him, he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers and back-to-back road games at New Orleans and Washington. After that comes home games against division rivals St. Louis (Dec. 1) and Seattle (Dec. 8).

The 49ers today added Mario Manningham and Eric Wright to their 53-man roster, moves that theoretically will boost what has been a limited wide receiving corps and give the team a glimpse at a possible cornerback for the future. Needing a roster spot, the team cut ties with veteran Nnamdi Asomugha, who had been a healthy scratch for the last three games.

Manningham began the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list and began practicing with the 49ers three weeks ago. He looked sharp and quick during the team's recent practice sessions outside of London.

It's unlikely that he'll jump into a true No. 2 role opposite Anquan Boldin right away. Still, Manningham was the second-most effective 49ers wide receiver behind Michael Crabtree last year, finishing with 42 catches for 449 yards and a touchdown.

San Francisco's passing attack currently ranks 32nd in the NFL. Boldin leads the 49ers with 38 catches for 551 yards and two touchdowns. The other wide receivers on the roster have 15 catches for 142 yards and no touchdowns combined.

In other news, Jeremy Newberry probably just had his last interview on KNBR / Vince Brooks show. They called him on the show to get his take on the Jonathan Martin / Richie Incognito thing.

Although he said that racial slurs have no place in the NFL, he put a fair amount of blame on Martin. Basically told him that he needed to man up and punch Incognito in the mouth.

The loss of Vernon was pretty crushing, but honestly IDK if it would've made a difference. The offense just didn't look anything close to Super Bowl caliber. I really hope Crabtree is back by week 13-14 so they get a little time to run the entire offense before the playoffs.

Kaep was 11/22 for 91 and an INT - 4 rushes for 16.

Gore had a solid stat line of 16/82, over 5 a carry. Outside of Hunter's fumble, it wasn't a bad day on the ground, I feel like they kinda just got away from it.

Until Crabtree is back, Kaep needs better rushing numbers then 4/16.

Sucks that its starting to look like we'll finish 11-5/12-4 and land in a wildcard spot! At least we'll get the Eagle/Cowboys in the WC round. This game in NO next week could be a preview of the divisional round.

I do it as a sort of PSA for the curious who might want to check that site out. They had a David Carr bandwagon thread that went over 100 pages. You ever see those old homeless people feeding the pigeons at Civic Center and Market in SF? Those pigeons are the Webzone denizens. Or even more like it, the WZ are like crack dealers in the TL handing off dime shots on check day.

Worst example of a fanbase ever. Unfortunately, most other 49er fansites are similar. Which is why I hang here.

Newton fared slightly better but not much. I haven't watched the game yet - which is a good thing - but looking at the stats lines, one thing that still rings true is that Kendall "Minus Yardage" Hunter is no answer to spell Gore (FBG favorite Josh Meyer thinks he is, so good thing he bailed), and they haven't done anything with James either. Combine that with a weak receiving corp outside of Davis - face it, Boldin may have spurts of offense, but he is not opening things up for them either, so I think it's time they stop trying out old WR's on their last legs - and then try to put it all on Kaep, who unfortunately isn't able to transcend the team's weaknesses on offense (which the roster is even worse than the last two seasons due to injuries, and WR's like Williams who will never be good enough for anything worth his spot, at least in SF)........

Well, it all adds up to "Terrell Owens Day" being ironic in the sense that the 49ers, especially the overrated GM in Baalke IMO, not being able to find another stud in the draft since. Crabtree? I still think a solid number two WR who skirts the edge of a number one stud, but that was Scot McGlouhan's pick, who I think still works for Pete Carroll in SEA. We all know how AJ Jenkins worked out, who was Baalke's first bust.
