*** San Francisco 49ers *** Official thread (11 Viewers)

QB Mac Jones just cashed a sweet $400K bonus after the win over the Falcons — and he’ll earn $100K for every victory moving forward.

Should have negotiated for more, a win in the NFL is worth more to a franchise than 100K, that's for sure

He should be getting 250K at least

Prior to this season, Purdy had only missed 2 games to injury...I doubt he was trying to negotiate that incentive too hard.

Matt Maiocco was asked if Matt Hennessy will remain the starting center once Jake Brendel is healthy:

“Matt stepped in and did a very good job after Jake Brendel sustained a hamstring injury. So Hennessy deserves a lot of credit for being mentally and physically prepared to handle the assignment. The 49ers’ run game got off to a very strong start while Brendel was on the field, and he was having a good game. San Francisco gained 86 yards on 12 rushing attempts while Brendel was in the game for a 7.2-yard average. Before the final two kneel-downs at the end of the game for minus-2 yards, the 49ers gained 90 yards on 25 rushing attempts after Brendel’s injury. The 49ers gained half the yards (3.6) on the ground per rushing attempt after Brendel’s injury. Again, Hennessy did his job, but Brendel has been the 49ers’ starter the past four seasons for a reason"

Seems to me as the game went on, the Falcons started stacking the box more trying to stop the run game from gashing them, which might explain the drop in YPC. Hennessey passed the eye test, IMO.

Matt Maiocco on the possibility of Robert Saleh remaining the 49ers DC after this season:

“The only way Saleh does not land one of those coveted HC positions in 2026 is if owners and general managers focus on offensive-minded candidates. We doubt any amount of money could keep Saleh as a defensive coordinator. He wants to be a head coach and wash away the taste of getting fired after leading the dysfunctional New York Jets for more than three seasons.
Shanahan knew when he hired Saleh that he might have him for only one year. That’s why the tentative succession plan at defensive coordinator involves Gus Bradley, who holds the title of 49ers assistant head coach of defense.”

The buzz: Hendrickson would be far and away the most attractive trade target if Cincinnati entertains a deal. However, a team source told ESPN, as reported Oct. 14, that the Bengals have no plans to trade the former All-Pro. The interest will be there regardless, and San Francisco in particular considers Hendrickson an ideal fit. The Bengals' record is 3-4 and the team is in the thick of the AFC North race, all the more reason to keep its best defensive player. -- Fowler

Lots of trade chatter/ speculation involving the Niners. ESPN is linking them to Hendrickson, Olave, and other interesting pieces.

I'm way more skeptical than Maiocco about this. Although the worse Glenn does the better Saleh looks by comparison.

You think Saleh stays another year after this one?

I just don't think there's a huge demand for defensive-minded HCs and if there is, there will probably be guys without the recent track record of failure weighing them down.
