Micah Parsons had some choice words for Kittle for wearing the F DALLAS shirt

Take your beat down like a man, Micah.
I said in the Cowboys thread and I'll say it here. Becoming famous just b/c you are a Cowboy is kind of a detriment to the team. They do things/get away with things where other organizations/coaches/teammates step in and say "hey you can't talk now" or "Hey why don't you be quiet for a minute"

DVOA metrics through 5 weeks:

Total: 1st
Offense: 2nd
Defense: 7th
Special Teams: 9th

49ers are the only team in the NFL with a Top-10 unit in all 3 phases, and theyre not even close to peaking yet.

SoS has a LOT to do with this, just like last season when both PHI and SF had the two easiest SoS in the NFL.

Just sayin' it kinda helps to qualify those numbers vs. the SoS for context reasons. Also, DVOA is not a predictable model, even Danny Tuccitto would say that, and he was an editor at Football Ousiders once Aaaron Schatz left for Grantland.

Crazy:

Can Brock Purdy go from Mr. Irrelevant to NFL MVP?

At (+400) he has surpassed Patrick Mahomes (+425) to become the new favorite 👀

One of my early offseason bets is looking good. If it hits, my $10 turns into $500. 💰🤑

Wow

The Browns defense will be another good challenge for the 49ers O.

Cleveland's D currently ranks 1st in:

Yds per play: 3.8
Scoring %: 17.8
YPG: 197
QB knockdowns: 20
Pressure %: 30.3
Compl %: 53.8
Yards per rush: 3.2
3rd down conversion %: 22.6
Points per drive: .92

Looks like rain in Cleveland this weekend. That might help neutralize the differences between the quality of the offenses and make this a sloppy defensive struggle.

Fred Warner needs 2 tackles pass NaVorro Bowman for 4th in 49ers’ franchise history for tackles.

He’s still chasing Patrick Willis, Derek Smith and Ken Norton.

He’s 276 tackles behind Willis for the #1 spot.

Woke up this morning and decided to get tickets to 49ers @ Jaguars week 10. This'll be my first time going to two 49er games in a season (week 1 @ PIT was the other).

I hear there's a chance it could be flexed from 1pm to Sunday Night. I wouldn't be mad at that!

I feel like this season could be Shanahan's masterpiece, so I dont want to let a chance to see them again slip by.

Not sure why they were so content on a wet field with a 40+ yard field goal either. Could’ve picked up another 5-10 yards.
I had that thought to but maybe it was better not to tempt fate with how the offense was playing.

I thought just run the QB Sneak up the middle...although to be fair that kick was off from the start and i'm not sure 5 yards would have made a difference
It was no good from the start.

It’s a front office move I never understood. You want to make a run, you need a clutch kicker. Why draft a guy in the 3rd instead of just resigning Robbie?

Not the end of the world. Typical let down game after a huge emotional game, facing the #1 defense on the road, losing Deebo and CMC...

And then there's the Jim Schwartz factor.

Kyle Shanahan is now 1-8 in his career vs Jim Schwartz coached defenses. He just has Kyle's number.

I think Moody will be fine. It was an off day for everyone.

The kickoffs were a major problem the last couple years. They were giving the other team a free 8-10 yards because Gould couldn’t get a touchback to save his life. Overdrafting a kicker wasn’t the answer, though.

Lightning had to strike multiple times (bad calls, missed easy FG) for them to lose, so the loss itself doesn’t concern me. But there are long term concerns here with the OL - it’s not like the Eagles are going to be any easier to handle if they meet in the playoffs. And I don’t know the kind of remainder of the season Moody would have to have for me not to be worried about him in the playoffs.

I don't think Banks was 100% coming off the shoulder injury, and they have 6 weeks before we see the Eagles. I think they'll be OK.

I just feel Cleveland was more up to it than SF was. One of those days. Even Aiyuk has several catchable drops.

Hopefully we get good news on Deebo and McCaffrey. We have an extra day to rest, so that may help.

Also, we missed Greenlaw today, he's been playing lights out and helping set the tone on defense.

As for Moody, I expect some misses, but I obviously don't want them on potential game winners. I guess all we can do is hope he gets better, especially in pressure situations. If it costs us another game, I'll join you with pitchforks. Until then, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he will tighten up.

I remember saying before the season that I'd be really happy with a 4-1 start.

5-1 works, especially since the loss was against a non conference team we wont have to see again any time soon.

Some of the playcalling was bad today though, especially late in the game. We needed to eat clock on the 2nd to last drive and we throw it 3 straight times? Dumb. Could have closed the door on that drive with a first down or 2.

Plenty of season left. Learn and move on.

CMC, haven’t seen very much. Anyone? Think Trent will be okay, maybe 1-2 weeks on Deebo.
Barrows compared the CMC injury to the one Purdy played through in Seattle last year. Sounds like he and Deebo are going to miss at least one game.

Which should be fine. Aiyuk, Kittle, Jennings, Mitchell, and Mason are still a pretty good set of weapons. Purdy just needs more time next week.

Also, Kyle will game plan with those players. Deebo was a HUGE part of today's plan and when he went out, Kyle didn't have a plan B. And then the CMC injury just compounded the issue.

I bet they bounce back just fine next week and Purdy has a typical good Purdy day.

The sky isn't falling in San Francisco.

With everything that happened yesterday - the pregame skirmish, Cleveland defense dominating, the early missed FG, the injuries, the weather, the horrible refs, bad penalties, Purdy looking like a rookie...with all of that, we were still in a position to win with a FG at the end.

Bottom line is a LOT has to go wrong for the 49ers to lose, and it was a perfect storm of things going wrong. A kick at the end goes a few more feet left, and we're talking about Purdy leading them on a last minute comeback drive and finding a way to win despite being outplayed all day.

Even if Deebo and CMC miss any time, better now than later, and with the weapons we have, we will be fine. Next 3 games are at Vikings, Bengals at home, then the bye before going to Jacksonville. If we go 2-1 in those games we're 7-2 and still in great shape. The Eagles have their share of injuries and have a brutal schedule coming up, but the Lions look real good and have a pretty cake schedule. They're the team we're gonna have to keep pace with for top seeding.

I feel like they needed a game like this as a wake up call. It's possible for as focused as this team usually is, they may have got a bit complacent. I don't know if that's true, but I know this: there is zero chance they're complacent now.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that SF covers next week.

49ers pressures allowed vs the Browns (PFF):

Trent Williams: 4
Jake Brendel: 3
Spencer Burford: 3
Aaron Banks: 2
Colton McKivitz: 1

Williams playing hurt didn't help.

For all the talk about the offense looking bad, the defense was just as bad.

Per Akash:

The 49ers' defense missed 10 tackles on Sunday vs. Browns, per PFF.

That's more missed tackles than their three previous games combined (9).

What did that lead to? Browns had 106 of their 160 rushing yards after contact.

Oof
