Schaub vs Hasselbeck (1 Viewer)

It was easier when Hass was hurt...now I have to decide between these two guys each week. Both are decent starts...Hass vs Card and Schaub vs Bengals.

I have seen numerous posts where owners have both of these guys this year, probably waited on QB and took Schaub then Hass.

Well, this week I'm curious what owners will do. The Cardinals have the leagues worst pass defense so far, and it will likely be a shootout in Seattle with some rain forecasted. The Bengals have the 23rd ranked pass defense and have been able to shut down the opposing team's #1 wr so far this year, but Schaub has been putting up great numbers. It's in Cincy with a clear forecast.

I'm personally leaning towards Hass, but his ribs scare me and his OL is in shambles right now.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do. I started Hasselback week 1 over Schaub and it worked out. I started Hasselback week 2 over Schaub :goodposting: and Hasselback went down in the second quarter, scored 5 points, and Schaub lit it up and had 31.

I'd start Hasselback...at home, with a better matchup, in a shootout. Theres a decent chance scores in the Houston-Cinci game top out in the mid teens.

Rolling with Hass, a lot of Schaub pts have come in straight junk time. Cincy hasn't been blowing opponents out so I don't see a 31 pt showing from him

I have Hasselbeck and McNabb and will be starting Hass, so in your case I would also go with Hasselbeck.

Oh, no... the forum police again.... :lmao: I am going with Hasselback, because it was painful to watch him blow up on my bench last week (even though Schaub had a good game).PLEASE, PLEASE Glasselback don't go down on us in the first quarter! Good luck everyone!

Hass...don't worry too much about the ribs. He threw for 4 TDs last week with those same ribs and now has had another week to heal.

I've got the same decision and I'm leaning towards Hass. I can see this going back and forth until Sunday am.

Those of us that waited to draft our QB do this quite a bit during the season.

I knew someone would post this...but I am NOT asking what I should do with my team. I'm gathering opinions of what other owners are doing with their teams.
 Im so sure you dont have these two on your team. This is a clear AC Thread
If you read my OP you would know that I have both of these guys and am not trying to hide that. But, I am not asking others to pick my starter, I am simply gathering info on owners who are in my situation and what they are doing. I will make my own decision, but am curious what fellow FBGers are doing and if they are struggling with this decision as much as I am.Relax.

This. Hasselbeck is good at home. He may throw some picks, but he is a lock for 3 TDs. Schaub: It's time to evaluate the Bengals differently, they have a good defense and will be tough to play in Cincy.

Agree. I have the same option but with Hass at home and I am gaining a lot of respect for the Bengal defense. Oringinally Thought this season I'd go with Schaub as long as he was healthy but this week I'm going with Hass. I do feel that Schaub is a good option however,.

I expect Hasselbeck to have a better game than Schaub due to the defensive matchups, but the part about Schaub getting a lot of points in junk time is not true.Game 1: Schaub and the entire offense is inept.Game 2: Schaub throws four TDs and the Texans win by 3.Game 3: Schaub throws three TDs in a game that was tied 24-24 after three quarters. Houston fumbles late at the 1 and loses 31-24.Game 4: Little passing as Houston dominates Oakland 29-6 (1 TD).Game 5: While it's true that Houston trailed 21-0 at the half, Schaub's first TD came with 12:18 to play in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to 7. The next drive tied the game with seven minutes left. In the final two drives, one was ended by a pick-6 and the other was stopped in a goal line stand to preserve Arizona's 7 point win.I suppose the "garbage time" reference was to the Arizona game -- it can't possibly be to any other game -- but a game that was tied midway through the fourth quarter and ended with a goal line stand doesn't exactly scream garbage time to me.

Since we're all gathering info friends here....what say ye sharks who have to start two of the following: Ray Rice, Brandon Jacobs, and LT?? I promise no info gathered will influence my decision as to whom I will start....just really curious as to what everyone else is doing with their teams.

Thanks,

Bill

I'm starting Hass over Schaub in one league and over Cutler in another. Rolling with Schaub in 3 other leagues though.

I know a lot of us have schaub and garrard as well (pretty much everyone that read tge perfect draft article  ).

Garrard has Stl at home, but I'm still leaning towards Schaub. I think it will be the MJD show for JAX.

We have both and will be starting Hasselbeck - home versus a Cardinals D that has been pretty good against the run and terrible against the pass. Schaub faces a tougher defense on the road.

I like how the "thread police" are the bad guys while the douchers who can't wrap their brains around the rules are somehow justified because they're "just gathering information."
 This cracked me up. Couldn't have said it any better myself workdog3.

I'd like to participate, but I only have Hass and Favre to choose from. Maybe I should start another thread in the Shark Pool for those who have to decide between Hass and Favre. Those who have to choose between Hass and McNabb can start their own thread, and so on.

 The "Schaub vs Hasselbeck" Thread will long be remembered as when the wheels finally came completely of the Shark Pool. I mean come on "lots of people have this decision to make"? Is there some statistical reference to the percentage of owners that have paired these two quarterbacks? Oh wait, they are 100% on the Original Posters team...

And I quote, from Joe Bryant (the owner of this place) in his basic rules involving posting in The Shark Pool: The rule of thumb for the Shark Pool here is "Make it applicable to everyone".

Your thinly veiled Who Do I Start Thread does not pass this most important of tests. Period.

WDIS? DeAngelo or Moreno. Will answer yours!
Cobalt, you're missing the new rules! - as long as you don't say WDIS, you're okay. Just reword your post a little, and you can ask any questions you need to about your specific team! Thank goodness we don't have to go to the Assistant Coach forum anymore, sure was tiring having to go way over there!

Thanks for the tip! I figure "should"...should put me in the clear.

Sorry, still need a little change... COULD! Who could I start. Adds a whole theoretical slant to this that no moderator could possibly argue with!WCIS - Brought to you by the Shark Pool.

Ok. I like it. We do need one major modification, however. Technically, it should be WHOM could I start?

How is this thread any different from the "I'm starting Avery over____" or "who do you like better the rest of the year?"Obviously you are going to open threads that apply to you and your situation. Owners who have both of these guys are coming in here to share their thoughts. If you don't have these guys, you're just coming in here to be a pain.

Explain to me how this thread is different than the above threads

Also, explain to me how this hurts this forum.

You need to get yourself a girl or something...too much time on your hands if you're coming here just to complain.

To be truthful, 90% of the threads in this forum do not directly apply to 'everyone'. And I agree that this thread is not much different than "I'm starting so-and-so over so-and-so", or "what are your thoughts on this player from here on out", etc.

classic . . .

I drafted my QB's AFTER Hass and Schaub were gone. Glad I dont have this thread's problem. I guarantee there are holes elsewhere that should be addressed in th ACF.

You've been here way too long to not understand why that ACF exists, what sort of posts belong there, and...most importantly...why the SP doesn't need the clutter with stuff like this.Threads that are asking for advice on how you should draft or manage your team belong in The Assistant Coach forum.

Thanks for this thread Deuce's. After my own teams, it's yours that I care about the most and there is no decision more important than who's going to start at QB.

One last time...Where am I asking for advice on how I should manage my team? I am asking how other owners are managing their teams. No?I'm ready to let this one die. It's obviously a lost cause. But thanks for adding so much to this debate.

Semantics. Intent still entirely the same.

unrelated to the original post.. but it does seem that a ton of people have Hass and Schaub... both were forecast to be 'breakout' QB's this year (or rebound QB's?)... I drafted both thinking my chances were good one would be top 10... it looks like both are on their way there as long and they stay upright.

Related to the ACF portion of this post (if that's what this is)... I was thinking Schaub until I looked at the stats... CIN D has been solid and AZ D has been horrid vs the pass... makes the decision easier... Hass (Glassleback made me  )

I have to admit (as a newer poster but a long time reader) the "I'm starting MSW over ________" threads seem to be asking nearly the same thing as this thread IMO... no one's answering except MSW owners... (I'm starting him over the IND WR's who are on bye and Maclin vs OAK).

With Rob Sims out and Kyle Williams, who is a practice squad member, starting at left tackle I don't like Hass this week vs Ari. Ari def is not the same as Jax.

I also need to "gather info"....on whether Ray Rice will have a big game, LT will score a touchdown, and if Brandon Jacobs can run against the Saints front four. I bet a large % of people here have one of those backs or perhaps one of the corresponding defenses...either way, should be cool to post in the shark pool. Just wonder if three separate threads would be more appropriate...??

Go Florida Gators!!!!
