Scoring Question: The LJ Fumble (1 Viewer)

The current NFL gamebook for the Chiefs game lists LJ with a fumble, but it's not "lost". For those of you who missed it, he had the ball popped out of his hands at the 1, and it rolled out the back of the end zone for a touchback, Cincy took over at the 20.

I know gamebooks aren't official until later on, but, what's the rule about scoring "lost" fumbles--does a fumble out of the end zone count as "lost" or just a "regular" fumble? I'd think since the other team took possession I'd be scored as "lost", no?

EDIT: Huh, nevermind, gamebook's been updated 10 minutes after I posted. Weird. Someone must have been watching this board

I am unsure how the NFL will score this, but when I processed stats at the HS & College level, this would be considered as a lost fumble.

A lost fumble is defined in a fumble that results in the other team's possession. While no one recovered the fumble, it did result in a change of possession.

I cannot stand that rule. They should have given the ball back to KC at the point of the fumble. The D did not do anything to deserve the resulting change in possession.
