many of us use same ones...on-line... pfw, sn (dan pompei & team reports), pasquarelli's weekly tip sheet (espn), nfl.com (prisco has some good columns), usa today team reports & their sports weekly in print.another resource i discovered this dynasty draft season which was a big help was at yahoo nfl... click on team link & you can call up an approx 4 minute highlight package for most day one prospects (look for mini-camera icon to right of name)... mid-late round prospects that zoomed up my board (or preserved high grade & held up under greater scrutiny) based on the always nice to get when easily accessible film...DL - marcus spears, chris canty (agility of a LB in nearly 6'8" package), mike pattersonLB - odell thurman (vilma-like instincts & explosion), lofa tatupu, kirk morrison, jordan beckDB - marlin jackson, brodney poole, carlos rogers, O atogwe, donte nicholson... i better stop b4 i give up some of my sleepers.i relize that a little knowledge can be just enough to make someone dangerous... needless to say these highlights by their nature gloss over weaknesses (in some instances critical ones)... but i still say it is better to have something to work with than nothing in that department. it is of course advisable to counterbalance this with good scout guide/s like sn, pfw, usa today, kiper, coyle, etc. for the weaknesses. but what highlights ARE good for... when you see the almost dancer-like grace of michael clayton spinning in the air, easily cradling ball with massive, soft hands, completing the turn & in position to hit the ground running... or jonathan vilma exploding through a hole in the defense & knocking a player back 5 yards like they had been hit with a high caliber ammunition round speak volumes... it may not seem like much... but even if you account for the fact that you are seeing these guys at their absolute apex (when everything goes right)... if you find players like above who churn out & author plays that 99% of prospects couldn't make... EVEN AT THEIR BEST (after all, you get to compare & cross reference with other highlights within different positions & tiers)... than you can get a glimmering to how this could be kind of useful in some instances. beats wading through 18 hours of espn coverage, sometimes spotty coverage, & at best maybe less than 1 minute of highlights. i find even taking a few minutes on a short list of prospects you are considering invests your pick with an additional layer or level of meaning... you get to sort out the different print media (scout guides) in a way where you yourself are the ultimate judge of how to weigh them... based on what you have gotten to see...WITH YOUR OWN EYES.the more "witnesses" in our fbg IDP scouting community, the more accurate & grounded our insights & reflections are likely to be.* edit/add - guys on offense that stood out for me... maurice clarrett (reminiscent of bigger emmitt smith), eric shelton, chris henry, courtney robey, brandon jones & dan orlovsky.
