Sean Lee racking up tackles (1 Viewer)

I am contemplating dropping Barnett or Hawthorne for him but don't want to make a rash decision after just one week.
Unless I'm mistaken, I think I only saw 2 plays where Lee wasn't on the field. I don't think making a move for him after tonight is going to be a mistake. I'm just glad I drafted him as one of my bench LBs this summer. He's the full time starter now, with James and Brooking rotating. And as the OP stated, the dude made just about every play tonight. Serous instincts and tackling ability.

I watched him his entire career at Penn State, and really until his last year he was overshadowed by Puz and Connor. Looks like he's finally adjusted to the NFL speed of the game, and also will be getting the opportunities. Considering Greene/LT only got 15 carries and Lee still racked up 10 solos, I think thats a very good sign. The big plays are just icing on the cake.

I own him in both of my dynasty IDP leagues and never heard he was now a starter. Was this announced at any point or did he just earn it last night.

I think it was a sneak attack. I have been trying to be plugged into the new ILBs (Carter/Lee) vs the old ones (James/Brooking) and everything I read the old guys were sticking around. With the way Lee was playing I can't imagine that he will leave the field at all. Hell of the game by him last night!

I dropped Barnett for Lee.

I am going with Sean Lee, Thomas Davis, D'Qwell Jackson, Curtis Lofton, and David Hawthorne at LB. (We start 2LB & 2 Flex).

I'm pretty sure Lee was wearing the earpiece and it looked like he was calling pre-snap adjustments in the 2nd half

and he went to PSU if you still aren't sure if he's a good pick-up ;)

Left him on my bench in at least a couple of leagues thinking Brooking would still eat into too many of his snaps. Lesson learned. :wall:

I watched this closer than anyone as a dynasty holder of both Lee and Brooking> Coaches enver said one thing about Lee becoming the primary guy until the day of the game. Pretty surprising but the press had been hounding the staff that Lee should be used as opposed to a 14 year veteran.Cost me a lot of points not knowing sooner, that is for sure.

No kidding, I waited until the last minute to submit my lineups scouring Twitter and local message boards for info but as usual the coaches kept these kinds of decisions pretty close to the vest. Started Andra Davis over him in one league, just hoping for at least a quiet but solid 4-5 solos. Oof.

So Lee is the starting everydown WILB? With James and Brooking rotating at RILB, correct?
Lee is also rotating to be clear, but a whole lot less; the Bottom line Brooking is being phased out but with the most respect possible due to his tremendous leadership etc.

Negative Nancies here. Be happy you got Lee. He looks like he could be a stud this year. Dude had a great game.

There was very little indication that Lee had forced a depth chart change during the preseason. Rob Ryan rarely shows much of his personnel packages in the preseason, though, and Lee was playing very well while Brooking rested a nagging injury or two early in the preseason.

Last night was an extension of what we've seen since Lee first started playing in certain subpackages (as the MLB in the 35 changeup front last year v the run and when spelling either ILB when dinged). Lee doesn't have elite range, but his instincts are tremendous and he rarely misses tackles. He's athletic enough to handle most coverage responsibilities, but he'll struggle in man coverage against better backs (see LT last night) and gets lost in zone sometimes. But he's got good ball skills when in position.

I didn't count snaps, but I'd guess that we'll find out later this week (Blogging the Boys, etc) that Lee played 90-95% of the snaps, Brooking 60-75%, James 25-35% of the snaps. Think I saw Victor Butler take a handful of ILB snaps in a subpackage or too as well.

I doubt Lee's snap count is a fluke of the Jets' game plan. Lee was in there when the Jets had power personnel (Greene, etal) or more flexible personnel in (LT, etal). He wore the helmet with the communicator. I also don't think it was related to James' health (he was on the injury report last week), as he looked pretty healthy when on the field, but I'm not sure that can be completely ruled out yet.

This is great news in redraft leagues, as Lee has looked like the best all-around inside linebacker on the roster since midseason 2010. If he stays in the current role, he's easily a LB2+ value. It's great news for dynasty guys, who won't have to worry about whether or not Lee will have to compete with Bruce Carter to establish himself this offseason.

Bradie James recorded zero tackles, GOOSE EGG. With all of this talk of James and Brooking rotating, it should be time to let him go, right?

Not that anybody gives a crap but gotta get off my chest that I held this guy for a year and then dropped him to pick up Sean Weatherspoon last week.

REALLY glad I picked him up last week, especially with Daryl Washington getting hurt last week, Thomas Davis going down this week, and David Hawthorne coming back with a whimper. Gonna have to scour the waiver wire again this week at a position I thought I was loaded at coming into week 1.

Curious what his dynasty outlook is with Carter. I'm tempted to trade for him, but his owner loves him, and if he's a one year player it wouldn't be worth it.

Donald Butler?
