Seattle #1 In (1 Viewer)

The situation will work itself out next weekend when the true #1 should emerge, but for now there is no question...although the Falcons may have a claim as well.

The Seahawks are starting to ramp it up. That wco is all about timing and takes a game or two to get in a groove. The Bears should be a good test for Seattle but I think they can take them. Their D is looking good right now.

Branch is a good fit for them

They have to stay healthy though and in the past they've seemed to just barely get their players back when they needed em' most.

My vote is for Seattle followed closely by the Bears. Neither team is running the ball as efficiently as we would have expected. While the Bears defense is the best, they haven't faced an offense like Seattle's. Seattle did in fact face a very powerful offense and got the job done before they fell asleep in the 4th quarter.

I expect Seattle to go 4-wide next week. If Seattle wins this on the road I expect Hasselbeck to have a big game. Lots of options for him now with Jackson, Engram, and Branch. Yes, I purposefully left Burleson off that list. Was nice to see him make two tough grabs today, but he also dropped a gimme (again).

Hawkes get my vote. They improved on defense, grabbed perhaps the missing piece in a trade, and are 3-0 following their Super Bowl loss. Tell me theyre not hungry and more determined than ever.

Being the defending NFC champs, they will keep that title until someone knocks them off this year in the playoffs, and I believe they are up to the task of defending.

This is the game we never got to see last year because Steve Smith became a one man wrecking crew. I was anxiously awaiting it last year, and it looks like the two teams should be even better in '06. Making this game on prime-time = :pickle:

I think he's referring to the SEA @ CHI game next week on Sunday night.
Yeah but what does Steve Smith have to do with it?
Uhhh, playoff game last year in Chi.

Making my butt sit down in the stadium to watch it in person makes it :pickle:

Sounds about right. I don't get all the love for the Bears - but if they manage to beat the Seahawks I'll dish it out. I don't see that happening - but then again, any given Sunday . . .

Last week I was scared of the Bears, this week not so much.(Still be a tough game)

Atlanta COULD be up there, and Carolina is a total different team with Smith on the field.

I'm not sold on Seattle yet. They've not had an impressive win yet - their first three opponents are a combined 2-7 on the season. While Hasselbeck looks great, that running game will need to get on track if they want to compete with the other top NFC teams.

For now, I'd rank the top NFC teams as follows:

1. Philadelphia

2. Chicago

3. Seattle

4. Atlanta

It's odd having the only team with a loss at the top of that list, but the Eagles to me have the best overall combination of offense, defense and special teams and I view that loss to the Giants as a fluke.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that the loss is a fluke. And Philly's two wins have been against Houston and San Francisco. Philly's first 3 opponents are a combined 2-7 too so not sure why you would even use that as an argument. So I would put Philly below Chicago, Seattle and Atlanta, and perhaps Dallas.

FWIW, Burleson was wearing a small cast on his hand that could have contributed to that drop. He looked much better this week than in previous ones.

Chicago's opponents record: 3-6 (GB, DET, MIN) Seattle's opponents record: 2-7 (DET, ARI, NYG)Atlanta's opponents record: 3-5 (CAR, TB, NO)Dallas' opponents record: 3-3 (JAX, WAS)Not really sure why opponents record is so important when ranking a team. Especially this early in the season. Personally, I think Seattle may be the best team in the NFC. But IMO they need home-field to get back to the Superbowl.I wouldn't rank Chicago high because they can't score with good teams. So in the playoffs, if their D has a so-so game where they give up 17-20 points they will have a hard time winning.Atlanta will rely on Vick, but he is too reliant on his feet. Once he becomes a better passer and teams have to respect his arm, he will be unstoppable. Unfortunately, that may never happen.Drew Bledsoe...that's all I have to say about Dallas.

My top three were...

Seattle

Chicago

Atlanta

Atlanta is now off that list. #1 will be decided after this weekend, and I am watching how Carolina takes off now having Smith back.

I would say Seattle impressed me this past weekend with their pasting of the Giants....however I wouldn't overlook Dallas or Philly yet. Dallas played the Jags tough, had some bad calls and bad mental plays but could've won that game on the road. Philly could just as easily by 3-0 as well. Not to mention what happens if Washington beats Jacksonville. These next 2 weeks will be huge in determining who are the powerhouses in the NFC.

big bears fan here

seattle is still #1 in the NFC although like everyone said, this weekend could change that if the bears beat em. as for now, i do think they're still alone at the top, and i expect them to get a win this weekend @ chicago

the only teams that i see having the potential to de-throne seattle are chicago, philly, and i had thought atlanta before monday night ... maybe it was a fluke with all the hype and they'll start looking good again

just beneath them are carolina (only with steve smith), dallas & NYG

Nice move champ.... replying to your own post.
More like eatting crow where crow needed to be eaten, something 99% of the people on the internet (and this forum in particular) are incapable of doing.

Hey there Mr. clueless, he was giving props to the Bears, admitting that he was wrong. Very classy thing to do.
