What's the rationale of going for the field goal there?  Anyone?

You have to score, get the onside kick and score again.  One score can be a FG. 

May as well try the FG, then go for the TD next time with whatever time remains, than burn clock trying to score and coming up short.

Of course, this assumes the kicker is competent.

Regardless you need a TD.  What difference does it make if you kick the field goal there.

If it was like 3rd and 10 or something i could see a field goal but it didn't make sense in those circumstances.  Garett went to Princeton so supposedly he's pretty smart but I think the strategy there was faulty.  The chances of winning at that point were quite small but still...

Oh, well.  This was a poorly managed season at all levels including allowing Elliott to continue his pointless appeals so that he'd be missed at the most crucial part of the season.  

On the plus side, they may finally have fixed the secondary.  Getting rid of Claiborne and Carr was huge but the guys they drafted really look good and I thought they developed them well.  Now we need a playmaking WR and another sideline-to-sideline LB.  

I feel bad for Bailey, who obviously wasn't right today.  This loss isn't on him at all.
