Seattle RB situation dynamics - Julius Jones and TJ Duckett (1 Viewer)

I realize we have a few threads on the topic; i.e. Julius Jones signs with Seattle , Where will Julius Jones end up? Will he ever be a starter? , Seahawks sign Duckett to 5 year Deal ... and maybe a couple more that have some discussion on the players but I wanted to get the ball rolling on discussing how these two would work together in the backfield together if Shaun Alexander is gone.

Right now, the Seahawks still have Alexander and Mo Morris and I'm not opposed to talking about that some too.

What are the chances of Alexander being cut?

What are the chances of Mo Morris being brought back and what role would he have?

But, my main purpose here is to explore the situation of Duckett and Jones as a tandem as it's rumored Alexander will be cut and is said the team is not high on Morris.

Who will be the primary ball carrier between Jones and Duckett or will they split carries?

Are we thinking Jones will be the third down back?

Will Duckett be a goalline back? A short yardage back?

Is Duckett talented enough as a rusher to pilfer away carries from Jones? Is it wrong to characterize Duckett in this situation as just a specialist?

I'm just going to throw out some random thoughts here and maybe they'll make their way into a conversation.

Jones averaged only around 3 and a half yards per carry last year despite playing behind a pretty good offenisve line. Duckett averaged over 5 yards per carry behind a pretty bad offensive line. :goodposting:

Yet, Jones has been a starter for half his career at least and Duckett always second or third fiddle.

Career stats (rushing):

Julius Jones

2004 8 Games 197 carries for 819, 4.2 ypc, 7 rushing TD's

2005 13 games 257 for 993, 3.9, 5 TD's

2006 16 games 267 for 1084, 4.0, 4 TD's

2007 16 games 165 for 585, 3.5, 2 TD's

T.J. Duckett

2002 12 games 130 for 507, 3.9, 4 TD's

2003 16 197 for 779, 4.0, 11

2004 13 104 for 509, 4.9, 8

2005 14 121 for 380, 3.1, 8

2006 11 38 for 132, 3.5, 2

2007 11 65 for 335, 5.2, 3
