SF 49ers..the keys to your FF Championship! (1 Viewer)

SYMPHONY X

People on the board have been pointing out that the NFC West plays the AFC West. Just took a look at the 49ers schedule for this season. All I can say is...WOW! Gore in the 1st, Crabby in the 5th, and Davis in the 6th, and the Niners DEF late is looking like money. I know some people don't put much stock into the "last year's stats equals this year's success" theory, but you have to absolutely love the 49ers this year.

A lot of juicy matchups, especially in the money weeks 14-17 (I may be taking that SF DEF a couple rounds earlier than planned just because of this alone!!) If that offensive line can gel early with the 2 rookies, then I see no reason why Frank Gore won't be challenging for the #1 fantasy RB title all year long. Vernon Davis and Crabtree won't see a top secondary for damn near the whole season. A couple of the tough defenses that they do face (NO, PHI, OAK) will all be visiting SF this year.

Anyone else with me on this? Grab them Niners! What other team from the NFC West versus AFC West battles sticks out at you this year because of schedule?

If you think Alex Smith can play well, then maybe.

I don't think having two rookies on an OL is a recipe for success myself. Also consider that the defense benefited from a lot of fumble recoveries, and fumble recovery has been proven to be almost entirely luck.

I have my only draft in ~10 days and it is a two keeper league. I am looking to draft Crabtree at 3.06 (WR2 for me) or definitely drafting him at 4.03 if he is there. One caveat to this is that I have picks 2, 6, and 15 in the draft so I have some leeway to maneuver. Depending on who is kept and taken, I could see drafting him at 6 for assurance purposes. That would be my fourth player when some only have two.

You had me hooked until I read the bolded above. HUGE "IF".

 I am. I like Crabtree and the 49ers DEF in particular.Crabtree's ADP has benefited from him not playing in the preseason. I have said it before but I think what he did last year as a rookie with no training camp and no preseason is remarkable. And I agree completely with the 49ers DEF. You can usually snag them just outside the top 5 and they will be one of the top few defenses at the end of the year, imo.

Yeah, great points texasheat and big0mar. Not sure exactly what to make of the 2 rookies starting on the O-line, but one would have to think that they are an upgrade over whomever they are replacing from last year. I am going with the upgrade theory.

Yeah, I am liking Crabtree as well. Seems to have some tremendous upside. Teams can't totally focus on him with Gore and Davis running around. Now the only question is "can Alex Smith get him the rock?"

Big believer in the 49 defense, but almost as big a believer in the Raider D for most of the same reasons, and they can be plucked from the WW in most leagues.

After watching every niner game last year, these 2 rookies are a HUGE upgrade to what we had last year. Their quick progress this preseason is looking nice as well.

Thanks for posting this. The o-line is obviously a question with the rooks, but if they do improve it, then many good things are obviously in store for the 49ers offense.

Thanks for the reply. I, too, am thinking that the OAK D could be a nice steal this year. Haven't really looked at the overall schedule, but the playoffs aren't looking bad for them, outside of INDY in week 16 who may be resting starters by then anyways. I am really starting to like me some Bush/McFadden the more I look at that schedule!

I wouldnt draft Gore as the top back, but easily see him being the top back with a healthy season. 18 Touchdowns is reachable with some luck.

whats goingon with Vernon Davis' knee though...read he is out all of preseason but not much else.....lose him and thats a huge loss. Hopefully its just precautionary

I'm definitely high on the Niner's this year. I'll be taking Gore at the 5 spot, and then I hope to get Crabtree and the 49er's D. Maybe even Davis too. I may even go so far as to take A. Smith as my back-up QB. When you look at his stats last year, and you pro-rate what he did once he took over from Hill, they're pretty decent.

In my start 2QB league, I am hoping to snag Alex Smith as my 3rd QB. I don't see him throwing for a lot of TD's, with Gore punching quite a few in, and probably not playing from behind all that much. But I guess you could do much worse than Smith at QB3.

I have the opportunity to trade for crabtree. I currently have Steve Smith(Carolina). His offer was Crabtree and his 3rd round(pick 33) for my 2nd(pick 18). I think this is a little high...just seeing if I am out of my mind and what other people would take if you were in my shoes.

now he just emailed me back and said Crabtree and his 7th for my 6th round....should I take it?

Keep in mind this is a keeper league where we keep 3....so the 6th round is more like the 9th round.

I started this thread earlier, giving it a little bump. The 49ers are gonna be money this year, but what about the rest of the AFC West/NFC West. Do some of the Seahawks/Cardinals/Rams players need to be bumped a bit due to what appears to be a soft schedule? How bout them Chiefs/Donkeys/Raiders players?

Chiefs O might surprise - McCluster in PPR. A rebound season from Bowe. Does cassell get it? that is the questionGaffney in Denver is the WR to have IMO, good WR4 at draft timeOakland - Still aways a way.SD - Rivers Mathews n Gates should provide near elite level production if Healthy. I like Floyd as a sleeper.

Love Gore this year. He was elite on a ppg basis last year, and I expect improvement.

I usually play matchup defense from week to week, but am targeting SFran to keep all year. I'll still play matchups, but SFran has several good matchups and could be a very good NFL defense to boot...

That's a good list. I am all over Gaffney this year. Gonna try to land him as my WR4 in both of my drafts this weekend. One thing I remember vividly from last year was how Orton locked onto Marshall in week 14 and blasted me right outta the ####### playoffs by contributing to Marshall's record-breaking monster of a day. If he locks onto Gaffney this year, then Gaffney should be a lock (no pun intended) for WR2 production.I am also really liking Floyd as a WR3 or 4, but it may be a little hard to land him. I won't be the only one trying to steal him.McCluster is interesting..will mark him down as a later round flier.
