Shane Vereen (1 Viewer)

He's in now, and getting lots of work. Just had a bad drop, but a nice run.

To me, it kind of looks like Belichick is trying to get Gray some work in, because he knows he'll need him as the season goes on. Vereen's getting in a lot as well, though. I'd guess 50/50 split, so far? That's just a guesstimate.

Just wanted to add - good news for Vereen owners - he looks more explosive when compared to Gray - in the passing game and the running game.

Looks like CHI is just ####ting the bed regardless as to whether their home or away now. I hate that he's so game flow dependent but the upcoming stretch still screams shootout.

3-3-CHI 6 (1:20) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass short left to 34-S.Vereen to CHI 2 for 4 yards

1-2-CHI 2 (:59) (No Huddle) 34-S.Vereen left end to CHI 1 for 1 yard

1-1-CHI 1 (8:41) (No Huddle) 34-S.Vereen right end to CHI 1 for no gain

2-9-CHI 12 (10:48) (Shotgun) 34-S.Vereen right tackle to CHI 9 for 3 yards

3-6-CHI 9 (10:07) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass incomplete short middle to 34-S.Vereen

but he's just a between the 20s guy?

He is a mirage. I think he's going to hurt a lot of teams that will rely on him.
Nope....there are not many rbs that have a better outlook than Vereen in ppr. Is he going to have a monster game every week? No, but he will for certain have a few more monster games this season.
Good luck with him. FBG has a Shane Vereen fetish (PPR top 200 forward, cheatsheets, draft ranking etc.) and I just can't buy into it in that backfield of his.

Yeah. Add in the fact he was not 100% too, he prob would have converted for 1 td. I think gray is going to get his carries, but the redzone carries seem to be split with Vereen also being the 3rd down back. Reminds me of how the colts are using bradshaw

I know that 2 of the carries (from the 2, and from the 1) were a result of NE running a hurry up, trying to catch Chicago unprepared. Vereen was the RB in the game, and therefore, he got the call.

Since I have no idea of what the Patriots are going to do with their RBs in a given week, I won't try to say this means Vereen is or isn't the GL back, but from that game, it was clear that Brady was hurrying the offense in those situations, so they don't really indicate that Vereen is "the man" at the stripe.

I think I said that, or something close to it, in August. And I am pretty sure it took an injury to Ridley to provide all those opportunities that he failed to convert upon.

Not sure what Larry's point is considering Vereen's production has not yet lived up to the hype of this thread.

Atter that showing maybe he'll become a between the 20s guy

Vereen gets looks near the goal line. He did when Ridley was healthy as well. He didn't do anything wrong at the goal line today, there just happened to be someone there to tackle him at/near the 1.

Twice. Less than a yard away.

Which happens to be the hardest way to score.
The hardest way to score? You know I meant a foot away from the opponents endzone, not his own, right? I believe that's one of many spots on the field that might be harder to score from.

Anyway, you misunderstood. The LoS wasn't less than a yard away. He made plays to get that close and got tackled. Just backing up the previous poster about Vereen getting chances to score.

I show him as RB11 in my PPR league for week 9 - hard to see that as anything other than a great week. Not sure what your expectations were.

Anyone else think this could be a big Vereen game with Detroit's pass rush requiring Brady to make a lot of dump passes, etc.? Torn on him, McKinnon, or Gtate at flex.

Yep.

Running the ball against the Motor City Kitties is tough, so this is likely a Vereen-schemed game plan.

With an aggressive pass rush, Brady will have to get the ball out quick, and I'd expect a lot of catches in the flat to Vereen.

On the one hand I agree. On the other, when have any of us ever successfully predicted a "Vereen game" this year? How many people saw the "Gray game" coming last week?

I really cannot bring myself to do it. He has been below average for many, many weeks now. I guess if you are choosing from some weak options it would be a logical choice.
