All that coach speak and talk from Brady in the preseason.

We're going to feed him.

He's a part of every package.

Wtf

We need a Ridley fumble.
a deja-vu is a glitch in the matrix

They're ahead so you're seeing more Ridley. They were behind last week so you saw more Vereen. NE players are always a matchup crapshoot.

I don't think you can explain it away just like that. Ridley was used exclusively from the first snap, and then they got ahead. Last week Vereen was used early and often, before the Pats went down big.

Exactly. Its not like a standard rbbc were both guys play snaps during the game. Its like they choose whether it will be a ridley game or vereen game before the game and then change according to what type of game it is. Thats the frustrating part. The guy can play 75% of snaps or 10% with no middle ground. Meanwhile vereen hasnt done much since week 1 so he looks like an easy drop. Then again i thought PT was a srop this week so wtf do i know. Getting sick of this guessing game with these RBBCs

I'm wondering if this was "Vereen's drive" all along (late in the half) or if something is wrong with Ridley. They were clearly happy pounding Ridley exclusively early on.

Don't even bother trying to decipher it. Just embrace it for what it is.. utterly confusing.

I don't know...to me he is pretty much what I expected. He will get you around 10 - 15 points a week, looks to me like the Pats will be on the upswing too so that is a bonus.

yeah i think it helps vereen alot. regardless of what happened in the game after ridley left. thursday night should be telling though

I own both Vereen and Ridley (or at least I did until about 10 minutes ago; just dropped him in my open-waiver league.)

Before today, I would have absolutely assumed that news like this would send Vereen's value skyrocketing. But now I have no idea what to think. Didn't watch the game, but Rotoworld said Bolden was getting the early-down work. Is that accurate?

Also, if Vereen is going to be the receiving back, shouldn't he, ya know, actually be getting some receptions?

At this point, he had a good (but not great) Week 1 due mostly to his TD, and a good game last week due mostly to garbage time. Not dropping him, but he's on my bench until he shows me more. Thank God Hillman seems to have panned out or I'd be totally screwed for my RB2 slot going forward.

Definitely. Just one of those days where the Pats never trailed. Gotta figure he'll be heavily utilized on a short week with no Ridley.

A ton of his big games last year came after Gronk got hurt, no? Also LaFell is looking like a capable target as well which they didnt have last year.

ONE of those days? Here are Vereen's receiving totals so far this year:

DATE OPP RESULT REC YDS AVG LNG TD Sun 9/7 L 20-33 5 35 7.0 12 0 Sun 9/14 W 30-7 0 0 .0 0 0 Sun 9/21 W 16-9 4 17 4.3 12 0 Mon 9/29 L 14-41 5 41 8.2 28 0 Sun 10/5 W 43-17 3 18 6.0 14 0 Sun 10/12 W 37-22 1 3 3.0 3 0 You're narrowly correct in the sense that he's had his best receiving games during the two Pats losses. But 5/37 in his BEST games is not what people who drafted him in PPR leagues were expecting. If DeMarco or Shady put up a 5/37 at the same time they're rushing for 20/110/2, that's gravy. But this is where Vereen is supposed to be earning his keep.

Something is just off with him this year. It's like Belichik put the whammy on him. He's on my bench until I see the old Vereen.

I'd like to see Vereen's role expanded, especially since Bolden (if he's the next man up) hasn't looked nearly as good as Ridley. I'm not holding my breathe though. It's technically very possible his role remains unchanged.

Well, here is his opportunity. Seems pretty clear that he wasn't going to get anywhere near 80 receptions with Ridley in the lineup but with the injury to Ridley he has a real opportunity to salvage what have been a nightmare season for his owners.

Ridley confirmed torn ACL and MCL, so scratch him off the list. IMO, Vereen's value doesn't change much. Maybe a couple extra carries a game, but still no heavy lifting running the ball. Bolden looks to get the biggest bump as far as I can tell. Maybe White gets a few carries to see what he can do. May mean more passing attempts. Develin may get a couple short yardage attempts a game. I'm still not that enamored with Vereen.

Hopefully Bill remembers the third preseason game as well as I do - that 40 yd wheel TD sure would be nice in a game that counts.

Giddy up!!!

Starting him with confidence tomorrow. I see a floor of about 13 points.
I see a floor of 2.

Belichick keeps a rug under all his players, his hand firmly gripped and ready to pull it out from under them at any moment. He even screws with the IDP side of things constantly.

I pretty much agree. But on a short week and vereen being the most trusted option I bet he has his best game of the season. Which isnt really saying much. Prob around 10 to 15 pts. Moving forward who knows but the matchup tonight doesnt hurt either.

Count me as one who had really high hopes for Vereen this season and is close to dropping him - or trading him for whatever I can get, - but this week decided to wait one more week since I think with Ridley out, I think Belichik leans a little more heavily on the veteran Vereen on a short work week. We'll see. If he doesn't produce tonight, he won't be on my roster by next week.

FWIW, somehow I just managed to trade Vereen & storm johnson for Edelman & Branden Oliver in redraft-- owner was buying way into the vereen is the lead back now with ridley out.

In PPR, he's gone 17, 4, 7, 11, 13, 1. I think he's still that guy we hoped he was, but BB's use of him is almost as mind-boggling as Spiller's situation. Week 5 he was 9-90 and looked like a monster.....week 6 he can barely get a friggin' touch even after Ridley goes down. I don't get it.

Could be a sell high week for Vereen. If he plays well this week, may be a good time to move him.
I disagree. If he is used more, he'll be a good hold. If not, I don't think anyone will be buying him high. IMO it's going to come down to usage more than performance.

Agree, hes been producing with the touches hes getting - he just hasn't been getting ton of looks.
