Shannon Sharpe show on NFL Network (1 Viewer)

It's worth watching-with what both brothers went through to get to the NFL. Both were born in Chicago but grew up in a shack in Georgia with their grandmother and many other relatives.

No running water - bathroom in the woods. They saw that as being normal and didn't complain too much about it.

Tough that his grandmother died recently, before being inducted.

Shannon is too big a loudmouth for me to watch now but was good in this show.

Interesting show.

Thanks... he was just on talking with Mooch, Rich and Irvin about his Grandma and his Bro and his speech tomorrow. Super emotional.

OK, call me callous, but I sensed something kind of strange between the brothers. It is almost as if Sterling is condescending toward Shannon, not athletically, but intellectually. Some of the things Sterling said had me shaking my head. Something like, the fact that his grandmother would not be there to hear Shannon thank her for everything... to me was rude. Shannon thinks she WILL be there (in heaven?) listening. There seems to be something strange between them, that is all I am saying. Whatever.

I found the show compelling! The contrast between the heartfelt family connections of the Sharpes, contrasted with Deion Sanders' flash and splash, says much about the depth of character of the Sharpes and that of 'Prime Time." Love the Sharpes! Sanders, although an amazing athlete, he is shallow by comparison!

Oh, and the hilarious ending when Shannon says, "I think I am gonna be alright... right up to the part when I get to her (grandma). Then it's gonna get emotional...." What a classic understatement. I wonder if he'll even be able to get through it without collapsing in tears on the stage! Love the guy though. Clearly wears his heart on his sleeve! And what a great TE he was!!

The relationship between the two seems to be as much father figure like (Sterling to Shannon) as brother-to-brother. That seemed to be touched on during the show. Also, Sterling's sit-down interviews seemed to take place on the same day he was roaming around the old house, which would seem to intimate that they had one day with Sterling to interview and get shots with him. Shannon though wore two different shirts. And when they interviewed him, it was the day after Granny passed. So it's possible that Shannon was extremely emotional during his sit downs, where Sterling may have been interviewed at a separate time, when the emotions were less raw.

Yea, I also found it kind of strange. Shannon just gets done saying how he feels that his grandmother passing when she did was done in a sort of intentional way for her to be there with him in spirit (literally) because it was going to be impossible for her to be there in the flesh. That was really moving and a nice way to frame it.... then they cut right to Sterling saying how Shannon never got to say how much she meant and that she'll never get to hear it and that it'll weigh heavily on him (or something like that). Ouch. Definitely not on the same page there... but other than that they seemed like good, close bros to me... no animosities at all... Sterling is proud his lil bro made the HOF and Shannon says he'll be the only one in there who's the 2nd best football player in his family. get your tissues ready!
