Shark Pool Board Mock Draft - Version 1 (1 Viewer)

Like I said I wanted Kuechly and was talking about trading up to get him when trades were allowed. The linebackers are horrid, they need some talent.
The Eagles draft a LB in the 1st? Come on. They'll draft a Lineman or trade out of the 1st.

With the 14th pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:

Alfonzo Denard, CB, Nebraska

Defense is a definite need for the 'Boys, especially corner and pass rusher- and with most of the rest of the interior linemen we are interested in probably being there in the middle of the second round, we decide to pull the trigger on a physical and athletic corner to begin to shore up this defense. We address a need and don't overpay for an interior lineman.
I say Brockers and you give us Dennard? I would take Jenkins over Dennard.Dallas has a short window with Romo, Witten and few other players getting up there. They dont have time to be messing with a rookie CB who needs to hit the ground running.

They likely sign a FA corner and focus on generating more pressure up front.

O-line or D-line are the priorities imo.
Jerrah says there will be new faces in the secondary...
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted Monday LCB Terence Newman will likely be released.

"In the secondary, I think we’ll get better," Jones said. "We’ll very likely have new faces over there. How many, I can’t tell you. But I know we’ll have some new faces." The Cowboys can free up $4 million in cap space by releasing Newman before June 1, and $6 million if they can wait until June. Newman was absolutely brutal in coverage this season, and graded out as one of the league's worst cornerbacks by Pro Football Focus.

Maybe Defenisive lineman, I could see it. You are right they never do draft linebacker first but it's the position that has the worst talent on the team. After having a little more time to read up on Vontae he had a subpar junior season after having a break out sophmore year so I probably messed that pick up. Guess that's why I am not an NFL GM. and if I could trade back I would. I was in talks to move up when we first started the draft. I was strapped at picking someone there. I went with need.

Via email, the Jets select1.16 - Michael Floyd - WR, Notre DameNo explanation given, but I like it. I think the kid is pretty good and given that the Plaxico experiment failed and Santonio Holmes could melt down at any minute makes this a decent pick.
Thanks Andy. Team needs playmakers on offense. Let Rex coach up the defense and give Sanchez and the new coordinator another toy to play with.

1.18 - Melvin Ingram, OLB - South Carolina

They got nothing from Larry English after taking him in the 1st a couple years back. They hope this makes amends.

Ok, guys I had as possibilities here are flying off the board. Floyd for obvious reasons...although we need to be agressive in FA for a legit, veteran guy like Bowe, VJax, or Colston. Ingram was high on my list. I would love to add another pass rusher on the outside to Peppers and Idonije. I love what the Giants have done for yrs with their trio of ends. The top o-linemen will be gone as we have seen here.

So with the 19th pick, the Bears select DEVON STILL, DT PENN ST

We need a NT upgrade from Adams and Toeina. Melton and Paea look like they will be very good at the other DT spot which is basically a pass rusher. So here is to hoping Still be a force stopping the run and a big body to keep blockers off Urlacher and Briggs.

solid pick that should help keep Peppers from being double teamed as much too.

Gotta think Chicago is scrambling a bit after seeing Floyd go to the Jets.
Def threw me off a little bit. He was the clear top choice
I think this would have been a great spot to move up with Philly. Like you said though if you can land a quality FA WR then this looks like quite the steal. Chicago and Carolina should be pursuing the FA market pretty hard.

I PM'd Rizzler earlier today but have not seen him on. If we get to a point where you guys want to go forward and I'll help out here.

With the no22 pick, The Browns select Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

ballsy, I know... But we need offense, if we are "sticking" with mccoy... so, heres ANOTHER wr for him to prove himself with

With the 23rd pick the Detroit Lions select, Mark Barron, SS, Alabama

Detroit has a great front 4 but needs playmakers in the secondary. The Amari Spievey Project needs to be shut down and Barron can start right away, alongside Delmas. Barron offers the Lions a solid all around safety with size and coverage skills, a department Delmas is lacking in. Barron was the BPA on Detroit's board at this pick.

Also considered Zach Brown and Mike Adams.

ETA: Honolulu Blue

I don't get it. You bypassed RG3 for defense & then succumbed to your emotions & got us a second round wr. I expect Heckert to pick a DE, OT, or S here.

Was hoping Barron might fall to the Vikes' 2nd pick.
Is that a subtle slam on my 1st round choice?
No.
OK. Just thought since that would be 12 picks away yet, you maybe believed he wasn't 1st round material.
Not at all. Safeties just seem to be the one position that's valued less than RBs in today's NFL draft. No question the Lions could use the best one on the board.

I agree that we need to start acquiring weapons on offense but I have to agree with Dave here. there is tremendous value on the board right now for front 7 type players. Nick Perry USC, Mercilus Whitney Ill, Andre Branch Clem at DE...Courtney Upshaw AlaMichael Brockers LSU , Fletcher Cox at DTSteinbech's health is a big concern coming off Injury and with Cordy Glenn still available would have been a great pick. Glenn, Brockers, Branch or Upshaw would have been my selection order.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS - 1.24 Michael Brockers - DT/NT - LSU

Had to go with the best players available for the Steelers, fills an immediate need at defensive line, and depending on how Brockers develops he could play inside at NT or DE (with Ziggy or Heyward moving to NT).

I also considered: G Cordy Glenn (UGA) and ILB Dont'a Hightower (ALA)
