Shark Pool Mock #2 - "What teams WILL do" - Spots open. (1 Viewer)

I actually think the BPA right now is a safety.Miami Dolphins select S Eric Reid at 2.54A very athletic safety that some have as high as the first round. The Dolphins don't have the best starters at safety or any depth really. Reid should be able to displace Clemons and start during this season. Joins Trufant to make this secondary much stronger and talented. I could see DE or TE being picked here as well.
2.55

Green Bay selections Jonathan Hankins DT Ohio State

With Pickett being 33 and Worthy injuring his ACL late in the season Dline is definitely an area of need. Debated hard between Hankins and Jenkins but with with Hankins due to his versatility. Capers seems to like those guys that can either play inside or out. Hankins fills a huge need for the Packers.
Damn you guys are killing my draft board right now. The Real 49ers will be moving up in the 2nd to get one of these guys, especially Williams and Reid.

To be 100% honest, I at least partially passed on Reid because I don't think he'll be there.
that's the interesting part of this draft. If we're trying to make the pick we think our team will, we have to presume a player who is falling for no reason might be taken in the real draft.

I think Datone Jones will be long gone by pick 2.40 but if he fell, the Titans should take him. For the real thing, I think they'd take Kyle Long or Warford if we don't grab Cooper or Warmack at 1.10.

So I'm trying to put together a "final" mock draft of my own but am about to give up. The 3/4/5 picks are impossible to get a handle on this year.

2.57 Houston Selects Terrance Williams WR Baylor

Houston needs to fill some spots next to Andre the giant; and Derek Williams fits the bill. If he is still here in the late second Houston would be thrilled to pick him up.

Hey guys it'd be really helpful if you posted the team name along with the pick number. Just helps to figure out who went where/what is going on.

2..59 - New England - John Jenkins, DT - Georgia

2.60 - Atlanta - Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB - Auburn

I think Atlanta would love Lemonier since he fits into their diverse scheme quite well.

Even though he's on the downside, Atlanta signing Osi takes the edge off their DE situation a bit.

I have them taking Hayden here but from the sounds of it he's going to go a lot higher than people think. But if it worked out this way then the Falcons' defense is starting to shape up a bit.

FWIW, Walterfootball has him going at pick 34

34. San Francisco 49ers: D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston

Teams are always looking for cornerback depth, especially if they have extra picks. Besides, Carlos Rogers didn't play as well this past season. He was solid at times, but was inconsistent.

I think Hayden should be SF's pick here. Which is somewhat ironic, as Walter has them taking Hayden at 34 and Hunt here; opposite of what we have, but same two guys.

SF really wanted Williams here. In the real NFL draft, we will be moving up, especially with the offer I dangled out there 3 times. I get that you mockers wanted to make your picks though

I'm going to go value here. I'd prefer DL, I think a pass rushing LB prospect would be nice, and secondary help is good too. I don't see CB as a huge need. Tarek played well, Rogers is above average, Culliver (sans playoffs) was solid, and I think Asomaugh is in for a rebound.

I think we once again go with biggest upside.

2.31 SF selects Jamie Collins, SoMiss, OLB.

We have no depth at rush backer after Brooks and Smith. My boy Parys is a solid run stopper, but he's no threat to the QB anymore. This is about BPA and drafting another guy to get to the QB. Can't have enough pass rushers.

Freak athlete with unlimited potential

Hopefully teams reach like this in the real draft (they usually do) and the Ravens can continue to watch as top-tier talent slides right to them.

With the final pick of Round 2 (2.62), the Baltimore Ravens select Quinton Patton, WR Louisiana Tech.

Obviously by parting with Boldin the Ravens have committed to getting younger at the position, and there isn't much on the roster right now. I think they'd be thrilled to get a guy like Patton who can give them a similarly reliable presense on the outside. His 0.9 drop percentage (best of all rookies) will make him a favorite for Flacco.

3.63 - Kansas City - Matt Barkley, QB - USC

Reid loves to stockpile QBs and at this point he has to take Barkley. Smith is no spring chicken. Barkley has been unfairly picked to pieces.

Jacksonville has got to take Barkley here. We've whiffed on him I think. I think he's a late 1st/early 2nd pick.

In fact, I'm changing the Chiefs pick to take Barkley.

Jags select Tyler Wilson. I know I said stick with what you got but I think the Jags will take a QB at some point in this draft. Maybe the 3rd round is too early or too late who knows.

Pass rusher... D Moore?
Well, Jshare87 had them take Dion Jordan at #2. That's not to say they couldn't use another.

But their CB corps is in shambles. Could possibly take a QB like Wilson or Glennon here.
Wilson seems okay, I'm not a fan but he sort of works.

Ravens offer 2014 2nd round pick and 4.129 to whomever is on the clock.

Or 3.94, 4.129, and 5.165

Whichever you prefer...

Lions have addressed two of their top needs with Fisher and Okafor.

Amerson could play corner or Safety. But is there a better cover corner available?

unless he's taken, the Titans 3.70 is written in stone. Might even trade up, but I want to see if our guy falls.

Anyone interested in trading down let me know. Ravens have several extra picks in this draft and are looking to move up.

3.66 - Oakland Raiders - Demontre Moore DE Texas A&M

The Raiders gutted their defense this year including their defensive line. Losing Desmond Bryant, Matt Shaugnessy, Tommy Kelly, & Richard Seymour.

With this pick the Raiders will continue to build their defensive line. The Raiders were next to the worst team in getting sacks. With the additions of Sharrif Floyd and now Demontre Moore hopefully that will be improved upon this year.

The Raiders also considered a CB, OL, TE, & FS here but fixing that defensive line to get after the QB is a huge priorty for the Raiders.

Raiders Draft:

1.03 Sharrif Floyd DT Florida

3.66 Demontre Moore DE Texas A&M

Fantasy footballers wouldn't like this pick, but if the Eagles want to run around the field like it sounds they do, this shores up a weak (IMO) depth chart at the position.

3.77 - Philadelphia - Giovanni Bernard, RB - UNC

Has DaMontre Moore really fallen this far? Wow. What happened?
I think he slipped under the cracks in this draft but will very-likely be taken higher in the real NFL draft.

Cleveland would have pounced if he wasn't taken but in real life its highly-unlikely he'll be there in the third round.

I think they might take a RB, just don't see taking one this high. But then, if Gio slips to here he is value.ETA: would have gone Bakhtiari, but it's your team.

With their third round selection (68th overall pick) the Cleveland Browns select

OG Larry Warford, Kentucky

Browns starting LOG Jason Pinkston was recently medically cleared from blood clots found on his lungs but he wasn't practicing with the club. The other OG Shaun Lauvau is limited athletically and gets beaten by athletic DTs/NTs and the AFCN has some great DTs/NTs, Geno Smith, Halati Ngata.

Warford was my highest ranked player left and fits a need.

 That makes zero sense.
Not if you get out of the "what's the biggest need and who is the player that best fits it" mode.

LeSean McCoy said Chip Kelly's offense "is like a freaking track meet."

"You’re going to need another back in this offense," said McCoy. "I think any back, no matter how great of shape he’s in, is going to need some extra help...It’s like a relay. You need extra guys." McCoy also said that the Eagles are getting off double the amount of reps in practice than they had in the past. It's yet to be determined how much Kelly's offense will resemble its Oregon incarnation, though it's sounding like the pace will be very similar.
