Shark Pool Mock #2 - "What teams WILL do" - Spots open. (1 Viewer)

It's hard to be upset with Richardson, but have a preference for Cooper.
My personal preference would have been Cooper too. I just think Dallas would go Richardson, given the choice.
I am starting to feel better that there will be a quality player at 18 that will fill a team need.
I think a lot will depend on how many QBs go early. If a couple go, then Dallas should get some guys high on their list. If no QBs go, then they likely will be far down their list.

With the 25th pick the Minnesota Vikings select:

Sylvester Williams, DT UNC

Have seen a lot of mocks that have the Vikings recreating the Williams Wall. Don't know much about him, but it fits a need. I highlighted what I wanted to do earlier. Could Spielman be that in love with Notre Dame and possibly pair Rudolph with Eifert at TE? Could they play together ie Gronk and Hernandez?

Brady and I were discussing a trade. The deal would have been a swap of firsts for Atlanta's 3rd and 5th. While that would be the right value, the more I think about it, they're probably looking to move much higher up than that and get a CB. So I'm going to stand pat for now.

If they trade up, it's likely to me that it's for either Milliner or Trufant.
Trufant is the one name I don't agree with at all for where he went.

I am not sure his name will get called in the first round.

Seemed like a reach and the more I look at that pick its like nails on a chalkboard. It doesn't seem to fit for a top-twelve pick to me.
:kicksrock:

Miami needs a CB and he fits better than Rhodes, who didn't even make it to them.

Over Cordarelle? Interesting. Why do you think Patterson's stock is dropping?
He runs terrible routes, catches with his body, and has had really bad interviews.

I think he'd be the #4 choice for the Colts behind Hopkins, Allen, and Woods.
All correctable and he rarely body catches. I'm still not convinced he will fall. I mean Harvin reportedly spreewelled his coach and teams were willing to take him in the 20's.

Nice job 8ebok24! I think this is just what the Vikes will do - take two defensive players in the 1st. And I think it might be these exact players.

Okay, well he's not a hands catcher and he fights the ball way too often.

No idea on Packers. Margus Hunt? Nobody is bolded so I think we're up for suggestions.
Hearing Eddie Lacy a lot here, but it's not very Packer-like to burn a 1st on a RB.
I would hate that pick. He did nothing to improve his stock in the end. They can get a RB later. I like the trade down the most but can they pass on Patterson if he is value. In the end though I think I lean towards Datone Jones with this pick. Seems to fit. Carridine might also. Dont really like the rush LB at this spot. Could go an Arthur Brown also. S like Cyprien. Many directions to go other than RB here

Agreed.

As a note, if the Rams did do the trade down from 22 to 30 with Atlanta, I would have likely gone with Lacy or a safety at 30.

This is from Pipes...

1.26 - Jonathan Cyprien, SS - FIU

He should be around in the next 30 minutes to explain why. I like it.
I'm hearing alot of RB, WR and TE talk but the fact is GB's season ended the last 2 years because of their defense. Yes they need to address those positions but that defense needs an upgrade. I was torn between D line and Safety here but went safety for a couple of reasons. Many people thought the defense suffered with the loss of Cullen Jenkins and while I think they did the bigger loss was Nick Collins. Cyprien brings that potential with his size, speed, athleticism and toughness. To me the Packers biggest issue on defense is toughness especially in the secondary. The Packers may have the worst tackling secondary in the league and now with Woodson gone it will be even worse. Cyprien brings that athletic ability and toughness the Packers need on the back end. I don't think anyone in their secondary tackled Adrian Peterson last year. While Elam may be a little better hitter that Cyprien, Cyprien's size and athleticism is what makes him the Packer's pick. The Pack with live with the occasional coverage breakdown that Cyprien may have as he goes through the growing pains. That secondary needs an attitude adjustment and Cyprien's the guy to bring some physicality to the back end of the Packers' defense.

This draft has a ton of Dline depth and that position will definitely be addressed at some point in the draft.

1.27 Houston Selects Arthur Brown LB - Kansas St

Houston badly needs another Inside LB, Brown is a guy who can not only excel inside, but with his coverage skills and athleticism start right away in nickle packages as well. I don't believe in Patterson personally, and think amongst the rest of the WR's here there is enough depth that in the second round we can get one of 4-6 guys who are closely rated to fill that need.

Was hoping to get Austin here like I did in the first draft; but now that the ESPN hype train has had time to gain steam its no longer possible...

Who was the target with this offer

Houston offers 1st (27) 3rd (89) and 2014 2nd for this spot. :)

Just read about the hotel room trashed at the combine...anyone know which two players were in that room? The article said one was a possible 1st round pick...

New England's pick is pretty easy according to the ripples...

1.29 - Jamar Taylor, CB - Boise St.

And with that, the Falcons' pick is made for them through process of elimination (even though I'd like to see Eifert go here)

1.30 - D.J. Hayden, CB - Houston

I could see SF going a lot of directions here. Lacy, Moore, Elam, Jessie Williams all seem to be good values at need positions.

1.31 SF picks Cordarrelle Patterson

Dude supposedly absolutely tanked his team interviews and also trashed his hotel room at the Combine.

He's also the most talented WR in this class, #8 on Gil Brandt's big board, and is going into a veteran team that will give him the structure he needs. Elite talent at 31. Hell yes.

Since I pick again in 3 picks, I will still get a talented Dude, but this elite guy would have gone next to those cheating bastards in Baltimore

In Peter King’s most recent article, he lets us know Jim Harbaugh has been at “a high number of receiver workouts” before this year’s draft. King cites an unnamed NFL G.M., who says this: ‘This isn’t about 2013 for the Niners. Harbaugh knows he’ll be there for a while. They just lost Randy Moss, and Anquan Boldin is there for a year, and they don’t know about A.J. Jenkins. Receiver’s very logical for them there.”

The 49ers have met with West Virginia’s Tavon Austin, Cal’s Keenan Allen, Louisiana Tech’s Quinton Patton and USC’s Robert Woods according to Walterfootball.

King speculates Tennessee’s Cordarrelle Patterson would fit well with the 49ers.

I have no idea how they score the picks, but it's kind of fun.
I have done several of these. The trades they offer are usually pretty ridiculous, but if you take a bunch of trades it seems to hurt your score, even if they're 1 sided in your favor.

If you just stand pat and make logical selections you can get A,A in the 4k range, but I have no idea how some guys got in the 5Ks.

1.32 Baltimore Ravens select Kevin Minter, LB

No-brainer here. Obviously with Lewis retiring they need someone to step in. I think Minter could be a better pro than Te'o.

I don't think I have seen a mock with 5CBs in the first round, but I'm glad I grabbed one if that is going to happen.

You haven't seen a mock with 5 CBs taken in the first round and I don't think anyone else has from a credible mock.

It probably isn't going to happen and I am not sure Milliner goes as high as #6 or that we'll a run on corners till the second round.

Nice to see someone in Florida still believes in Blaine Gabbert.
Haha no way I still believe in Gabbert. 2 great qbs coming out next year. Might as well stick with the garbage you have and build the rest of the team. I don't think any qb in the draft is a solution for the next 10 to 15 years. Gotta go with BPA at this point.
