Shark Pool Mock Draft - #1 (1 Viewer)

#39 Jonathan Cyprien S FIU

LaRon Landry and Yeremiah Bell will be free agents. Landry said he won’t take a discount to stay with the Jets & Bell is 35 . The Jets have needs all over the place ,the obvious offensive problems and a replacement for Pouha on the DL but by taking Cyprien the Jets add another dynamic defender that can make an impact.

Strongly considered

Eifert here.

So FUBAR was here and then left again. Man I hate that. But I still like FUBAR. Let's move this along...2.9 - Tennessee - Kawann Short, DT - Purdue

The draft is going at a pretty good clip.

Thefirst day we got in 16 picks, yesterday we finished the first round and got in a couple of second round picks in and today we're already on the tenth pick of the second round and we're already had a trade and its still early.

Should be pretty easy for Miami here:

Either Robert Woods or Justin Hunter
Rumor has it that they're the favorites to sign Mike Wallace. If so, I would think that would preclude using an early pick on WR - not that they couldn't use another, but if they're going to pay Wallace the $60 or so million he wants over 5 years, I would think they'd be looking more for a complementary receiver later on and addressing more pressing needs with this pick.

this mock has lost some of its luster with the Alex Smith trade news, with Andy selecting Barkley and what not. LOL

Miami needs more than Mike Wallace to improve their WR corps.
Sure they do. But they need to improve other places as well, I would think they'd look elsewhere in the top 50 if they sign Wallace. Also, they'd probably be looking for a slot guy/complementary rather than a pure SE.

"San Francisco has one of the best defenses in the league, but some of their weaknesses in coverage were exposed in the 2012 NFL playoffs. Banks is a tall, ballhawking corner with the potential to contribute early and often." The Niners can keep beefing up their secondary and making sure they're prepared in case Chris Culliver's offseason carries over into 2013. With the Dline depth addressed already (it was apparent that our defense just wasn't the same once Justin Smith was injured) Niners look for a difference maker at DB that can possibly be moved to Safety. Despite making the pro-bowl, Whitener surrendered more TDs then any safety.

Davone Bess isn't good enough to be a slot guy?
Sure. But I think if they signed Wallace, they might be looking more for a guy like Patton, who's a great route runner/hands guy that can contribute right away rather than a developmental "#1 WR." Woods wouldn't be a bad pick for that role, Hunter not so much, IMO.

Trades are difficult to keep track of but I think this is correct.

Also those TEs HAVE to start flying off the board by now. Way too much value IMHO.

This is why I was trying to trade down. I think I could have snagged a very capable pass rusher at #30 and there are probably 5 guys I'd love to have at this point and I'm only going to get one of them rather than 2.

Give me DeAndre Hopkins in that role over Woods/Patton. Hunter was more of a possession WR this past year in Tennessee, very low YPC.

Really wanted Cyprien there. Plenty of similar pass catchers available. Hence, the trade down for more ammo

Hopkins too. Hunter may have had a low ypc, but his strongest attributes are his size/speed/jumping measurables and upside. A team taking him high has visions of A.J. Green in their heads. His weaknesses are hands and route running, which happen to mirror Wallace's deficiencies. I feel like those two are redundant.Hopkins/Patton/Woods are more 4.5 guys that catch everything. You need a guy like that opposite Wallace. However, I think there are a handful of these guys that could be available in the 3rd round, which is why I said if they sign Wallace, I feel like an early 2nd round pick might be better spent elsewhere. Just one man's opinion.

I agree with you, just a little prospect talk. WR is deep this year, they could grab a Cobi Hamilton in the 4th and still be okay IMO.

Tampa= Tyler Eifert
I like the pick. Give Josh Freeman another weapon. Plus Eifert is a steal here in the mid 2nd round.I thought Miami might have drafted him to give their young QB a weapon but then Miami traded the pick away.

44. Houston Selects: "BIG" John Jenkins - NT UGA

We moved up here and landed the guy we coveted.

At 6-4 360 Jenkins will be the true anchor that the Texans have needed up the middle. Jenkins is a top run stuffer who for a man of his size is also surprisingly light on his feet.

This will allow Shaun Cody's heath/FA issues to be a non factor. This will also allow Earl Mitchel to potentially shift to the DE spot in our 3-4 base (making the potential loss of Antonio Smith as a cap casualty not as big an issue), and rotate inside as the DT in the Nickle/Dime.

Jenkins will often command double teams, most teams are probably going to want to double team JJ Watt as well; this is a simple numbers game and the end result is the Houston LB's should have a lot of lanes to attack in the pass rush. I think this will make one of the best young D's in the league even more potent.

Scouting Report:

Massive two-gap NT with wide trunk. Has adequate-to-good initial quickness and body control for size. Usually gets into good initial position. Has tree trunks for arms and flashes ability to lock out. Must continue to improve hand usage, though. Will flash ability to shed quickly and make tackles in confined area (3:21 remaining 2nd QTR vs. GTU 2011). Also makes some plays in pursuit.

Pass Rush Skills will never be an area of strength but does show the combination of short-area quickness, power and closing burst (for size) to contribute.

Above average foot quickness for such a massive DL. Quicker and more athletic than fellow NT prospect Kwame Geathers. Has a quick first step. Shows adequate lateral agility. Feet are quicker than hands. Needs to be more violent and efficient with hands.

Will wear down a bit during course of game but plays with a solid motor for a 330-plus pound DL. Will pursue downfield. Shows a mean streak.

Other considerations: Kevin Minter; Zach Ertz.

So I just got back from lunch...The Chiefs gave their SECOND round pick this year AND a conditional next?Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. :lmao:

Matt Barkley value > Alex Smith value. Seems like the Chiefs overpaid by about a round or so. Although, QB trades usually involve a fleecing.I think Nassib is unimpressive, and I don't get the hype. There are better QBs than him that still haven't been drafted. Still a ton of value left at WR. Eifert is a nice fit for TB.

45 San Diego: Dallas Thomas, OG - TennesseeReally wanted to trade up for Johnthan Banks but will settle for the versatile guard out of Tennessee who will hopefully be Louis Vasquez's complement and not his replacement.Others considered: Jordan Poyer, Barrett Jones, Terron ArmsteadRams on the clock
