Shark Pool Mock Draft - #1 (3 Viewers)

I think they look better, but I highly doubt a G goes 1st overall. I think if the Chiefs were serious about this they would try to trade down, and ultimately I think that will be very difficult in this draft with no clear-cut QB favorite.
Compare Joeckel/Albert versus Albert/Warmack at the LT/LG positions.I think the Albert/Warmack combo is better than Joeckel/Albert even though you're "supposed" to take the LT first. The draft is about making your team better. Or at least it should be.
Albert won't go back to Guard I heard.

Right, which is another reason to not take Joeckel.

Agreed. At the same time it's also about taking the right value (and yes, I'm particularly aware that my Sylvester Williams pick doesn't seem like good value). I also don't discount the peer pressure to conform on a top pick. Nobody would fault KC for picking a QB 1st overall even if he didn't pan out. Everyone would scream at the top of their lungs if KC picked a G 1st overall and he didn't pan out. As a matter of fact, he would probably have to be a perennial probowler for people to not think it was a mistake.Fair? No. Reality? Probably.

Exactly. Getting Alex Smith also shows Andy Reid wants to win now. Getting rid of Albert and drafting Joeckel is a minimal gain to a team. However, drafting Warmack and resigning Albert greatly improves the team. Plus A. Smith will need a good OL in front of him.

To keep track of the time of the last pick and to carry forward the draft board from the previous page.

This is the time of the last pick by Jacksonville.

I PM'd a short list of players to Andy if the Raiders pick comes up and I'm not on. Feel free to PM both of us and keep this draft moving.

I will be out tomorrow, so if the titans pick comes, take the best OL if one worth taking is there.

This has screached to a stop.
Someone needs to make a pick for the Lions. I have been sitting here with the Raiders pick since last night ready to go.
Oakland has only had one pick and they have been waiting. Cleveland, the team I selecting for, has only had one pick and we are waiting.Detroit has had more than enough time.

Are their ANY LIONS FANS OUT THERE?

Somebody take a look at that team and if you don't know who they might take you can at least give us a good idea of what positions you could use.

Here are the picks already made by the Lions in this mock:

Giovani Bernard, RB - North Carolina - Luke Joeckel, OT - Texas A&M

Detroit got a great left tackle and a decent RB prospect.

Any Lions fans out there who want to make this pick?

With the 4th pick in the 3rd round the Oakland Raiders select:

3.66 Kyle Long OT Oregon

The Raiders could go a number of directions with this pick including, CB, DE, MLB, and OL.

In the end I decided to go with a tackle. Finally the Raiders find the player to replace Khalif "false start" Barnes.

Kyle long also has some versatility in the fact that he played guard at Oregon though he is projected to be a OT in the NFL.

So far:

1.03 Shariff Floyd DT Florida

3.66 Kyle Long OT Oregon

Very good pick. He was sticking out there like a sore thumb IMHO.

Agreed, I like him more as a Tackle prospect than a Guard.

Yea I expected him to go in the second round even though I was hoping he would fall to me in the third. Another legacy on the Raiders offenive line to go with Wisniewski.

You're kidding me?Wow, I didn't know Howie had another kid but that would be amazing if it actually happens in the draft.

Worked out well with Steve Wiznewski's kid for the Raiders.

The Bucs are willing to trade their 4th round pick (123 overall) and next years 2nd round pick, for an early 3rd rounder.

If Philly takes my guy then I'll make the trade but I don't think they want the player I want so I will likely make my pick once that pick is made.

Ok, sounds good. I'll hang around to see if you want to do it. Hopefully we aren't after the same player.
I dunno and won't say much about the guy I want other than I don't think he would be there in the fourth round but he was expected to go somewhere around where I'm currently picking.FWIW Kyle Long was rated higher than the guy I want so originally I probably would have taken him if my guy was gone so I think that was a really good pick by the Raiders.

I think we might have to narrow the window down to one hour to make a pick. I hate to see this lose steam.
Slider has been pretty good about checking in and I saw an Eagles fan here a few minutes ago so if Slider isn't around then maybe ask in the Eagles thread if anyone would like to make the pick or at least narrow down the pick to a couple of positions that the Eagles could use but I'm sure Slider would want to make the pick, he did check in and was waiting last night.

I'd like Slider to make the pick. I guess I just get antsy. My guess is this guy:

Brandon Williams DT Missouri Southern State Only the 3rd three-time all-american at his level of competition. If the Eagles are going to go to the 3-4, they need a nose tackle and this guy should fill that spot.

I think you have the position nailed. That is by far their highest need without question AFIC.

Well, we'll just go with that I guess...3.67 - Philadelphia - Brandon Williams, DT - Missouri Southern State OverviewThree-time All-Americans are rare at any level of football. Williams was one to accomplish that feat. The Associated Press placed Williams on one of their three Little All-American teams (third in 2010, second in 2011, first in 2012) as one of the top players in Division II, III, or NAIA.Williams showed glimpses of talent while playing every game as a true freshman for the Lions, starting three contests and making 38 tackles, three for loss and 1.5 sacks. He missed the 2009 season due to an injury, but exploded on the scene as a redshirt sophomore, earning those All-American honors and first-team All-MIAA accolades with 50 stops, 17 for loss, and nine sacks despite starting just the final seven games after starting the year coming off the bench. He started nine of the team’s 10 games in 2011, racking up 16 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Williams has also tipped 12 passes at the line during his first three seasons. In 2012, Williams was named the MIAA defensive player of the year with 68 tackles (16.5 for loss), 8.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles.AnalysisStrengths Presents a low center of gravity and strong upper body to push consistently push man-up blockers into the backfield. Gets hands on his man fast, extends his arm to get leverage and can hold his ground. Uses his hands to swim or rip past blockers into the backfield. Also wins gaps by attacking a shoulder or out-quicking his man with a first step. Moves down the line adeptly while engaged to flow with plays. Flashes the agility to jump over trash inside and move well in a stand-up rush position despite his thick lower body. Directs teammates on their responsibilities before the snap. Lines up at five-technique, nose and everywhere in-between. Weaknesses Doesn’t make a lot of plays outside the box because of average effort and closing speed. Inconsistent at finding the ball, lowers his head at times trying to win gaps, allowing himself to get ridden out of plays. Slow to spin off blocks, and double-teams can move him. Must prove himself against stronger linemen, also that he has the stamina to be more than a rotational player. NFL Comparison Brandon Thompson Bottom Line Williams became a three-time All-American as a senior, using a combination of strength and agility not usually seen at the Division II. He doesn't have nearly the same skills as someone like Dontari Poe, but has enough talent to be at least a solid rotational tackle who could stick in the league for a while.

68. Cleveland Browns select

DE Margus Hunt, SMU

6'8 1/8" Height

277 LBS. Weight

Can play five-tech and has enough size to man 3-4 DE but has speed/athleticism to rush the passer and be highly disruptive..

At the combine he smoked a 4.6 forty, had an amazing 38 reps on the bench which is super impressive with a guy with arms as long as he has, and he also had a 34. 5 inch verticle on top of his 6.8 1/1 frame which means he can sky.

(He blocked an NCAA record 10 field goals.)

NFL Comparison Calais Campbell

Browns have Billy Wynn as one 3-4 DE but on the other side they can use someone else. Also Hunt is very effective as a pass rusher when moved inside and he also has dropped off in coverage.

I really like him and think he'll go higher in the real NFL draft.

I like that pick Bracie.I sent a message to ebaughn to see if he wants to make the Cardinals' 3rd rounder. He skipped the 2nd but I thought I'd give him the chance. I'll give it an hour.

Nice pick. Hunt is exactly who the Bucs were looking to trade up for.
 I wasn't sure who you were after and he can also play 3-tech 4-3 DE so I figured you could have also been after him considering D'Quan Bowers hand gun issue. He was the highest guy left on my board by far.You made a solid offer but I haven't seen anyone like Hunt so I'll be interested to see how he'll turn out as an NFL player whether or not he winds up on the Browns. Also I check out that link by Andy. Using our draft as a guide, Hunt was one of the highest rated players left so I feel good about the pick.

Sorry about that.

Oh, yeah I missed that. Well, those guys and 1 or 2 more being available after Cle, Oak, Phi & Jax have picked 3 times is shocking.
