Shark Pool mock draft - three rounds. Draft started (1 Viewer)

Just kidding. Actually, Dallas trades the #22 pick to Chicago for the rights to the Bears' second round pick #44 and next year's #1 pick.
The Bears normally trade OUT of the first rather than give up picks to move up. But, what the heck. This is just for fun anyway. I'm predicting a quarterback.
I'm holding out hope for a RB :crossesfingers:
Giving up those picks to take a RB would be beyond dumb.
Yeah, but I can't watch another season of this garbage.

Dallas considered Ocho Cinco. But the salary cap implications coupled with the potential for a colossal meltdown when combined with TO just was too great of a risk.

Instead, Dallas chose to "roll over" the extra first rounder for another year, picking up a mid-second for their trouble. Dallas still has #28 and now 2 second rounders. Having 28 available really provided the freedom to make this move. Dallas will still get an excellent player at 28. There are about 6-7 that I have rated about equal right now.

Fubar are you shocked you pulled off the deal? You must know who you're picking now. Are you working out the "above slot" scenarios for a QB versus a RB?

Not at all, just got called away from the desk.Andy's right, and Chicago is playing like Cleveland this year.1.22 Chicago: Brian Brohm, QB LouisvilleI think Bears fans would be pleased with Otah and Brohm. We'll have to sign turner in FA and make some other moves.

Totally sound logic from top to bottom. 85 is not a good fit for Dallas. I do hope Jerry shows interest to raise the price on the Skins/Eagles. Good deal Ridge. The board didn't really fall the Cowboys way and based on that, making this trade is well done. Hopefully the player we discussed falls to 28.

I got my CB's sniped ahead of me, so I'm taking another position:

The Eagles select Sam Baker OT Southern Cal

*edit* This is not a desperate need for the Eagles, but they have traditionally stocked the OL in the early phases of the draft, and I see them continuing this. I was locked into Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but he went one pick previous.
DeShawn Jackson would be a better option - and could help with KR/PR which they'll need if they are pushing for 2008 with their current team.....

damn.Oh well, chalking this up to fun and nothing even remotely close to reality. Way too many trades.....including 1st rounders in 2009. It's like playing with monopoly money.

sorry for the hold up guys...did not see the other pick made last night...and I was working this morning.....good pick anyway.....was thinking about a trade for 85 so it is good that the pick was makde for me....

Tenn does need a legit WR. And they have cap room, IIRC. But lord, why or why would 85 want to go from Palmer to Young?

With pick 1.23 the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College

Steelers need line help in the worst way and while a DE like Philip Merling is tantalizing, the OL needs the most work, especially if Faneca and Starks both bolt. Cherilus is a seasoned tackle whose stock would be higher if not for a lackluster senior year. However, I firnmly believe his struggles were due to the move from RT to LT - he simply doesn't have the lateral quickness to handle speed rushers and as such, would be a liability in pass coverage on the left side. However, he fits the mold of a Steelers RT to a T, he's an absolute beast in run blocking, can hold his own on the right edge, and his weaknesses really exist only in technique. He's a plug-and-play RT who can start from day 1, and that's what Pittsburgh needs. Then, they can move Colon inside to G where he belongs. We could be looking at this line in '08 : LT - Marvel Smith LG - Chris Kemeoatu/Sean Mahan C - Kendall Simmons RG - Willie Colon RT - Gosder Cherilus

I agree with you, except for the part where the exact same thing happened last year. :goodposting:

Well, I was all set to select Philip Merling for Tennessee here, but now Ocho Cinco is available for this pick. I think Tennessee would have to pull the trigger here, but I want others to weigh in, as this is getting a little Madden-esque.

I'm going to have to say a no on 85 for Tenn. I believe he'd be worth a high 2nd but not a 1st and Tenn IMO is not a good fit due to players questionable character.

Teams have shown a willingness to move into the late 1st to grab falling QBs. Off the top of my head, Balt, Buf and Cle have all done it in the last several years.

I'm tending to agree here. Can we not have Johnson traded for purposes of this draft?I'd like to see what you think the Titans would take with that pick.

That seems like a very sensible thing on all counts.

I'm not a big fan of this WR clas at all. Plus, when was the last time the Eagles burned a 1st on a WR (Fred-Ex) is, the Eagles value three positions over all else: DE, OT and CB, and they go out of their way to try to fill those positions via the 1st round of the draft. Now I could see taking a WR in the next round....

OK, I'll keep the loud mouth on my team. :goodposting:

I agree trading picks is fine, but i don't know about all the player trades...

As for Ocho to Tennessee, I don't think his attitude is a fit for them.. especially after pacman ( i know chad isn't that bad, but still)

Mel Kiper said last night that he thinks there'll be FIVE first round WRs. I think he's crazy.I don't think there's a lot of first round talent at the position, but there's a TON of great second and third round guys.

This is going by alot faster today opposed to yesterday. Thanks for helping my day at work go by faster fellas!! much obliged

85>>>>>Deion Branch
This situation is more like Moss than Branch.
I'll have to disagree with that assessment. Moss had a terrible run in Oakland where he all but QUIT. Ocho may be a pain in the ###, but he plays/works hard.

OK, then.... the Titans select..

Philip Merling, DE, Clemson

I know most prognosticators are thinking WR here, but hey - if they wanted a WR, they could get Chad Johnson at this spot (in this mock). I would have considered a playmaker like DeSean Jackson, but honestly, I am not 100% sold on Manningham or Sweed being a huge upgrade from what they have now. On the other hand, they have free agent situations all over the DL, which is the facet of this team that's kept them in the playoff mix year after year. Haynesworth would be a huge loss, but assuming they re-sign him to a massive deal, that leaves very little money with which to re-sign Antwan Odom (or Travis LaBoy,) meaning that they would be perilously thin, and without a real starter at RE. Problem solved with the addition of Merling, who is an underrated end (at least for another month or so) that could likely play right away, meaning they could sacrifice Odom to re-sign Hanyesworth and still have very little (if any) dropoff on the D-line.

I kind of opened Pandora's box with that Jason Taylor trade. But that was for a third rounder and is pretty reasonable considering the circumstances.Talking about trading first rounders, though, is a bit more unrealistic, IMO.

Ideally this is a moot point as they get a FA WR.However, one of the overlooked needs is at KR/PR - which Jackson should be looked at FIRST, rather than as a pure WR.

In a perfect world they get a DB who can return kicks in Round 1, but I'm not seeing that so far....

Seattle's selection:

1.25 Jonathon Stewart RB Oregon

Stewart or Mendenhall would fit here but I'm going with the guy that should be most familiar to Seattle fans. A little faster than Mendenhall with slightly better hands. The seal is off the RB's in round 1!

I pegged that one in December. :excited: Edit: Make that October.

Jacksonville and FantasyTrader are on the clock.

Good to see things moving along. As an FYI, I am going to be out from about 11:35 to 1:30ish Eastern.

The Jags Select:

KENTWAN BALMER - DT - NORTH CAROLINA

Need '07 to not be a fluke! Should immediately contribute to our declining defensive interior.

Excuse me? This trade is almost EXACTLY what could, and has, happened in the NFL (check Cleveland / Dallas last year). Unlike the 1st + for 85 and some other player deals.

Ridge, if we don't get to you at 28 could you PM someone (Andy?) with some Dallas selections so we can at least get out of the first round?

Who the Chargers should take:
