Shark Pool mock draft - three rounds. Draft started (1 Viewer)

Sorry about missing the Giants pick, had a meeting all morning. Connor and Flowers were the two I was looking at so thanks for moving it along.

There's a trade proposal between Kirby and Keys that I'm confirming.

Keys is wandering around the pool. I hope he shows up soon.
Oakland trades the 2.07 and Oakland's 4th round pick for the 2.01.Oakland selects:

Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas

Oakland has a good running game right now, but putrid backs to run with it. Felix is great at sneaking through holes and making stuff happen. I'm a Mizzou fan, and although it was only one game, I thought Jones looked as good as any college runner I've seen.

Yes, including that other Arkansas back.

Defense and rushing. That's going to be Raider football for a while.

Oakland is done with this mock draft now.
Sweet... It looked like Felix was going to drop to the Jets and we didn't want that. One of the guys I'm targeting should be there at 2.07.

With the 3rd pick in the second round, the Atlanta Falcons select...

Pat Sims, DT, Auburn

Sims was the highest DT left on my board.

Entering this draft, I had the goal of taking at least one offensive lineman, an impact skill player and a run-stopping DT. I feel like through the selections of McFadden, Albert and Sims, I accomplished that. The more I think about it, Albert probably would have been there with one of my two second round picks, but I was afraid the Dolphins and or Rams would have been looking O-line in the picks ahead of me and I would have ended up with a developmental type player like Richardson or Collins, instead of a guy that should be in my lineup from day 1.

Overall, I'd give the first three rounds of this draft a B-; I probably would have gone A or A- if I hadn't jumped the gun on the Albert trade and kept that early third.

1.5 - Darren McFadden, RB

1.30 - Brandon Albert, G/T

2.3 - Pat Sims, DT

That's a great pick for Atlanta. Denver is sad.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, though, they're going to end up with Anthony Morelli as their starting QB next year.

I'll take Kelly...too good to pass up
 2.02 - Malcolm Kelly, WR - OklahomaSorry I jumped the gun, Mr. TheWick.I bet Atlanta goes quarterback.
If I was really the Falcons GM, I would definitely take a QB later in the draft to develop. If Brohm had made it to the later part of round one, I would have traded up for him.I just don't think any one of the guys available right now (Henne, Flacco, Woodson) are ready to start and present value at the top of round 2. I would like to see what Leftwich can do reunited with his old coach, behind an improved line, and with a full off-season to prepare.Anyways, we'll probably get a chance to draft the top QB in 2009. ;)

With the 4th pick in 2nd round of the draft, the Green Bay Packers select....

2.04 - Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland

Decided to take the best OLB left on my board at a position that isn't very deep in this draft imo. If Henderson turns out anything like his brother, we've got a bargain. Could create a dream LB corps in Green Bay for years to come with Henderson joining Hawk and Barnett. Henderson is a playmaker and rated higher than all the 2nd tier CB's on my board. Damn those CB's dropped quick.

Again. Denver is sad.Where's he going to play in Green Bay, though? Who plays were?

Why couldn't he just take over for Poppinga? I don't see a problem.

Because Poppinga plays the strong side and Henderson doesn't seem to fit the part. He seems too small for the strong side.

Poppinga is listed at 6'3", 245 lbs. Henderson is 6'3", 242 lbs. :moneybag:

Picking a linebacker seems like a luxury for the Packers.
It is a luxury, but TT doesn't always pick for need and most positions, if not all, will be luxury picks for the Packers this year. Henderson is a potential stud OLB in the NFL, do you really think it's that bad of a pick? I don't.
I like the pick as well. I think the Packers will take a LB in the first 3 rounds.

No I don't think it's a bad pick at all. Henderson is going to be really good.I just didn't expect the pick to be at that position.

If it does happen like this, it will just add more intrigue to the Vikings Packers games. Brother versus brother baby, just like the civil war.

I hope he plays like his brother at the pro level. :goodposting:

Also, isn't ERIN a girl's way of spelling this name? I always thought that Aaron or Aron was a man's way of spelling this.

New York Jets select - Limas Sweed, WR

This pick assumes that at least one solid OL is signed in FA

Jets need a playmaker with height - Cotch and Coles are small WRs and we saw how difficult it was for Clemmens to hit them. Swede at 6'4" gives them a big target and the heir to Coles who is slowing down. We saw how Eli was helped by Plax's height - heres to hoping Swede does the dame - Brad smith is a gimmick player and the value of Swede was too good for me to pass up.

With the 37 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...

Chad Henne - QB - Michigan

Beck didn't have a lot of opportunity to shine last year.. but he didn't look like he had "it" when he was on the field. He's also close to retirement age.

Some might think it's too early but I think we've seen the real Chad Henne lately. I actually have him above Brohm, and right about here in the 2nd round. His throwing shoulder was injured during the season and he looked horrible... but after it had a month to heal he made all the throws against Florida and looked great at the Senior Bowl practices. He's also got the cannon to make use of Ginn's speed... now we just need an Oline and another reciever.... oh and some more defensive players.

The Houston Texans are announcing that Sage Rosenfels is available for trade!!!!

Come get that franchise Qb that you are looking for.

ummmmm......... :goodposting: two totally different names.
How? They sound exactly the same phonetically. I know 3 girls named Erin and have only ever met guys named Aaron with the same sounding name. :D Maybe I need to get out more.
That is my understanding of the name as well. My son's name is Aaron. I have a girl cousin named Erin.

Andy? The Vikings have two 3rds this year
Not in this draft they don't. I traded one of them for Jason Taylor.I have no interest in Sage Rosenfels.
Oh, I didn't see that. Good trade.Yeah, probably not worth a draft pick as there are other veterans available in FA.

He'd take over for Poppinga yesterday.

I think he's right behind Brohm. Henne is the only reason I hesitated to make the deal with Dallas, I just don't think he or Brohm would be around. Probably would have been wise to wait until one was gone to make the deal for the other, but with quite a few teams needing QBs, I didn't see how else a deal would work. Good pick.
