Shark Pool Mock Draft - V2.0. 3 rounds! (1 Viewer)

1.01: Miami Dolphins Take: Chris Long DE/LB.

While my hope would be to trade down, Miami takes a parcells type of guy in long. Jake is the only other consideration here, as the Miami brass feel that Beck will have a chance to prove himself this year.

1.02: STL Rams Take: Jake Long OL/ Michigan

Orlando Pace has maybe another year in him and Barron could really benefit from a year playing guard. J. Long hass the attitude the Oline needs. He is a tough run blocker to help Al Saunders offense and protect Bulger and a very safe pick that should help the Rams offense get back on track.

We would have taken Chris Long had he been there and considered Dorsey. But I think the DE's and DT's are deeper in this draft that high quality o-lineman.

We'll look to address the d-line with our second pick but you never know...........

This is how the draft should go, where Miami and St. Louis make the Falcons' pick pretty much for them.

1. Miami (Gatorman) - Chris Long

2. St. Louis (Blackjacks) - Jake Long

3. Atlanta (Andy Dufresne) - Glenn Dorsey

This pick pretty much comes down to either Jake Long or Glenn Dorsey as the pick is almost certainly one for the trenches. Dorsey has re-established himself as an elite player and may be the best player in the draft.

4. Oakland (John Madden's Lunchbox)

5. Kansas City (RBM)

6. New York Jets (KellysHeroes)

7. New England (Chaos Commish)

8. Baltimore (Chaos Commish)

Dang, get busy with meetings and POOF! This this is GONE. Well, don't have time to do it anyway. It'll be fun to read the followup.

1-4 Oakland

The temptation is to pick a skill player.

I'd trade down if I had this pick in real life as it's the only pick this franchise gets in the first 3 rounds.

We know who Al Davis will take here, but I think the guy is overrated.

Instead I'll take best player available

1-4 Oakland - Vernon Gholston DE/LB

KC. Could use help on both lines. Ellis? Clady? Otah? All possible.

I said last year the GM shouldve been fired for letting an NFL team go into the season with Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard as its qbs. The Chiefs arent ready to win right now, so you cant fault them for taking the top qb in the draft.

WITH THEE UGH, 5TH PICK OF THE 1ST ROUND, THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SELECT:

MATT RYAN, QB

Can we also see who CC could have picked for the Patriots at the forfeited 31st pick? Then we can place some value to the pick.

1. Miami (Gatorman) - Chris Long

2. St. Louis (Blackjacks) - Jake Long

3. Atlanta (Andy Dufresne) - Glenn Dorsey

4. Oakland (John Madden's Lunchbox) - Vernon Gholston

5. Kansas City (RBM) -- Matt Ryan

6. New York Jets (KellysHeroes) -- Darren McFadden

7. New England (Chaos Commish) - Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, CB

As good as NE is they suddenly have a list of needs. The loss of corners in FA has them looking closely at the top prospects. Another corner is mentioned more often, but in the end they go with the best all around athlete and playmaker.

8. Baltimore (Chaos Commish) - Branden Albert, OL

The Ravens could address a few positions with this pick, but a determination to seek the best available player brings the fast rising OL aboard. Albert can play anywhere on the OL but center. Corner is a pressing need, but Ozzie has a player on his board he expects to get later.

This is the best possible outcome for the Bengals. Best player available at the biggest position of need.

I agree with this. If it went this way, I think either NE or BAL would have the leverage to trade down for a team looking for a DT for the 4-3. New Orleans could jump up. Cincy will have to consider it. Buffalo, Denver, Carolina... the run of 4-3 Ds following NE and BAL make predicting a trade up for Ellis one of the drafts more likely scenarios.

CC,I thought you were not that enamored with DRC? I think he should be the 1st db taken but I dont think he will.

Hey guys, I confirmed it with travdogg and he is cool with me drafting for Tampa since he had two teams. That ok with everyone?

CC,

I thought you were not that enamored with DRC? I think he should be the 1st db taken but I dont think he will.
Not enamored? No that hasn't been my problem. What I have said is that I don't know enough about him because I have never seen him play sans Senior Bowl. I am perfectly willing to believe the hype considering where the hype is coming from (solid sources)). I have seen the rest of these corners quite a bit, and Cromartie sounds like the best of them to me.

argghh...... I hate i miss the sign up for this. I'll catch the next one.
You can finish off the Pats if you want. I'm happy with one team.Since you think the DRC should be 1st DB off the board, the Pats should work for you even though you don't think he will be 1st. I prefer to mock what I think teams should do than what I think might happen, myself. Thus, the Albert pick to BAL.

I don't believe the Bills reach for a WR here and instead get one of the best pass rushers in the draft. Very solid pick here to help the D.

As a Bills fan, I would be upset with this pick. We have no need for a DE this early in the draft. The Bills need to come out of this draft grabbing a CB and a WR in the first two rounds (first 3 rounds at worst, but we need to make sure that player in the 3rd can start for us).

With the D the Bills play, they do not need to get a "shutdown" corner. An upgrade over Kelsay and some depth never hurts.

Who's our #2 CB? Whoever you choose, do you think they're good enough to help us win games? And now that Denny is back the Bills can keep Kelsay fresh and go back to our rotation that works just fine. If nothing else, Stroud in the middle will make our DE's look that much better.

We need a playmaker at the CB position. We can fill the DE depth in the later rounds.

Pass Rushers are nearly impossible to find. A Guy like Harvey playing opposite Schoebel would be quite the luxury. The best cure for bad corners is a top notch pass rush. Ashton Youboty still has some hope as a starting Corner - so he is the #2 guy.

The Bills pick early enough in Round 2 where I think they can get a guy like James Hardy who in my opinion would be the ideal WR for that offense. At worst they can get their pick of guys like Fred Davis or Dustin Keller or Early Doucet. There are a ton of options for the Bills to improve their offense but only a few options where they can really improve their defense.

Id have to agree though that corner is another option - I just think that its easier to find a Corner than it is a pass rusher like Harvey. Corners get cut - pass rushers dont.

Clady is the steal of the draft so far.

With trades not being allowed, Carolina is disappointed Clady didn't fall another spot. Likely would have offered a 3rd rounder to swap with Buffalo in order to get Clady.

Good pick.

Hey guys, I confirmed it with travdogg and he is cool with me drafting for Tampa since he had two teams. That ok with everyone?
I let mjohnell know that he's going to pick for Tampa. Please PM him when its his pick.- Surprised to see that it's DRC that CC thinks the Pats will pick. Not surprised it's a corner.- I'm not sure that offensive line is the concern most think it is for the Ravens. No denying that it's a Newsome type pick though.- Buffalo isn't a destination I've heard Harvey going to, but I can see it.

12. Denver (Almas_4th_child) - Ryan Clady - LT Boise State

The Denver running game needs to be restored and with an athletic Clady it can take the right first step.
I like this pick, and have mocked Clady to the Broncos myself, but I wonder if they may skip the LT route and give Ryan Harris a try.Denver is a team with a surprising number of holes. They need o-line help, a more stable option at RB, another WR, and help all over the defense (except for the corners).

11. Buffalo (Getinthemix) - Derrick Harvey - DE Florida

12. Denver (Almas_4th_child) - Ryan Clady - LT Boise State

13. Carolina (travdogg)- Chris Williams - OT Vanderbilt, would have gone with either Clady or Harvey if they had fallen. Williams will likely start at guard or Wharton will move and Williams will play tackle, either way upgrading the o-line was a top goal and this pick should help achieve it.

Are you a Carolina homer? I ask because I was reading the other day that they might prefer a beefier guy like Otah to Williams, even though they've been kicking the tires of CW quite a bit.

I think they've been looking at Otah just in case Williams doesn't fall past Denver. I'm a Tampa homer but I follow everyone in the division pretty closely.

1. Miami (Gatorman) - Chris Long

2. St. Louis (Blackjacks) - Jake Long

3. Atlanta (Andy Dufresne) - Glenn Dorsey

4. Oakland (John Madden's Lunchbox) - Vernon Gholston

5. Kansas City (RBM) -- Matt Ryan

6. New York Jets (KellysHeroes) -- Darren McFadden

7. New England (Chaos Commish) - Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, CB

8. Baltimore (Chaos Commish) - Branden Albert, OL

9. Cincinnati (yellowdog)- Sedrick Ellis - DT - USC

10. New Orleans (Kirby)- Leodis McKelvin - CB Troy

11. Buffalo (Getinthemix) - Derrick Harvey - DE Florida

12. Denver (Almas_4th_child) - Ryan Clady - LT Boise State

13. Carolina (travdogg)- Chris Williams - OT Vanderbilt

14. Chicago (Deranged Hermit)- Jeff Otah OT Pitt

There are literally a million ways I could go with this pick: Rashard Mendenhall, Branden Albert, and Kenny Phillips all fill major needs, but I can only take one of them here. Otah is funny, I've seen him go anywhere between number 5 and number 25, but I think he's a guy much more suited to the Chicago offense than, say, a Chris Williams (who went one spot a head of us).

15. Detroit (FUBAR)

16. Arizona (Getinthemix)

17. Minnesota (footballman_696969)

14. Chicago (Deranged Hermit)- Jeff Otah OT Pitt

15. Detroit (FUBAR) - Rashard Mendenhall RB, Illinois

Not the pick I would take, but this is Matt Millen. They need a RB, and while I'd wait to round 2, Mendenhall should be a workhorse for years.

I think Otah is the right pick for the Bears. His postseason hasn't been all that great, but that's due to his recovering from a high ankle sprain suffered late in the season. I agree that he fits the Bears scheme.FUBAR doesn't like the Lions taking Mendenhall. I do. I can't see them rolling with Tatum Bell and Calhoun as their primary backs. If he's there, he almost HAS to be the pick.
