Shaun Hill (1 Viewer)

War Eagle

Footballguy
All he did last year was come in and throw a 68.4% completion rate for 501 yards 5 TDs 1 INT with a 101.3 QB rating in 3 games.

He comes in week 8 at half and picks right back up going 15/23 for 173 and 1TD.

SF remaining schedule:

Nov 10 @Arizona

Nov 16 St. Louis

Nov 23 @Dallas

Nov 30 @Buffalo

Dec 7 N.Y. Jets

Dec 14 @Miami

Dec 21 @St. Louis

Dec 28 Washington

I see some very good matchups in there.

Pick this guy up and be ready for some good numbers down the stretch!

As a former JTO owner I am contemplating Hill...I am weak at QB with the unpredictable Favre and Garrard as my only options....I have Shaun Hill (and Bulger) on my radar due to easy schedules...I'm just worried about whether Martz will have to streamline the offense for him?? Any SF homers to weigh in on this?

I have Favre too... who are you starting this week? I fear that if I start Favre over Hill I will regret it. On the other hand - I can see me starting Hill and then Favre throwing 4 TD's and Hill getting picked 4 times.... ugh. What to do.

I'm quietly optimistic with Shaun Hill. He looked good against SEA, but you have to take that with a grain of salt because of SEA's big lead when he entered. I saw A LOT of 4 wr sets last week, way more than any other SF game I've watched. I'm not sure if that's something more to come, geared towards Hill's strengths.? But SF haven't done a lot of 4 wr sets when behind in other games. Something to watch for that's making me quietly optimistic. Reminds me of what I saw in DET last year.

But yeah, he has a good schedule. If he can just hold onto the ball better, he'll outproduce JTO. The defense continually gets burned every week, should be lots of passing to end the majority of their games. The emergence of Josh Morgan is a big boost over Isaac Bruce. Possibly more Delaine Walker with VD getting reamed last week. A lot of stuff I see as positives for Hill, he's a sneaky pickup with that schedule

Which of the targets benefits the most from Hill? Didn't VD do well (for his standards) with Hill at the helm last year?

Every other pass attempt that I saw him throw was an attempt to Frank Gore. Gore's ppr value raises even higher with Hill.

Just one problem: he was beat out by JT O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan, in theory, is better than Shaun Hill.

I write that one off to a Martz decision, I'm under the impression that in order to save Nolan's job he needed to relinquish all offensive duties to Martz. I doubt Martz had any interest in any San Fran QB running his system other than the guy he brought in. Hill wasn't ever given a chance to win the job in preseason, there's even speculation they made up the 'tired arm' injury for Hill this August to make naming JTO the starter less controversial.

He looked good against weak opponents last year too. I figure QBBC.

I think Martz's system and O'Sullivan's familiarity with it was the reason for JT's start. I'm not going to say that Hill is or isn't more talented, I really don't know but he is the starter in a Martz offense so he has some upside. I threw him on my bench and we'll see what happens.
