"Genital grabbing is OK in moderation"

Kelly Gregg on grabbing genitals

Kansas City defensive lineman Shaun Smith has created a little bit of a fuss around the NFL. That's what happens when you have been accused of grabbing an opponent's genitals in back-to-back weeks.

First, it was Cleveland center Alex Mack (no, not this Alex Mack) who claimed that Smith touched his no-no places in a post-play pile-up during Kansas City's Week 2 win. San Francisco offensive tackle Anthony Davis said that Smith did it again on Sunday (and the video below seems to back up his claim).

"He tried to feel me," Davis told CSNBayArea.com. "That's weird, right?"

Well, yeah, kind of. I mean, under pretty much all circumstances, I would think the grabbing of genitals is weird. But I'm not a professional football player, so I asked Ravens nose tackle Kelly Gregg, who has been in his fair share of scrums over the years, if anything is off-limits when you're buried underneath a pile of bodies.

"I’ll tell you what’s off-limits, getting called out twice for [grabbing genitals]," Gregg said. "I don’t know what’s going on there. Yeah, a lot of things go on in the pile, but you can’t be doing that week in and week out."

So there you have it. Genital grabbing is OK in moderation, but if you get called out for it, knock it off.

Oh, and, as promised, here's the video of Smith getting to third base with Davis:

This is probably the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen done in a game... that being said the jokes for it have had me rolling.

Perplexed by the level of play Anthony Davis had been putting forth...he was probably checking to make sure there wasn't a dirty clam down there.

Did Davis draw a foul for the punch? Maybe that was the plan.
Yes, Davis was flagged. 15 yards, personal foul for punching back.I'd say that's just reinforcement for Smith's behavior. Grab some guy's junk, get a first down.

That was a costly handy...

It cost Shaun Smith $10,000 to grab a guy's junk

The eye in the sky doesn't lie.

Cameras caught Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith grabbing 49ers tackle Anthony Davis' nether regions last Sunday, and the NFL has responded.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports Smith will pay $10,000 for the infraction. Smith was accused of similar genital grabbing the week before, but avoided punishment there.

If Smith wants to keep up his hit streak this week, he'll have to do it in practice. The Chiefs are on a bye.

Reminds of when Dexter Manly spit in a Jim Dombrowski face in a scrum, got punched and helped kill the Saints drive to win/tie a game years back.

That's a stiff penalty.

The 15 yard penalty on Davis was the turning point in the game. It was 7-3 at the time and the 9ers had a decent drive going. The play where the penalty occured would have set up and 2nd and 4 in just past mid field. After the penalty we were face with a 2nd and 19 and promptly failed to complete the first resulting in punt. Things swiftly disintegrated from there. If the 9ers could of scored, maybe the game goes in a different direction.

I missed the penis joke in there.

:D A decent drive. Jesus. I guess a "drive" to midfield is pretty good for the 9ers on a day like Sunday.
