Shockey, a bust so far? (1 Viewer)

Last week he was only targeted 3 times. Does he get on track today against a struggling Jet's defense? Giants homers chime in.

Discuss.

If Plax were out, I think Shockey would do a lot better.

As it is, they have Jacobs coming back, so I suspect they'll run more than before, and the Jets run D is weak.

I don't expect Eli to pass for much today, and the majority will go to Plaxico.

So all in all, I suspect we'd be lucky to see 5 targets to Shockey. I'm benching him for Daniels.

He has been #2 in targets on the Giants for the past 3 years and is #2 overall this year as well. You guys are going to bench him after one game of low targets?

Jeremy Shockey talked Friday about whether he can ever return to the glory of his first five seasons in which he averaged nearly 63 receptions and five TDs. "Obviously, I'm not 21 years old anymore," said Shockey. "A bunch of things have changed, a bunch of elements, a bunch of pieces in the puzzle have gone elsewhere. It's just different. It's not the same as it was and it's never going to be."

I never really been a fan of Shockey's and have considered him an underachiever overall. Despite being a major target, he drops a lot of passes, especially at the really wrong time, and he gets stupid penalties. He could have been much better. However, the targets don't lie. He is still going to be more involved in the passing game on average than most TEs.
