Shooting @ KC Chiefs facility--2 people shot (1 player) (1 Viewer)

There must be a story about why he decided to end it at the team facilities. I am not sure I want to hear it, this is all pretty dark for me, but clearly he picked that spot for a reason.
it's possible, but we don't know it happened like that right now.he might've gone there for whatever reason, acted goofy and got emotional, then the coaches follow him to teh parking lot and confront him and he spontaneously whips the gun out and kills himself.who knows.

My intent isn't to speculate but the info coming out is that he was confronted by coaches or team personnel as he entered and then he shot himself.

One of the twitter links to La Canfora reports that Belcher has a two-month old child...TRAGIC
:o :( Poor thing. What an ugly situation.
if family takes that kid in, what age do you think they break the news?
Hopefully they will have the help of professionals that are trained to handle such situations. Whenever they do, there is never a good time to hear that daddy shot mommy and then killed himself.
Given the child's age, do you even bother? Just wondering. Tough situation there.
probably better his family tells him considering it's all over the internet.how would you like to google that news up when you're 9?

Difficult to try and find reason in unreasonable actions. Assuming the reports are true I feel especially awful for that poor child :(

For those who might have similar thoughts - seek help and think of those you would leave behind!

Not trying to read into another persons thoughts, but I think they mean don't mention it at all. If it is only an infant and another couple take over raising the child, raise it as their own. That may seem wrong, but I am sure it happens all the time.

Thanks. That's what I was trying to say but couldn't put it into the right words.

And people are really pissed at La Canfora for reporting this before the police may have had the opportunity to notify the family and they had the chance to publicly release the player`s name...stay tuned, as there could be some backlash coming the way of La Canfora.

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

KCPD say the player thanked both men before taking his life, and that Pioli and Crennel did not feel threatened. KCPD not revealing identity

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

of the player yet to allow time for family notification but team sources say it was LB Jovan Belcher, as reported.

ETA second part of LaCanfora tweet

Good. Sometimes being the first to break a story should not be that important.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

RT @DannyParkins: KCPD confirms #Chiefs player involved in murder/suicide was Jovan Belcher.

yeah, because it's so much better for the family when they hear the news from the police.

UPDATE: Girlfriend's mother witnessed shooting. #Chiefs personnel tried to stop him from "additional acts of violence."

That gave me a chill.
I can't imagine the trauma Pioli and Crennel will have to live with if they actually witnessed this or if they feel somewhat responsible for causing it by "confronting" him in the parking lot. Oooof!

Actually, as a criminal justice participant, I am aware that the police have officers trained in grief counselling and such, so yes, I would suggest that it would be better to hear from that source rather than read it on twitter. Just sayin...

Add the GFs mother witnessing her daughters murder. Man what a horrible situation that involves way too many innocent people affected for the rest of their lives. Thoughts and prayers to all involved who are left to deal with this tragedy.

Danny Parkins @DannyParkins

The player apparently was confronted with #Chiefs coaches in the parking lot before he put the gun to his head and committed suicide.

Wow. Obviously secondary to what has happened and how it will impact a lot of innocent people, but I'm guessing the medical community won't be able to analyze his brain now as they have with others in recent years. Sounds like violence was an issue with him.

I dont get this....IF the chiefs are aware of a criminal situation, WTF are the coaches going out to confront him in the parking lot?Why aren't the police already at the facility of the suspect who has a job he may be thinking he needs to get to?If they aren't aware, WTF are the coaches going to confront him about in the parking lot? (Is this how tardy on Saturday is handled? coaches say see you tuesday in the parking lot dont come in?) What were they confronting him about????

Very sad. The total population of the NFL (players, coaches, staff.,.) is that of a small city. Unfourtanately, situations like this are problem in any society. I wouldn't rush to any concussion or other football related speculation.

Say a prayer for their child/family and remember to love yours.

Maybe they were informed of the situation and then heard he was outside and decided to try and prevent more senseless violence? It is still early in the story, I am sure there are a lot of questions that are yet to be answered, and some that may never be answered.

Due to this incident or does he have a history of violence?

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

Officer Snapp said police called at 7:50am to 5400 block Chrysler Ave., were told a current Chief had shot his girlfriend "multiple times

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

the victim died a short time later. At 8:10 call of armed suspect marching that description in parking lot at Arrowhead practice facility...

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

Snap said Pioli and Crennel were talking to player, he thanked them and then officer on scene heard gunshot as he got out of car...

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

The player shot himself in front of team facility. again police not yet confirmed it was Belcher but multiple sources say it was...

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

Chiefs are shocked, Belcher had no history of anything like this, seen as a good kid, close to Crennel. he recently had child w/girlfriend..

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora

Chiefs trying to organize meetings, prepare for game, and deal with this horrific turn of events.

If it turns out that this man had concussion, this might ruin the professional football.

Very sad news

I think I misread this tweet as thinking there were previous issues. My mistake:Kansas City Star @KCStar

...

At 7:50 this morning police received a call to respond to a shooting at the 5400 block of Crysler Ave, and when they arrived “a lady informed us her daughter had been shot multiple times by her boyfriend,” Snapp said. The victim was rushed to the hospital and died “a short time later,” Snapp said. Snapp said the victim’s mother told police her daughter’s boyfriend was a current Chiefs player.

At 8:10 this morning Snapp said police got a call that a party was armed with a gun in the parking lot of the Chiefs’ practice facility at Arrowhead Stadium. Snapp said the description of this suspect matched that of the description of the shooter at the Crysler Ave location. So at that point, Snapp said, police “kind of knew what was going on.”

Snapp said the black male had a gun to his head and that Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel were also in front of the facility talking to the suspect, and that the player thanked both Pioli and Crennel “for all they had done for him,” before taking his own life.

According to Snapp, the officer on the scene was getting out of his car, “heard a gun shot and found out (the shooter) had taken his own life.”

I wonder if he had intended to enter the Chiefs facility prior to being confronted by Pioli and Crennel - probably a good thing they stepped up at the price of having to witness the horror themselves.

What a horrible, tragic situation. I can't even imagine what the baby's grandmother and the Chiefs must be feeling right now.

There must be a story about why he decided to end it at the team facilities. I am not sure I want to hear it, this is all pretty dark for me, but clearly he picked that spot for a reason.
Attention.

If he intended to visit one of the other players then maybe.

Police say Belcher left the scene and drove to the stadium where he was confronted by team personnel, including GM Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel. According to police, they tried to keep Belcher from committing additional acts of violence.Just as police arrived on the scene, they heard a gunshot and discovered Belcher had shot himself in the head.

I know what happened... I was subtly trying to hint at a possible reason he came to arrowhead stadium and that stopping him from visiting another player may have been the better of two terrible situations.
