Short Yardage RBs..Very Over rated: (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
I truly feel in most cases that short yardage and goal line RBs are very over rated.

I have had The Bus on my team for the last three years so I watched many Steeler games. Last year Parker would have a 10 yard run and get knocked out at the 1...in comes the Bus,,more often than not it took the Bus more than 1 attempt to punch it in..sometimes 3. I think Parker given the chance could do the same thing.

The story is the same in Atlanta..Dunn has a great run and gets tackled at the 1. First and goal here come Duckett...he gets stuffed twice and gets in on the third try. Dunn could have done that as well.

The list goes on and on.

I remember when Wayne Fontes used to get the ball first and goal one the one and take out Barry Sanders. John Madden said "I never understood why a coach would take his best player off the field"

Don't question the genius that was Wayne Fontes. Just accept it and embrace it.

I think the main concern is the amount of abuse a back takes on those goal line carries... If I recall, Dunn got banged up pretty bad at the beginning of Mora's tenure in Atlanta because he was giving him all the goal line carries. No question Dunn was effective in those situations but the injuries created an overall net loss for his production.
