Shortstop - Fantasy 2011 (1 Viewer)

What's your scoring system? I'm trying to figure out how Jeter would have outscored Hanley or Tulo in any points set up.
He outscored Tulo by 2pts cuz he played more games than him. The scoring system is:R = 1ptBB = 1pt1B = 1pt2B = 2pt3B = 3ptHR = 4ptRBI = 1ptSB = 2ptCS= -1pt
I've got Tulo at 519 in 122 games, Jeter at 517 in 157. Maybe I counted wrong.
Regardless, Tulo would be alot more valueable since you wouldn't just have an empty spot when he was out.

Yeah, that's a given. (I hope)

In my points league Jeter was the 2nd ranked SS last yr :lmao:
Another reason why point system leagues suck.
To each their own. I hate the daily grind of the roto league. Id rather be in a more luck based H2H pts league for the fun factor.
Don't you see an issue with one of the worst offensive starting SS (in 2010), coming in 2nd place?
One of the worst offensive starting SS in what? Baseball?

Obviously, I wasnt really arguing otherwise

JJ Hardy, Jamey Carroll, and Marco Scutaro had higher OPS than Jeter. If Jeter, was not Jeter, he would not be getting 720 plate appearances. And if he was not on the Yankees, and batting at the top of the order, he would not be scoring 110 runs.He was 16th in OPS for shortstops. So, it may have been overstating things a bit calling him one of the worst. How about extremely pedestrian?

And how did they compare in R, SB, RBI, & HR? Isnt that what we're talking about here? Fantasy? Most fantasy leagues dont have OPS as a category. He dominates in R and does very well in SB. And compared to other SS his HR, RBI, and OBP didnt kill him. We're talking about fantasy here. HE IS GETTING 720 plate appearances. You cant just ignore that. So I think hes even valuable in 5X5 leagues since the rest of the SS suck

I think Jeter is as overrated as the next guy, but OPS may not be the best way to quantify a leadoff hitter's value. .270/.340 in '10 is not very impressive, but .334/.406 in '09 and .314/.385 as a whole is pretty good stuff from a lead-off hitting middle infielder.Whether it is roto or points, Jeter's value is going to be impacted by line-up spot, team, home park, etc. You can chalk those reasons up for his inflated run totals, but they're also what brings his fantasy value.
