There have been a number of players who don't have much value to their current team, who are now getting outright released so they can go try to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Kyle Orton and now Donovan McNabb are two examples, Sage Rosenfels is a third possibility though Miami decided it was in their interests to retain him.
Some of these players could probably have been traded if the NFL trade deadline wasn't so early - the Tuesday after week 6 of the regular season, or about 1/3 of the way through the season. Most of the major sports leagues have their trade deadlines closer to 2/3 of the way through the regular season.
Would you like to see the NFL move the trade deadline back? If so, how far should they push it back? If not, why do you think it would be a bad idea?
