A friend of a friend is the sound guy for STS9. Saw them live once--a really solid, fun band.

Thanks for the suggestions. You are correct I have not vetted their entire catalog. But I stand by my choice after listening to these.A pretty song but I sort of doubt you vetted their whole catalog. I highly recommend "Song for America" or "Magnum Opus" especially for the prog rock lovers out there.

Oh. I thought you were just adding the songs/artists to your list. Didn’t know I needed to match. I’m guessing I’m the one who is 0-3?I only received lists from 6 people. Here is a breakdown of how many of the artists submitted appear on my list:

Oh, the Spinners are great. Love both picks. The vocals on It's a Shame are out of this world too. So good.
I guess I'm the only person who thinks "Devil's Haircut" is among his best? (And, yes, I realize it's nothing but mostly a mish-mash of samples. I still stand by it.) Meh. I'm pretty okay with this.
the Spinners are awesome. "I'll be around" is a beaut - also
Soul Train  - I'll Be Aroundthe Spinners are awesome. "I'll be around" is a beaut - also
"Could It Be I'm Falling In Love"
and my favorite ..."Mighty Love"
One of my pet peeves is when a comp is screwed up even when there was solid career material to work with. Rhino Records seemed to do the best job of putting these things together.I own a Rhino comp of The Spinners that I got for a few bucks in a discount bin. Its location was sad; the purchase a great one and worth more than every penny I paid.
I think you're right. I think Rhino kills with comps and tends to pick later career songs that are actually good and worthy of being with "the hits." It's why I specifically mentioned them as the label, because I think that those in the know at Rhino generally get what made the artist tick and work. They do a great job with re-releases of stuff, too.One of my pet peeves is when a comp is screwed up even when there was solid career material to work with. Fair enough. But if you’re going to claim that a specific song of a band is your favorite then I think you owe it to the process to listen to every piece of music, recorded or live, before making your choice. Time to scrap this list and start again once you’ve done your homework. Thanks for the suggestions. You are correct I have not vetted their entire catalog. Sorry man, I was busy watch'n you all night on TMC - 12 hour marathon. This thing on?
One of my favorite "new" bands. If you're not as familiar with them here are a few other songs I'd check out:
I love how he straddles so many genres.5-ish Finkle said:Golden Age is also pretty great, even though I've always felt it's only about a half an inch from a country song (which is NOT my bag, bay-bee).
Great tune. Nothing innovative, just rocks.370. The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Here's a song from the 80's that I really didn't come to appreciate until decades later.
"Don't You Want Me" runs over this song, then backs over it ...several times ...and then disposes of it in the Port Newark Harbor.

Going to need more comments like this if you guys want me to keep going. Feel like I lost my fan club now that I'm really getting to the good stuff."Don't You Want Me" runs over this song, then backs over it ...several times ...and then disposes of it in the Port Newark Harbor.
Outside that ...it's a distant second.

Heard this song twice this weekend on the Beatles Channel. Don't really love the song, but that's a helluva lineup. Nothing From Nothing runs over this, backs up, something something.359. Billy Preston - That's The Way God Planned It
